now i believe my grandmas and grandpas when they said philippines next to japan was a first world country before martial law. they enjoyed the philippines in the 50s, 60s and they said everyone was dressed nice in manila, every minimum wager can afford to loan a house and a car and no dugyots on the streets. and when my grandmas and grandpas felt what martial has been doin to the economy, peso, integrity of the country as a whole they migrated to the US. they were right. around 1983 PH was labeled as a third world country, political dynasties started, peso value plummeted and never recovered, cronies and few businesses blossomed but the gap between the poor, middle class, and rich widened, red tapes became a thing, nepotism and padrino held positions in government. sad what happened in PH since martial law
We Filipinos are now in a very sad state. It's not the fault of the politicians, but it is the fault of the citizens who have empowered them into office. Sad to see the efforts of this man have all been put into waste.
