Manila was the only modern city in the Philippines all the other cities were just populated towns with a huge gap of standard of living vs Manila few people have access to electricity in the rural areas, farming was done like in the feudal days His regime introduced farm mechanization through IMF loans in which they lent money to farmers His regime built the first backbone highways that connected the country the first light metro railway in the capital increased the literacy rate from 60% to 85% increased access to electricity created new provincial regions and regional cities developed other sources of energy such as geothermal, hyrdoelectric and even nuclear( which wasn't used by the next presidents ) built 100 state universities and major hospitals built more than 50,000 class rooms in his first 4 years as President and certainly built more later on built more bridges than any other Philippine president until Duterte ( probably ) reduced the crime rate during Martial Law Rapists and Murderers were electrocuted if proven guilty 1 Drug Kingpin was executed by firing squad hundreds of corrupt officials sacked in the 1970s 60,000 illegal fire arms confiscated in the 1970s from private individuals reduced unemployment from 7 - 14% in the 1970s down to 5% in the early 1980s achieved rice self sufficiency in the late 1970s but was sabotaged by the opposition reduced the likelihood of the Communists to be recruiting students by putting the country under Martial Law and for the record, no court in the Philippines was able to convict the Marcoses of any criminal case sine 1986 all they were able to pass on as convictions were all civil cases. No wonder many people hate this man!

Saw this several times, cannot help but admire a great statesman, a true Nationalist and the greatest President the Philippines ever had. What ever he was accused of, pale to comparison to what he achieved and served the country. President Marcos, himself, ( as per stories and news during the People Power ), refused to hurt the Filipinos when they were lead to revolt against him. He refused to order the use of cannons and high level fire power to quell the 1986 revolution in EDSA. He just humbly retreated to what he thought was to Ilocos Norte and on protest was brought to Hawaii by his security forces. Thank you for your service President Ferdinand Edralin Marcos.

My god this man is so brilliant. He doesn't bring a pre-written speech, but was still very precise to his numbers and even the dates. You can tell this man was very in control and very involved in the job. Unlike the rest of the succeeding presidents where mos of the things in their speech were prepared by assistants and sometimes asks a personnel when asked for a precise number.

I was only a child during time, but I must say that this man is admirable. What a great a man. And it's very saddening what happened to him. He was blamed by many people but as for me, Many years had passed but HE WAS NEVER FORGOTTEN. Some would not agree to me but YOU CANNOT PUT A GOOD MAN DOWN. Salute to you, Mr. President. As for me its bibilical that God allowed this situation to happen to the Marcos family for a reason. To test their faith on the Lord because they are one among his chosen children. Saw this several times, cannot help but admire a great statesman, a true Nationalist and the greatest President the Philippines ever had. What ever he was accused of, pale to comparison to what he achieved and served the country. President Marcos, himself, ( as per stories and news during the People Power ), refused to hurt the Filipinos when they were lead to revolt against him. He refused to order the use of cannons and high level fire power to quell the 1986 revolution in EDSA. He just humbly retreated to what he thought was to Ilocos Norte and on protest was brought to Hawaii by his security forces.
