They were last week at Cannes boat show and boat was very busy going on sea trials all the time. They fixed most of Hull 1 issue's, reduced noises, improved cruising speed and range by fitting new props and interceptors and boat looks and rides good. They were tested and nominated for multihull of the year award at MHW magasine. Apparently they already sold 5 boats and few of them will be with surface drives and foils are on drawing board. I Love the looks (It really is the only good looking power cat out there's) and hope to see more reviews. Thanks Alex for bringing new brands and fresh concepts like this to the public.
Thank you MBY for coming aboard the new MAKAI M37 and providing invaluable feedback. As our prototype (Hull #1), we truly value the insights gained from both the testing phase and the 5,000nm journey across the Mediterranean over the past few months. The first journey from Split to Palma for the Palma International Boat Show, was completed just days after launch, and taught us a great deal about the boat's performance on the water in a short time span. Many of the points identified after vigorous testing and customer/expert feedback have already been implemented in this hull and into our upcoming hulls that are in production. ☺
I'm considering sending a boat to the Philippines for extended island hopping. Sightseeing, scuba, and enjoying the culture for 2-3 weeks at a time. Invite a couple of couples for as long as they want. I'd prefer a single hull and faster boat, but my wife gets seasick too easily. So, either we get a fast cruiser and sleep on land or get a cat. The M37 with a kitchen would be great. Probably would have to invite one couple at a time. Great first start! Maybe we could island hop nearer the factory before it is shipped!
Saw this in Cannes, for the first time and was very impressed, its now at the top of my list. Talking with the builders now and heading to their factory for a sea trial next month.
Super plan de pont et taille des cabines énormes pour juste 37pieds. Pour la coque numéro 1 tout ça est plutôt impressionnant. Can't wait for what's coming next !
Looks great and the space on the boat is huge for a boat of that size, especially impressive for being hull1. Nice to see something different on the market, something refreshing in the growing power catamaran segment.
I think if I were a new company showing hull number one……. and I had MB&Y touring, I would have kerbed the loud drinking party until the tour was over…….. It must be fun to have your first boat at the show…….. but perhaps hold off on the piss-up till the shows closed for the night. I like the boat 🇬🇧🙂
I managed to get aboard this catamaran at the Cannes Yachting Festival for a sea trial. I was hugely impressed by the cabins down below and the sea handelling in the choppy conditions we went out in. TBH I didn't notice the engine noise so maybe they have already made the improvements mentioned in the video. Very impressive boat!
That's right! We headed to Palma just a few days after launching, and upon returning to Split, we gathered all the feedback and implemented changes to Hull #1, as well as our future builds. It was an invaluable learning experience that gave us deeper insights into the boat’s performance and highlighted key areas for improvement.
Is a remarkable yacht that redefines the concept of luxury cruising. Its exquisite design, combined with exceptional performance and unparalleled comfort, makes it a truly impressive vessel. I was particularly impressed by the M37's smooth ride and stability, even in choppy waters.
A hybrid version would be amazing could easily fit a lot of solar panels on the roof, and perhaps an option to be able to enclose the area ala what Marex does. What a fun and feature rich boat! I was astonished by the cabin spaces! Wow!
Thank you very much, we really appreciate it! We offer solars on the roof as an option and are currently exploring these other points that you mentioned 😀
Thank you for the feedback, we are glad to say that we have reduced the noise of the engines and we have fitted new props and interceptors to improve the cruising speed and driving range (and we offer an extra diesel tank option) 😊
Hey, we had a few journalists come onboard and properly test it, and it got us a nomination for European Powerboat of the Year, so the tests should hopefully go out soon!
Awesome boat! have been watching this brand since the beginning. I love that they are taking a different approach to the others, clearly focused on cruising and sea keeping ability.
Who did you bribe to get that nomination? Given the workmanship and design, I don't think you'll get good value retention. The boat is too expensive for that.
This is what first drew me to this boat, I really love the design. previously the designs of powercats were the only thing holding me back from getting onboard with two hulls - despite knowing the benefits.
@@JonnyThompson-i6m Yep exactly, the boat is great and the design really stands out. Seems the people in the comments are forgetting it is a prototype and are focused on points that are easily improvable rather than the whole concept of the boat - which is fantastic imo
This is the best looking powercat with huge space for 37ft and if they can improve some details it will be a winner in my opinion. It seems that they took Alex comments seriously since they are working on foils and this combined with surface drives will improve speed and range.Noise should be easy to fix.
Definitely noisy and poor range but I am sure they will take these criticisms on board and work to fix it. That being said I think this is a great design with a nice layout and I love the cabins. Great tour thank you.
Interesting has got some good touches like storage. There are options for kitchen and seating. But I think they need to look at those options. Guest abins and the head are nice. Master cabin plenty of storage, good head room. She got promise and a good starter boat for a family first cat or charter. Engine versa nautical miles needs work on it. Plus needs more sound proofing, as you said. But again can 😢be sorted out. Like to see boat 2, to see what they can improve. 150 nautical mile ok for rivers and lakes, but not IMO as good range wise at sea.
Thank you for all the valuable feedback. We designed this boat with families in mind, aiming to create a highly habitable starter vessel for its size. We're excited to be launching Hull #2 this week, and we’ve already made significant improvements to the areas you mentioned, both on Hull #1 and in our upcoming builds. Since Hull #1 was launched just days before heading to Palma, it provided an excellent opportunity to gather valuable feedback on the hull
The beam doesn’t account for 41% of its length, it’s proportional to 41% of its length. Easy to make a slip of the tongue when filming so no problem. The noise and the (lack of) range would seem to be a problem though.
Very well designed and lots of headroom below. There should be more setting around the cockpit. The engines are noisy. Overall a great boat with better engines for 50+ knots ?
I really want to like this boat, and mostly do. Noise and efficiency would keep me from owning it, but let's see what they do with that. I do like the layout, but would like to see them design in better helm visibility. I like the open fore deck, let's you do what you want with it. Having said all that, I'd still go with an Aquila, but think they can really make this competitive.
Not having a real kitchen, nor big consolidated closed family / dining and hangout space on the upper deck is a real shame. It's not a family or a couple' cruiser, nor is it your standard 4 cabin charter boat. Not sure who is this for.
We emphasize customization, with these options carefully curated by the boat’s owner. For those who prioritize a spacious kitchen, we offer an extended kitchen option. Additionally, an optional sunbed on the bow is available for those who prefer added comfort. The hull design prioritizes a large cockpit and roomy cabins, maximizing space to ensure the boat functions as more than just a weekend cruiser for families. It is also ideal for hosting multiple guests comfortably in the cockpit during extended weekend trips.
@@makaipowercats It's hard for me to imagine a prolonged boat adventure with a family or friends without some kind of indoor hanging out and cooking space. It's not always nice outside. I'd imagine this is why most boats on the market have some indoor communal space.
@@alexp8924 We greatly appreciate your feedback and are actively reviewing it. However, this boat was specifically designed with the understanding that most powercats in this size range tend to be more open. The boat’s usability can also vary depending on its location and the conditions in which it will be used. During our own tests, even in rainy weather and while navigating 2.5-meter waves, we found the hardtop provided substantial protection. That said, we recognize that each individual has unique needs and preferences.
@@makaipowercats of course. Appreciate your responses. Nothing is wrong with the approach and there are always trade offs. The only thing that surprised me is you saying that it's not designed as a weekender / day boat. I think prioritising outdoors entertaining space over convenience of every day living and indoor space, is the trade off more typical on day boats. I'd imagine most people with my use case would choose something like GT45 in this price range. But GT45 probably can't entertain as many people and there are upsides to having 2 hulls of course.
@@alexp8924 We truly appreciate all the feedback, especially as this is a prototype. We take every suggestion into consideration to see how we can optimize the design to better meet customer needs. The boat is designed as both a weekender and a week-long cruiser, as we believe its habitable cabins and customizable features allow it to be used for extended trips. The ability to tailor the boat’s layout and amenities ensures that it can easily be adapted to suit longer stays, providing flexibility and comfort beyond just weekend use. 😀
I’ve never been a fan of open stern boats of any kind because it just feels less safe even if it may not be, especially with kids n dogs. The bow is meh!
