If the Levi's store at the mall looked like this commercial, I might go in. Here it's just blue jeans and other standard, bland clothing I can get anywhere else at lower prices.
there was a stranger who came into our town he was tall and had eyes that could look right to the bottom of you. we might have welcomed him except for one thing...his pants... they were dull like ours and mistroubled us stranger, how was it your pants had colors and faired legs? he just smiled and said, i'm wearing levis. dull has gotten out of style. then in a strange way he transported us to a levis slacks and jeans twigs, colors, flairs with dacron polyester. it was magic! bush jeans, velves, beautiful levis magic overalls, knits, and he cried for more! now i must go to other towns he said, and he left. left us with our new levis. yes will miss that stranger, but you know life will never be dull in our town again. by the way, how are things in your town?
Prank Girl they didn’t dress crazy, it’s just fashion especially men’s fashion is so in a box nowadays and clothes in general are not as fun and expressive as in the 70s and 80s.
Levis were doing the most bizarre commercials back then. I remember this one well.
I wish theyd bring back commercials like this they are so cool
AWESOME! I had completely forgotten this GREAT commercial -- haven't seen in 30+ years. Thanks for the time tunnel!
Ken Nordine on the very memorable voice-over. This first aired in 1971.
Mike Koelker … Copywriter
Chris Blum … Art Director
Ken Nordine … Voice-over
Holy smokes, is this weird! I never saw this or even heard of it before. I recognize Ken Nordine's voice, though. He did several ads for Levis.
"Stranger" = Acid dealer
Come on old trademark time for your walk... ❤️
Oh man, I'm all for livening up my dull pants, but DAMN! Some eye-maiming patterns in that ad.

He is the Levi’s jesus 💀💀
This would've scared the crap out of me when I was a kid
really? This looks a lot like the Sesame Street segments we used to watch.
@@fkovacs1 oh, those scared me too. I was just a generally scared kid.
...and then the chemicals in our pants spontaneously combusted and we were transformed... into screaming people with pants on fire.
Is it just my imagination, or does that "stranger" look a bit like Tim Leary?
/Great Ken Nordine narration, too!
I remember it well. You were no one in the 70s if you weren't wearing Dacron Polyester!
(miss the 1968 pin-stripe bell-bottom styles - funky and groovy threads)!
There were other ads in this series I think.
I have never been able to find them.

stranger, how was it your pants had colors and faired legs?
he just smiled and said, i'm wearing levis. dull has gotten out of style.

I remember when this aired. Kinda spooky
Hip-hop has left the group
So eerie and sinister feeeling
The products weren't always 'great' but the commercials were! That sounds like Ken Nordine's voice.
looks like Tom Snyder
I wish people all dressed crazy like they did in the 70's. People are so bland these days.
Prank Girl they didn’t dress crazy, it’s just fashion especially men’s fashion is so in a box nowadays and clothes in general are not as fun and expressive as in the 70s and 80s.
he should have shot off into space in the end, i know a few planets who are in need of some pants
The great Ken Nordine.
The stranger is either Marlon Brando or Johnny Cash
Is that johnny carson or lee van cleff the voice behind it😆
The stranger looks a little like Timothy Leary. No wonder it's so psychedelic.
Is that Ken Nordine?
Vintage advert for people with vintage attention spans.
is this made by ralph bakshi?
Had to be
Is this Godspell? :P
Which year this ad exactly dates? I guess this is more end of 60's or very early 70's?
It first aired in 1971, so you were correct in your guess. :)
Nice, but I don't like Dacron Polyester.
