Every Tesla SHOULD have cruise control as standard! You pull the cruise lever toward you once, for autopilot twice 👍

Just to give some other context to the public charging costs, which are ridiculous. In Ireland only charging my model Y at night on cheap 0.07kwh electricity, it has cost me €85 to drive 5,300KM.
EVs offer huge savings IF you can home charge cheaply.
My main issue with EVs, like most green things I suppose, is those that can benefit the most are those that can otherwise afford it, whereas those in a council house with a cheap petrol have to pay rising petrol costs.

    • @leedent8211
      @leedent8211 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Unfortunately most people can't charge at home. I live in Norwich and only 44% of houses have a driveway? Most cities struggle to get above 50% and this is were EV's are supposed to be best used.

    • @ZesPak
      @ZesPak 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

@@leedent8211There is affordable public charging of course. There's a whole spectrum between what was mentioned in the video (supermarket fast charging) and very cheap home charging.
It's not because you don't have a driveway that you don't have a garage/car park. Those can be equipped with chargers and will be.
If you often use your car, maybe you can charge at work?
If you don't, a normal street/shop charger costs less than half what was mentioned in the video. In the end, most cars are stationary over 95% of the time, it's not impossible to find an affordable charging solution where your car is stationary.
The actual percentage of people with an issue charging will be a lot lower than just those who don't have a driveway.

Nice find! Some things to look out for:
Lower control arms front, these are well known to fail.
Upper control arm front known to rust alot in colder countries.
Control arm rear can be cause of vibration, not sure on the top of my head what its called, but it mounts to the engine and the rear subframe.
Rear control arm mounts, known to break and it will make the rear wheel tilt in a angel making the car unable to drive.
Headlights, Facelift cars are wellknown for the headlight failure as you shown in the video, cheaper ones can be found in China for about 300 euro.
Electric rear hatch, known to make sounds and leak.
Rear camera, as shown in video, fails.
Side cameras in front fenders are prone to get burnt, eventually needs replacing.
12 Volt battery is known to be bad sooner than expected, no a huge deal tho.
Hood latch is metal and bolted to the aluminium hood, corodes after a while.
Ground fittings in the chassi snaps and corrode, this indicates most often issues with stearing "lost steering function" or random electrical issues, the fittings are most prone to failure under the "Frunk" in the front bay of the car.
Battery heater module dies, quite a pain if you have a AWD car (D-Model), its mounted on the torpedo wall in the front, only way to reach it if you have a front motor would be to drop the front subframe or HV-Battery.
Heating element inside the car is known to fail, it sucks in moisture from the front, important to swap filter and best to have the extra very large "Biodefence" filter, can be found online and glued in place if you wish to do so!
On the front wall of the car there is a "junktionbox", alof of the large fuses are located here, badly documented by Tesla, and if you get problems with heater its common the big fuse for the heater in this box blows, its hard to get to if you have a AWD car.
Rear brakelight in the rear window is known to burn out LEDS, sad thing is that its glued onto the rear window, no way to replace it unles you cut out the rear glass from the rear hatch.
Earily front seats can rust and snap in their construction so it moves more, for safety, replace the seat.
HV-Battery fuse, these ones are known to need to be replaced.
AC pipe left side inside wheel arch, front, known to break, and quite important since the car uses the AC to cool the coolant when charging on hot days.
Moisture in rear lights, drains holes are almost always clogged, can be cleaned by removing the rear lights.
Seals and water leaking from panoramic sunroof, very important to clean out the drainholes, water finds its way down the A-pillars inside the car otherwise, and it will make its way to the main electronics and fuses, making a complete low voltage electric mess..
Handles micro switches and gear snapping, kits to fix this are all around the internet.
Wiper assembely lose, useally it can be fixed to torq it correctly again, but it is also known to snap in a specific position, in that case it must be replaced, in the video you indicate marks on the hood, and that is well known from the wiper assembely moving too much.
Calipers are known to need some love about every other year, so that the pads can move easily.
Coolant three and four way valves are prone to leaking.
Front motor (SDU) are known to fail too early, any high pitch noise or scraping when letting go of the throttle is bad.
Rear motor LDU version (if preformance version, or some RWD version = LDU) are known to fail because of a coolant seal in the engine, can be checked by removing the speed sensor on the side of the block of the drive unit, if any liquid, moisture, or even rust is located its indicating a seal failure, drive unit needs to be repaired before it completely fails.
Steering rack is known to rust shut, so that it gets hard to turn, needs replacement in that case.
MCU1 has the problem with EMMC, for sure check that this is changed on the unit if you have a Nvidia Tegra processor in your car ( MCU1 ).
Screens on the cars with panoramic sunroofs are known to "Delaminate", this can be found by seeing "bubbles" or a "airgaps" in the screen, needs fixing since the fluid leaks into the unit itself, will cause short eventually.
Breather Valves on HV-Battery Back are known to clog, can be cleaned but be careful with and no preasure washers.
Top of the HV battery is also starting to report early rusting in the front part around the HV fuse and "tower".
Small window on front doors are known to move and leak.
85, keep away from these vehicles, the batteries are 200 % confirmed to have issues and completely fail, the eariler models as well, 60, 70, and 90's have started reporting simular weird issues with the HV battery, New tech for the batteries was introduced around 2015 is much much more reliable.
If you have airsuspension, that is known to fail..
If you need any help or somethin, feel free to reach out, but overall, amazing car, i own one as well with free supercharging, and I cant go back to an ICE car.
    Sorry for spelling mistakes!

So I've need a £6k EV to last me 10 years just to break even.

We run our BMW I3 very cheaply, for the first few years we never paid to charge because of the multiple free charging points. When that perk went we charged cheaply overnight, 7 pence a kwh, so with our lifetime average of 4.7 miles kwh you can work out how cheap it is to run. Its had tyres and one 12 volts battery in 70k ICE cars can't even get close to its running costs. Amazingly there is still free charging around so it's still saving us even more money. We have a campervan so I know the costs of running ICE vehicles and even with depreciation they don't even become close to running an EV. I don't think we will change the I3 so it won't matter to us, it doesn't rust as its aluminium, carbon fiber and plastic, its very light and drives very well

The basic free autopilot should include adaptive cruise and lane assist. It should just work. After the car has been reset (due to change of ownership) you have to enable it in the menu and confirm some terms and conditions.
Enhanced (2k) includes auto park and lane switching.
FSD (9k) includes the traffic light recognition and so on (which doesnt really do much due to lack of development in EU and laws crippling the development). These features are also very limited by the autopilot hardware inside, judging by the age it would probably be hardware 2.0 and it wouldn't be able to do this anyway. They swap the hardware in case you order it to 3.0 (or they would have if you ordered the option from the start).
They swapped my unit for free since I had the option when ordering the car (back then there was only one flavor costing 2k, all current owners got a free upgrade).
Edit: also your warranty is limited by age or mileage, whichever comes first. Both drivetrain (motors) and battery. I don't know them on the top of my head but you exceeded both.

I think much of what was mentioned in this video is why I prefer EVs so much as a daily driver. I spent 20 years driving modified internal combustion engine vehicles as my daily driver. I bought my first EV in 2018 and haven't looked back since then. My EV doesn't replace my "fun" car, but it has tons of power for daily driving and will out accelerate 95% of the vehicles on the road, it handles much better than other cars of the same style, its extremely quiet and comfortable, and I charge at home for a very small fraction of what it would cost to drive an ICE vehicle with similar size and level of acceleration. My EV SUV is more energy efficient than a Prius, yet it's substantially faster, more fun to drive, quiet, comfortable and practical than a Prius. I drive it 100 miles per day, and have a fun ICE project vehicle for the weekend.
