    A fact from a 007 and watch lover: In Goldeneye, Bond uses the 300m quartz in BLUE, and the villain, Sean Bean uses the 300m quartz in BLACK on a black strap!!!!

    For me it is *very* important. The one used in Goldeneye is the ref: 2541.80.00. The watches used by Pierce Brosnan as Bond have an special place in my heart. One day I'll get the 2541. Beautiful piece you have in there!

    For those of you concerned about Nick's secret identity, I'll fill you in. Go back to the review of the $5 Grand Tour watch, where he spoke in a not-quite-right British accent. NICK IS TGV! I'm just not sure which accent is the real Nick.

    Dive bezels are not supposed to be easy to move. They are meant to be set and left alone and not be accidentally moved from where they are set

    I have this exact same watch, but the Automatic version. I agree with everything you said. I have had mine for 12 years (no service yet) and runs about 1 sec slow a day. Its unreal nice. BUT, the bezel is horrible and, the legibility of this is not so great when compared to my other watches (marathon GSAR, Damasko, Sinn etc). But, this is will always be an epic in demand watch for a long time. Its beautiful.

    I have the current model. In blue and automatic of course but I had a higher end quartz watch. Like you said, they get you into other watches. Like mechanical ones.

    Waiting for your review of that Citizen field watch (BM8180-03E). Initially it made me hesitant when I saw that both hands were partly lumed, partly skeletal. I would have preferred to have the minute hand be full to enhance at-a-glance legibility. I am curious about your take on it. I am also curious whether the lume stays visible all night.

    Are there other well made or high end or luxury quartz? What about Longines Conquest quartz? I want the best of both worlds, which for me is quartz plus a quality built watch similar in quality to a luxury automatic. I don't like looks of Breitling however.

    • @NickShabazz
      @NickShabazz  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Nick the Omega end links are one piece instead of 3 piece like the center links. I have a SMP 2342.20 where the center links are solid 18 Kt yellow gold as are the crowns and bezel. Had Omega polished the best the end links it wouldn't look right.

  • @Olumin37
    @Olumin37 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Nick, If you wanna go quartz simply don't buy Omega, Rolex ..etc. If you want a quartz watch buy either Citizen, Casio or Seiko, manufactures who actually specialise on advanced quartz movements, not luxury watch manufactures like Rolex or Omega who are great at Mechanical movements, but suck at everything else. To them a quartz movement is always gonna be "less" then a automatic, so that's how they gonna treat them. Seiko/Citizen/Casio don't share that mentality, because that's what their brand does best, and that's what made them big. To Rolex/Omega a watch with a quartz movement is always just gonna be the affordable alternative to the "Real watch", don't expect anything above that from them.

    • @NickShabazz
      @NickShabazz  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Generally, I agree. But an affordable, full-quality Omega isn't a bad thing. Also, there are signs of change. Longines just dropped a high accuracy, perpetual quartz watch, which might trickle up to Omega.

    • @Olumin37
      @Olumin37 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean, Omega also does high end quartz watches with thermo-compensated movements and what not, but these are niche and were from ground up designed as quartz watches. Nobody knows Omega for their Spacemaster Z-33, but for their Speedmasters and Seamasters, that's what their brand depends on and what made them famous. There is a reason behind why Grand Seikos don't sell well outside of Japan compared to Rolex. People just don't want a luxury Seiko, If they want a luxury watch they go Rolex or Omega. To them its like spending a half-a-million on a custom Twingo.

    Had the same bracelet for 15 years. It didn't close properly after 5 years and did not hold together after about 8 years of wearing every day. Omega at the time was famous for its bad quality bracelets. Don't know about their current bracelets though.
