Sure, it may have been a genuine mistake, but people still have to evacuate the building and people can panic not knowing what’s going on. I would feel bad from his point of view, but at the same time, actions still have consequences whether it’s accidental or not. If the reported attack was real, people would not be irrationally angry at the worker. In fact, a single false alarm would help identify failures in peoples defense plans.

Who sent that exercise alert over the phone to that employee? Also why wouldn’t a coworker tell that employee that we are going to have an exercise conducted at this time and are you ready. There is some type of cover-up. The person who sent that exercise over to the employee should be held accountable because they did not inform or notify that employee that is just an exercise and it’s not the real thing. All the employees there should be fired and I can’t believe they didn’t even have a way to cancel ir retract the false alarm.
Maybe we should focus on the fact that panic ensued as a result of the alarm. In other words, the system they have set up doesn't work, it just makes people freak out.

If a person receives one alert and finds out it was false 38 minutes later, then they could possibly ignore any future alerts because they might think it’s just another hoax. Also there’s the risk of trusting the system. You might start asking yourself if the next alert will be real, or if it’s just another false alarm. And in emergency situations, you don’t have a lot of time to decide what to do, because the clock is ticking to save your life.

ey did a terrible job of keeping people updated should've told us it was a false alarm 2 minutes after but instead took over 35 to sound a false alarm it was all over the news tv telling us we're going to die they did not handle it correctly at all doesn't take 38 minutes to send a small message even a small tweet would've been enough to calm people down 38 minutes silent... same amount of time it would've taken for a missile to actually arrive terrible way of handling it
What If there really was a missile, and it took 30 minutes for whatever means they used to intercept it in transit, and until that point, the threat was still real, then issuing the all clear/ false alarm 8 minutes later. It would have caused a lot more panic if people knew there really was a missile.
