This week my friend Sean and I ride gravel in VA! What are your favorite outdoor activities? Is spring getting you excited for them? Leave a comment below to let us know! 😎
Great ride Matt. What size tires do you have on your bikes?? Your friend looked like he might have a gravel bike. I have a trek Domane with 32 wheels but no nubs. They are so much bigger than what my felt bike used that I feel like I could do some tame gravel. Might have to try 🚴🚐🏕
Katie and I have two sets for our Salsa Journeyman - a 2.1" x 650b set (which I used in this video) and a 38 x 700c. I use to have a cyclocross bike that had 32s. It was a little squirrelly on sandy gravel but the nice packed trails it did pretty well. Sean has 40s on his. Bikes are having larger and larger clearance for bigger tires because everyone wants to get off the beaten track now 😎
@@Trailvagabonds yes I could upgrade my bike to bigger tires (as high as 38x700 I believe) but quite honestly do more road cycling than off road. Speaking of which I really should go get on my bike right now. It’s a beautiful day. 🚴♀️
@@vanomadcyclist3474 one way around it is buying a cheap gravel set you could swap out. I think our second set was only $250. Not high end but does the trick. Have a greay time! We have a week of rain coming. Not sure when I'll get on the bike next?
Oh my gosh! I’m so sorry I missed your comment!! I don’t recall what trails we were on at the time. I could reach out to my friend I road work that day as he lives in the area if you are interested? Thanks for your comment, and I’m so sorry again I didn’t reply for 2 years!!🫣
@@Trailvagabonds You're fine! I moved to the area 2 years ago so I know Poca forwards and backwards these days (; I appreciate the vid because it gave me a taste of what to expect and was part of why we picked Chesterfield over RVA.
@@Trailvagabonds ooooh the bike scene up there is mighty fine from what I hear tooo. Am fan of a lot of companies and some frames from your new neck of the woods
@beforedawn absolutely! So many cool bike brands, parts companies, bikepacking bag manufacturers, you name it! Looking forward to meeting people in the know as we just moved here about a month ago. Lots of bike content to come I’m hoping!

Oh yeah folks in VA do /not/ like bicyclist on the road for some weird reason. Glad you had fun and stayed safe.
Some definitely cut it close to us. Glad we stayed safe to ride again. Thanks for continuing to support us even outside of the van content! 😊
What a ride dude! I gotta bust out the bike and hit some pavement here soon!
I'm sure the gravel is great around there too!

Great video! Did you ride a particular loop?
Which trail(s) or loops were you taking?

@ glad to hear! We’re in northern Minnesota now. I’ll need to buy a fat bike. But endless gravel up here, berry happy for that!
