'This Is The Life' has just turned 14! 🤩 This song is the soundtrack to so many great memories, forever grateful for how it has connected with so many of you around the world. 🥰
I was a child when the first time I listened to this song . Years later today I've found this by accident. Like meeting a childhood friend. I'm older, the world is uglier, but it's always worth to live. Have a nice day.
I was 18 when this song came out, I still remember cold winter evenings in a break from studying, sat in the kitchen with a mug of tea and a lot of inner struggle, watching MTV on a tiny television. It always sounds so melancholic to me :(
I think it’s because the words are happy/not sad but the music is in a minor key. Seem to remember Amy M saying it was about a happy late teen moment with friends. Great song.
Had this song on a cd in my mother’s car... forgot about it and then heard it during a party last year. That feeling when thousands of memories come back in a matters of seconds... wow. Miss u mum!
Awww...wow. Three years later, reading your comment. Tears instantly while feeling your love for your mum, and then the love for mine, too. Thank you. 🙏❤🙏
Every now and then I come back to listen and watch. One of the things I like about listening to Amy is that she keeps her Scots accent, a pretty rare and refreshing thing to the descendant of Scots.
this is the song i listened to when i couldn't even speak english so i just created my whole new language and was 100% sure i'm singing it right... those were the days.
Pure nostalgia...Berlin 2008, me in my skinny jeans and high heels, smokey eyes and broken heart, coming back from the party at 5 am. What a time was it 👏
Me, a 16 year old teenager, just found this song again It's almost midnight But I'm jumping around my room now listening to this song because for some reason it makes me so damn happy right now 😂
This song is really important to me, because I've listened to it at the most influential times in my life. My mom played it when she was diagnosed with cancer, I listened to it when she passed away and now I listen to it every mom's birthday. It helped me to accept my life and move on. 😊
I remember my mom really liked this song. When she left us, I listened to them on repeat after school on the living room speakers. Still feels so nostalgic to this day

One year ago, before Corona, I listened to this song coming home in the morning and half drunk from my friends' house, after having the time of our lives, or going to school with my hair all messed up cause life was so wonderfully intense that I didnt even have the time to comb it. The lyrics represented for me my total freedom, never knowing where I would have slept or what I would have done the day after. We were always so tired but we were living our youth in the best way possible. Now the lyrics turned dark, we cant leave our homes and the 'where you gonna go' became a rhetorical question rather than an hymn of total freedom of choice. We're not going anywhere, we'll live our last year of school all apart and our youths have been broken in a half. This song will always be a memory of those happy times. Love you all

Strange how time passes. I first heard this song on a holiday in Crete in 2008 lying on a beach by the pool. I was young. I thought about the moment and was already thinking that this moment should be remembered for the future. The rest. The total relaxation of a life that was better than anything that came before. For the first time in my life on vacation already in my twenties. Now fifteen years later I realize that I was at my happiest then. From 2010 it went down quickly. Sick parents and addicted brother. My sister wanted to take her own life. I went through everything and helped everyone. My father had a cerebral hemorrhage in 2011 and my mother a few years later in 2016. From the moment I became aware of life I know nothing but more that my parents drank a lot and there were fights. Now both in good hands in a care home. At least the drinking stopped and there are happy moments now and they sometimes say sorry at of nothing when I visiting them. I ges they know what they did. But it okay with me. Second changes is all I can do right now. The raised me and that I respect and I remember the small moments of happiness that we is a young family had. My brother is clean and lives together. My sister is doing much better and also lives together. I am alone and many things are unfinished. Tired and lost the fire. When I listen to this song I remind myself of the time when I was strong, vital and full of energy to face life. I had passion and goals. Slowly I'm getting older in a few months 40. I see myself slowly aging in the mirror, but still have a face and body of someone in my late twenties. I guess father time gives me a chance after all the lost time to get it right. Relight the fire and find a woman from there. Attention is there, but I pushed it away. The old people were right when they said life is short. Need to act.
It's a reminder to you that you can live and to ho make new memories, you are too young to sit and do nothing, you have given your family all the help they needed when nessecary, all is well with them now, let go and enjoy and have a life for you too, we only have one shot at living life, make your new one a good one for you, you deserve it
I was searching for this song for approx. 6 years (since 2010) and when I found it, it brought some tears to my eyes. Nostalgia, old days, old feelings, late relatives, late memories which you can never be able to live back again; times when you were just happy regardless of the things that occured all around the globe… I really miss those days…
But new times is always coming, tomorrow's memories is made now 💜💗 Good and bad rolling in like waves. People we meet, people we loose.. Life is a nostalgia trip..

Lyrics: Oh the wind whistles down The cold dark street tonight And the people they were dancing To the music vibe And the boys chase the girls, with curls in their hair While the shocked too many sit way over there And the songs get louder each one better than before And you singing the song thinking this is the life And you wake up in the morning and your head feels twice the size Where you gonna go, where you gonna go, where you gonna sleep tonight? And you singing the song thinking this is the life And you wake up in the morning and your head feels twice the size Where you gonna go, where you gonna go, where you gonna sleep tonight? Where you gonna sleep tonight So you're heading down the road in your taxi for 4 And you're waiting outside jimmy's front door But nobody's in and nobody's home till 4 So you're sitting there with nothing to do Talking about Robert Ragger and his 1 leg crew And where you gonna go, where you gonna sleep tonight? And you singing the song thinking this is the life And you wake up in the morning and your head feels twice the size Where you gonna go, where you gonna go, where you gonna sleep tonight? And you singing the song thinking this is the life And you wake up in the morning and your head feels twice the size Where you gonna go, where you gonna go, where you gonna sleep tonight? Where you gonna sleep tonight And you singing the song thinking this is the life And you wake up in the morning and your head feels twice the size Where you gonna go, where you gonna go, where you gonna sleep tonight? And you singing the song thinking this is the life And you wake up in the morning and your head feels twice the size Where you gonna go, where you gonna go, where you gonna sleep tonight? I had heard this before , but it wasn't until I was in rehab ,sorting my life out that I actually really appreaciated it and will always remeber this as the track that helped me on my journey to being sober and getting my life back.☺☺
This is my senior year in highschool and there 's still last 5 months and l already got feel emotional. There's so much memories with my friends and we 've made a lot teenager stuffs since the begining of high school . Whenever l come up here and listen this song, it reminds me about how life precious is . We all have tough times and sometimes we can feel exhausted. But it's ok to feel that way because we all know that at the end of the day we 'll sleep and tomorrow will be much better than that day . l am 17 now and like every human being l have highs and lows but l am thankful for what god gave it to me :) l am leaving this note here and l don't know how many years later I will come back here and see my comment but until that time take care ❤
This song actually came out a few days before my 5th birthday. I can't really remember this day, but I remember hearing this song and I connect it with a special moment of my childhood. A few days ago this song somehow came back into my mind but I had no idea what the name was. Though I had this line "you gonna sleep tonight" in my mind, so I searched for it and I'm glad I found it. A wave of nostalgia and good memories overfloated me and now I'm laying down in my bed with tears im my eyes. Gosh I miss those days. To those who had the patience to read until here, where ever you are right now, I'm sending my love to you! ❤
A beautiful song, I feel nostalgia for the past, even if it is close, any period before the other is more beautiful than it, despite the progress the world is witnessing
@amymacdonaldofficial so much thank you. You just caught so much the spirit of our crazy student times first parties, 15 years ago, the nights hanging from a pub to another, from a flat to another, in the night kebab shops, our joys, our first times, our laughters, our memories caught on faded pictures, our younger selves, in our younger clothes. Big hugs from France.
I can only make a comment piggy backing on someone else's comment as the solo commenting box has been turned off. I love this singer I believe I was in my 40s when this song was released. If I remember correctly it was 2007 but not positive. I was engaged and that summer on vac I told my Mom when I returned home I was going to give the ring back. Our vacation was always in July near my mom's bday and I think this album may have been released that month but, not positive. I will have to Google it. While I was driving around today this song popped into my mind. I haven't been to Scotland in many years. My Dad is from England. If Amy is still singing I hope she comes to the states someday.

I also connect to this as a typical song for an autumn day.

It's a reminder to you that you can live and to ho make new memories, you are too young to sit and do nothing, you have given your family all the help they needed when nessecary, all is well with them now, let go and enjoy and have a life for you too, we only have one shot at living life, make your new one a good one for you, you deserve it
Stay strong, what does not kill you makes you stronger 💪 ✨️
My late uncle loved this. He used to sing it all the time. Im coming back to this video to relive his memories 😭
Cool Music!! Here i am from Europe!!!
Unfortunately dear , those days will never be back again !
We must try to look forward in our lives
But new times is always coming, tomorrow's memories is made now 💜💗 Good and bad rolling in like waves. People we meet, people we loose.. Life is a nostalgia trip..

Just found for the first time, I really like it and I am annoyed I missed this song at the first time of asking. She seems really talented and a nice voice.
I listened to this on my mp3-player when I was 8 - now I’m turning 18 in a few months.
What the fuck just happened in those 10 years???
I became stressed, got hurt and older but this song stayed and I’m so thankful for this!
May this song follow you forever and let you remember about your childhood when times were better!

Lyrics:
Oh the wind whistles down
The cold dark street tonight
And the people they were dancing
To the music vibe
And the boys chase the girls, with curls in their hair
While the shocked too many sit way over there
And the songs get louder each one better than before
And you singing the song thinking this is the life
And you wake up in the morning and your head feels twice the size
Where you gonna go, where you gonna go, where you gonna sleep tonight?
And you singing the song thinking this is the life
And you wake up in the morning and your head feels twice the size
Where you gonna go, where you gonna go, where you gonna sleep tonight?
Where you gonna sleep tonight
So you're heading down the road in your taxi for 4
And you're waiting outside jimmy's front door
But nobody's in and nobody's home till 4
So you're sitting there with nothing to do
Talking about Robert Ragger and his 1 leg crew
And where you gonna go, where you gonna sleep tonight?
And you singing the song thinking this is the life
And you wake up in the morning and your head feels twice the size
Where you gonna go, where you gonna go, where you gonna sleep tonight?
And you singing the song thinking this is the life
And you wake up in the morning and your head feels twice the size
Where you gonna go, where you gonna go, where you gonna sleep tonight?
Where you gonna sleep tonight
And you singing the song thinking this is the life
And you wake up in the morning and your head feels twice the size
Where you gonna go, where you gonna go, where you gonna sleep tonight?
And you singing the song thinking this is the life
And you wake up in the morning and your head feels twice the size
Where you gonna go, where you gonna go, where you gonna sleep tonight?
And you singing the song thinking this is the life
And you wake up in the morning and your head feels twice the size
Where you gonna go, where you gonna go, where you gonna sleep tonight?
And you singing the song thinking this is the life
And you wake up in the morning and your head feels twice the size
Where you gonna go, where you gonna go, where you gonna sleep tonight?
Where you gonna sleep tonight

Yes! Lots of unlocked memories... This song was playing before my 1st 3some. ☺️
Some memory that was.

Best morning after song ever.

A beautiful song, I feel nostalgia for the past, even if it is close, any period before the other is more beautiful than it, despite the progress the world is witnessing
Feels like the world is regressing
Progress, huh? 😂😂
As Alex turner once said, nothing seems as pretty as the past though
@amymacdonaldofficial so much thank you. You just caught so much the spirit of our crazy student times first parties, 15 years ago, the nights hanging from a pub to another, from a flat to another, in the night kebab shops, our joys, our first times, our laughters, our memories caught on faded pictures, our younger selves, in our younger clothes. Big hugs from France.
I love this song

There is only a month left until 2024, and this music still makes me happy ❤
