I am ghost fan since now around 12 years. Saw them live for 4 times. And i can say,Impera is a masterpiece in music. Listening to it close to everyday. To me,its the best album i have ever heard.
Well, for me this song sounds like a sad message from Papa to us. He repeated many times "i'm with you always". But in the end of the song he is silent at that lyric, like he realises that he is lying. "When the summer dies" could be a hint that Papa will die at the end of the european summer tour It's like a last kiss from him
It's meant to be sinister, not sad. It's kinda like Cirice in that he's promising everything you want, but the undertone people are willfully ignoring--because that's the point-- is that the "love" that Papa offers you is not good for you, and will be the end of you.

You can get the tone of the main melody on an Ovation electric steel string acoustic with the right amp. I'm convinced it's a guitar and not keys/harp/harpsichord.
this song isn't about what most people probably believe it's about, and the meaning is on Genius I think (and confirmed by Tobias iirc). it's kinda from the pov of the type of ppl who claim to love u and want the best for u, but they're doing this from a place rooted in hatred or disgust. So like "I love u, but I want u to stop what ur doing bc it's disgusting to me", like y'know the "love the sinner, hate the sin" type if that makes sense? this song is hugely important to one of my friends who is gay and in the closet bc their family is religious and very anti-lgbt but claim the "hate the sin, love the sinner" stuff
Some other songs from Ghost that I recommend are Elizabeth and Genesis! But I really think you should check out Genesis first cause it’s such and awesome instrumental

I love this one so much. At first it's beautiful and sounds heartwarming but then I start to think more about lyrics and it's suddenly a little more dark. But I ignore that and continue to view with my first context majority of time haha
This one is gorgeous tho the meaning is a bit darker than it looks. If I ever see it live I think I might cry 🥲. That stringy sound is a harpsichord if I'm not mistaken.
This song is the devil singing to you. The frist part of the song, remembers me the melodies and lyrics that the churches play. Obviously they use to play in other music style but the melodies and lyrics are very similar.
