      Thanks Tania. Flea market find. It's super heavy too. I forget what type of wood it is . I paid too much for it, but I had to have it! LOL Dried Hydrangea from my garden. 💃🍰

    Love....as usual!! I have a couple questions......as usual! Any particular reason you used peppermint extract to mix with the colored gels and cocoa powder? And...could you tell me or give a link to the gold dust you were using? Is it totally edible?

    • @CakesWithLorelie
      @CakesWithLorelie  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Joann, LOL I used peppermint because it's clear. The gold I am using is in my shop amzn.to/2I2vIsO The label says inedible It doesn't get absorbed into the body ( according to my research) I don't use it in large quantity because it does have a metallic taste. It's got a nice shine to it and can be used with or without he addition of extract. Lots of back and forth about this product. You can search it and see what I mean. The gold dust powder from Wilton has not shine to it, But there are other brands out there. It's not cheap but it lasts a very long time. You don't need a lot for an application.

    My cakes teacher had a fondness for birch. I tried to make a birch Yule log but I used piped chocolate for the lines. Didn’t look as good as this; next time I’ll use your technique.

      Hi Cat. Yes I made a yule log too a few years back. I can't remember how I did it LOL. I think I used ganache for the lines. I'll have to go back and find that video. Thanks for watching and commenting xoxoxo
