I pay thousands of dollars for my education and honestly you guys teach better than the 3 chemistry professors I've had- good info included and concise, love these videos! A huge thank you!

Is enthalpy of formation can also be zero for element if they are in same state as of their standard state even the temp. Is other than standard temp.(25°)
    (or STP condition)?

Standard state of a substance is the substance in its pure form at 1 atm pressure and the temperature of interest. We usually choose 25 deg. C but it is not defined as "the state of the substance at 25 degrees C."

awesome video! why shouldn't you flip the sign on the -21 kj since that is the delta H for the reactants?? Do you not flip the equation?

Thank you so much for this video. I love Brightstorm. I was having a really hard time (..panicking) because our prof sprung an important quiz on us even though he hadn't taught this yet. I looked at other videos but they explain a different topic related to but not this. You explain it so well.

How can I solve the problem by using this if the temperature changes. like before reaction is 25 C, after that is 400 c. do we seperate into 2 steps? like doing hess law first and then integrate Cp over 25 to 400. Im so confused

Most of the time when the equation in blue is the only thing given, they will give you the enthalpy values of each compound. Given this, just use the formula at 7:04.

Hess' law can be used for 98% of the reactions, but the last way of finding Delta H can be used for some reactions and not the majority so watch out !

Hold up, that shortcut method you messed up i believe, shouldnt the 21 kj be positive at the end? Not negative? Because you have to switch the sign if its a reactant? You just taught me that 😂
