When they remade Nier I thought "Why not remake Drakengard it's older."
Then I thought about it for two seconds and there is no way that Drakengard is getting remade today. I don't know how it got originally made and greenlit at all.

Such a shame. I'd buy it in a heartbeat. And truth be told, games like this actually help me in some capacity, as they force me to reflect and work on myself and the world.

"Okay so I wanna remake a game."
"I heard remake so I'm already on board."
"It's that game where you play as a bloodthirsty maniac who wants to kill everyone."
"You made a game about Johnny Silverhand?"
      "No."
      "What else?"
"You are followed by a priest who spends the whole game crying and despairing and pulling his hair out."
      "I see."
      "He's literally bald."
"That's offensive. But at least he's not touching kids."
      "Oh, we have that."
      "What, touching kids? Or kids?"
      "Yes."
      "Wait-"
"One of the characters is a hero, brave, courageous, has honor, refuses to fight child soldiers."
      "I feel a 'but' coming."
      "But he's a pedophile."
"You know that thin line between genius and insanity?"
"And there's another character, she's an elf."
"Oh boy, the thin books are gonna sell like crazy."
"She's a cannibal that gave her uterus away and eats babies to keep them safe."
      "Jesus, I'm calling the FBI."
      "We're in Japan."
"Amaterasu, I'm calling the Imperial Bureau of Investigation."
      "And then there's a kid."
      "Oh no."
"He's actually kinda okay, except he never ages."
      "Of course not."
"And he commands a building-sized golem that flattens anything that pisses him off."
      "Sounds cool."
"And he uses it to kill his own sister."
      "What is wrong with you?"
"Have I told you that every ending get worse?"
      "Stop."
"And your reward for getting all the weapons is a super tough boss fight where you die in one hit and you have to hit every note perfectly or you die and the real world is doomed?"
"What about you take some holidays? Go watch a fun movie, like Watership Down, I heard it's cute and has fluffy animals! Go watch that, then we'll talk about it again, okay?"
      "Yes, sir."

@@anonymousmcanonymous3055when they return to the office, their superior has a rope on their neck and note on the desk, because they knew their employee too well.
Also, Seere isn't 100% alright. Not only the game manual describes him as having a secret darkness in his heart, his novel reveals to us he actually enjoyed his sister's abuse, as it made him feel superior. He only began regretting it when his mother abandoned Manah in the wild.

@@JabamiLain Oh yeah, absolutely. Again, the only truly heroic character is the one we're encouraged to not even give the time of day, all the others have a big flaw.
PS : wait, the mother abandoned Manah? I though she ran away or got possessed.

@@anonymousmcanonymous3055no. The mother abandoned Manah, the little girl almost starving to death in the wilderness. At the brink of it, the Watchers talked to her, promising her power and unending love (I hope you recognize the trope), in return for her heart and mind.
Also, what hero are you talking about ?

There's something sickening to this song, in context with the mission it's tied to.
Especially when you realize that Caim is taking pleasure in preying upon the child soldiers in a manner just as vile as Leonard desires to. With no thought or consideration for the misery of those he's preying upon.
Only thought consuming bloodlust and rage.

It's a very interesting contrast actually, because Leonard is actively running away from and trying to suppress his desires according to the wider lore. The night his brothers are murdered is the first night he ever embraces his desires, as he was out masturbating in the forest to a group of young boys. Out of sight presumably.
Caim, on the other hand, openly relishes in the active slaughter of however many thousands happen to cross his path. I would definitely dare to say he's the more evil of the two, in the broad spectrum. Hell, we have Arioch as well, who consumes the flesh of children. Leonard, in a weirdly twisted, roundabout way, he's still a pathetic and not great person, but he's probably the only person in the game aside from Seere that I would outwardly say is deserving of empathy. Seere, sympathy.

I like the "On Ground" version better. It sounds more elegant somehow. As if the Big Bad Wolf had some standards while hunting Red Hood, and whoever is accompanying her. As if that was some theatre play for it.

@@I.HEAR.A.SOUND. I just realized I may not be much of a pedophile, but more of a sadist whose love for children has the brain overlap both parts, merging both behaviors into something similar to pedophilia.
This might sound stupid, but I did some research, and it is possible for people who think they're pedophiles to actually feel no sexual attraction towards children, but their intense feelings such as fear or hatred or an unrelated pleasure overlap how they feel regarding children, making them mistake it for pedophilia.
