I live in Moscow, and yet Globus is not a common thing, i watched map and all of them exept one are located outside mkad. What i noticed what they have my favorite alcohol, Hrenovuha (Horseradish tincture) in 0.5 bottles 10:13 left shelf, bottom left corner, grey bottle. Of all common for moscow markets nets (even alcomarkers) only Perekryostok have 0.25l bottles. So it is pretty much rare thing. Anyhow, if you drink alcohol, i strongly recommend you to try it, its is most russian alcohol, more than vodka, i believe so en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hrenovuha
Russell Just to say You are. Doing GREAT JOB showing the Videos from Russia. Because people from around the world don't know Anything. about Russia keep going The. BEST of luck. 👍👍👍👍👍
I live in a rural area of Canada so the markets are not large but very clean, orderly and stock everything one may need, but not a wide range of selections. Everyone knows each other and the store workers are very helpful. Additionally, some markets are cooperatives where a $5 lifetime membership will earn annual dividend payment.
I live in South Carolina...the stores we go pale in comparison to the stores you visit! The Russian people seem happy and unaffected by any sanctions...that's great to see! One question though, Russell...I don't see many smiles or positive responses by the Russian public to you...why is that? You must be known by now! Thanks for all your hard work👍🏻 just became a paying member!
When in a bad mood I watch Russel's videos about Russian supermarkets and they never let me down. Just 5 minutes of watching recharge with so much life and vibrant vitality as if I had a full 2 hours of paid therapy of psychologist. Thank you so much!
Yes indeed. But I live in a country where people can camp in the streets and are free to take as much drugs as they want. Our streets are vibrant and alive and everything in our stores can be taken for free - as long as you get past the okhrannik. Because we have these too now in our stores. And you have to stay under $950 or else it counts as a felony. These Russian streets look depressing. Where are the fentanyl dealers and where is the meth? What about people passed out while standing upright? What about bath salt dancers? It just seems sterile and clinically dead without at least syringes and used condoms on the sidewalk.
And it's people like you that are going to welcome In authoritarianism to democracies around the world because they just don't understand the difference.@@statinskill
@@statinskill I sincerely sympathize with you. It was also difficult in Russia in the 90s, but I don’t remember such despair and neglect. Ordinary people always suffer due to big politics.
Hey Russell, I am Czech, living in your homeland Australia in the state of Victoria and I am envy when I see this choice, we have also Globus, Aldi, Lidl, Kaufland, Tesco and many other supermarket in the Czech republic with so many choice of products and prices and I suffer here in Australia, Cooles and Wooli have always the same sort of products, no choice, Aldi down under has similar products as in Europe but not such a choice. I suffer it looks like in Australia you will be able to earn money but soon you will not have a choice to choose the products to buy, so sad!!!!! I wait till next year when I'm going to fly to Czech Republic and will spend the dollars over there as here is just a basic, little boring! After this video I think that Australia is under sanctions not Russia🤨
man, I currently live in the Czech Republic (I was born and raised in Russia), and the one thing I really miss is the variety and quality of products. Every time I go to Billa, it makes me sad because everything there seems overpriced and poor quality compared to the typical convenience stores in Russia. Kaufland, Lidl, and other big supermarkets are better, but I still have the feeling that it's not enough. Maybe it's because in Russia, we are used to eating slightly different foods, even though our cultures are very similar. In addition, even in Prague, you don't have 24/7 groceries, which is for me kinda messed up.Other than that, i love Czech Republic!
@@jerrylee4485 Yes, the Brits are funny. Always cheering that there is more in Russian supermarkets. Well, there is the Brexit and the fact, that Globus is German (like many products). They are unbeaten...
@@jerrylee4485The supermarkets in Germany aren’t full and even if they were, as much as I know, they wouldn’t have that many options to choose from, even though Globus is from Germany. There are actually many disruptions in the supply chains. The problem in the UK isn’t Brexit, which was one of the only intelligent moves in all the last years. The problem simply is the corrupt and incompetent “leadership”.
@@strasbourgerelsass1467 Globus is not the best one in Russia, we have lots of other chains of Russian origin, which have same range of products and pricing. So there is nothing to do with German origin of Globus, but the main reason is that this supermarket is in Russia. 🤫
Thank you Russell. I live in Manhattan, NYC, USA. My local "super" market is a chihuahua next to your Saint Bernard. My tears of envy have already cost me a box of tissues. Looking forward to more of your excellent videos.
Loved the tour! greetings from a remote beach in Panama. I was actually shopping today, in a proper supermarket. Unfortunately, the veggies and fruits were lacking but that is because Panama has seen 30 days of non-stop protests against the government and daily road closures. A Canadian mining company, First Quantum Minerals bribed government officials including the president and it was the straw that broke the camel's back. I got a kick out of the Globus hypermarket tour, reading all the Cyrillic is a delight for me.
When I see a choice and prices in Moscow I wonder who is under sanctions, we in Europe or Russia?! Everything especially food is 2,3 cheaper than in EU.
in the EU the people earn 2 or 3 times more...so what are you talking about and people always divide by 100, but the ruble crash did not lift the local salaries. therefore the price is much higher for locals...simple maths
@@jerrylee4485 Majority of EU countries barely exceed 1000 euros per month salary. Porugal, Greece, an estern European countries. Even big German economy performs on 2200 on average per capita and they have to pay 1500-2000 euros for simple apartment in bigger cities.
I love watching your videos. This particular one was amazing. I have never seen supermarket, hypermarkets huge like this one. I live in Perth, Australia and we don't have even near big stores like this one. And so soooo many varieties of products like fish, dried or fresh. And many many more products. It blew my mind. This is ridiculous!! So much about sanctions, huh?!! I didn't see a single shelf with an empty spot!! My next supermarket is a Kaufland, which is great cause it's at least a one of the bigger ones (in comparison to your Globus it's a little puppy but I get nearly everything I need there, so it's fine 😁) but even there you see a lot of empty spots cause some stuff didn't got delivered. I live in Germany and our government has managed to ruin my beloved country in 2 years better than the last WW did!! No joke!! More than 64000 businesses shut down!! Businesses that existed since more than 100 years or even longer got ruined in just 2 years because of these incompetent politicians!! At least I haven't voted these idiots! 😒I voted for the opposite 😁I really hope that this nightmare ends soon and our stores will look like yours again too. Wish me luck 😅and thx for the video. Really interesting to see the truth about these "sanctions". I already thought that it's all just hot air and fake but seeing it and getting a proof of it makes it better 😁👍👍

Another German here. These were exactly my thoughts in terms of the sanctions. Interesting how they look like on the ground.😂 But hey, we Germans are allowed to by Russian oil and gas through 3rd country middlemen which costs us a fortune and ruins our economy, sucks us dry and fills some other party's bags. We should be more grateful I guess 🤣🤣🤣(irony) All of this is indeed utterly ridiculous. Such a dog and pony show. Awesome that I stumbled over this video.
I live in Serbia (Belgrade). One bag of Felix cat food is 80 Dinars here (66 Russian Rub). And the variety of choices is so limited that it can't be even compared to this supermarket. Now I'm officially outraged,
Felix in Russia is considered the worst food for animals. It is one of the cheapest (27 rubles/32.75 dinars), it is taken by those who cannot spend the average price or higher on food. But our Felix is very bad; cats get sick from it. I try to feed my cat, as a last resort, the Sheba brand (also considered a low-quality budget food), but it is 10 rubles more expensive (37-42 rubles for 1 bag), and at least Purina Pro Plan. Otherwise, it will be more expensive to treat the cat than to feed it.
@@olovo_ What I do is I try to feed them different types of food every day. Great source of inexpensive food is chicken backs that I can find on farmers markets. Also I feed them chicken livers occasionally. We don't have a great variety of cat food in supermarkets. Quality of cat food in specialized stores and veterinarian shops is a little bit better, but it's too expensive for me because I own 3 cats. Felix and Whiskas are the most common ones. Sheba is considered fancy and it costs 100 dinars (82 rubles) per bag. So, mixture of raw or cooked meat, hard granulated food and bags such as Felix and Sheeba are the best combination for me. Plus I live on a ground floor and own a big yard where my cats can regularly go out to play, so fortunately they live a healthier life than most indoor cats and exercise regularly. Greeting from Belgrade, Privet!
В России шанс умереть от голода реальный...потому что пока определишься с выбором и наконец-то выберишь из огромного разнообразия продуктов что тебе нравится пройдёт очень много времени и шанс погибнуть от голода возрастает.😂
To be honest Russell I am amazed at the size and choice in this Supermarket! It makes the Supermarkets in the UK look pitful! Properly impressed = and the prices! superb! Thanks.
It's the same here in the US. Our grocery stores have empty areas, much less selection and the produce quality here has declined to the point of being nearly unfit for consumption.
Actually, it's Russian typical supermarket in cities, every single city has supermarkets like that. Yea, shops in Russia are much better than houses....
We Russians thank Europe for the sanctions! Due to the reduction in imports, Russian manufacturers were able to increase their business volumes. Thus, Europe has supported the development of the Russian domestic market. We have such a proverb: "A holy place is never empty."
I wish I could visit there from Canada. I must learn to say: "Извините, я не говорю по-русски." I suspect that that food is more tasty than we have here.
Well, looks like the joke is on us, here in Canada food prices have doubled in the las two years, a lot of people are hurting. Looks like we are the ones under sanctions.
Bro, so sanctions against Russia were imposed only by America, Canada and Europe, and the rest of the world formally imposed sanctions against Russia, but still actively trades.😏🤷
So as in Russia :) prices have doubled. for food in the majority, but most of all for cars and electronics. and at the same time, no one particularly increases people’s salaries 😊
@@temnovamaria4006 That's a lie. Salaries doubled as soon as sanctions began to be imposed. All the migrants left and there was a terrible shortage of labor, which is why wages began to grow rapidly.

You can imagine how many global companies from Europe , the USA , Japan have lost huge profits by leaving Russia . Not only stores , this is only a small part of the losses . In Russia , however , little has changed in general . Of course , we must admit a significant increase in prices , but it is not fatal for citizens . Nothing has changed in my life .

I live in Krasnodar (south of Russia) I have 2 cats (sphinx and Scottish fold) and I buy bags with disposable portions (soft food), because canned food in cans is inconvenient - it is unclear how much to pour, the rest must be put in the refrigerator and so on. especially with a cat like the sphinx - they can eat without ceasing and get fat, and there is a clearly measured portion in the packages. and yes, there is a hypermarket of the Lenta chain next to me (about 20-25 ticket offices), and interestingly, the placement of goods for their intended purpose in the store is very similar.... almost one-on-one
