    Phil, I appreciate this may be three years too late to ask. The link for the jig seems no longer valid. Do you have details of where I could buy it? Thanks. Brian

    I’m liking it a lot 👍. For me jigs are the way to go I’d like more jig videos on uTube as I don’t want to use a lathe traditionally ie how they used to turn bobbins 🧵 back in the day

    Hi Phil, once you have finished the sphere whats the best way of cutting the sphere away from the rest of the wood to make it a full sphere

    The link needs updating. The price is now 1p short of £70 and the p+p is another pound but still good value I think.

    It would be nice if you could fix the volume

    First off I know nothing about turning Phil but that Allen key would after be altered as that would do my nut in. Loved the vid enjoyed the oops bits I think it’s important to leave them in and explain why especially with beginners sound seemed a bit low by the way seasons greetings

    • @PhilCannonWoodworking
      @PhilCannonWoodworking  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Phils Workshop your right about the Allen key is annoying, and easy to lose, sorry about sound, but last video someone commented that it was too loud, hey ho.

      Phil Cannon Woodworking for the Allen key here’s a suggestion I recon it’s a grub screw it goes in to I’d be tempted to get an Allen key cut it to size fit a wing nut on either welded or epoxied on then epoxy it into the grub screw as for the sound until this one your sound has always been spot on sir

    • @PhilCannonWoodworking
      @PhilCannonWoodworking  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for fix suggestion. The screw is a cap head so was thinking of epoxying Allen key in the cap or like you have said replacing with a wing nut fixed to a screw, if room allows. Thanks about the sound. Merry Xmas to You as well.

    Hi Phil now you've had more experience with this, is it necessary to keep turning the allan key?

    • @PhilCannonWoodworking
      @PhilCannonWoodworking  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm afraid so, locks everything in place for a better controlled cut.

      @@PhilCannonWoodworking looks too fiddly for my clumsy hands. How can you determine prior to starting what sized sphere you want i.e if you are replacing a ball on a stair rail

    • @PhilCannonWoodworking
      @PhilCannonWoodworking  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@trevsmith4605 if it's like for like, measure original, then make your blank slightly bigger than finished size, then then after rough turning, use sphere jig to gradually remove material until to right size.

    Phil, what was the mistake you made because it was not cutting a sphere but egg shaped?

    • @PhilCannonWoodworking
      @PhilCannonWoodworking  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Alton, thanks for the question. My mistake was that the cutting tip, wasn't set on the centre height.

    • @altonslaughter4652
      @altonslaughter4652 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Phil for your reply. It seems smaller than the rest, wonder how it will do on hard wood ? Can you buy the carbide cutter tip or is it proprietary?

    Pretty sure you don't have to keep using the Allen key
