      This truck plus a big enough trailer to justify it, may as well get a class A. The only time this would make sense is in the case of an actual Class 8 (which of course this is nowhere near) that an owner operator trucker already has. That's pretty niche.

I saw a 2018 Peterbilt 379 500HP tractor and it was absolutely stunning in every way! The driver said he paid $140K for it new, it hauls over 60K lbs, and makes him over $200K a year as an owner/operator. If you are pulling your stuff and not in commerce, no cdl. Colorado you can drive with a standard license as long as it is registered as and rv and not commercial, even pulling your own trailer. Some states have a non-commercial class system for this set up but still not a cdl requirement.

    The regen switch will do absolutely nothing until the ecm/acm prompts the operator to perform a parked regen

    • @hyundairox
      @hyundairox 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not entirely true...
      The regen switch can have a couple functions depending on how freight shaker set up that ISL9.
      Most commonly, it performs what's called an active regen. You can perform one at any time so long as the truck is parked, there are no faults that would prevent a regen from occuring and there is enough DEF to perform the regen. It will cause the ECM to apply a load to the engine to heat up the exhaust as well as inject extra fuel into the exhaust to react with the oxidization catalyst to spike the exhaust temperatures to the point where it will combust the soot inside the particulate filter.
      The other thing that switch can do is prevent the truck from running an active regen. If the ECM is left to it's own devices, it will cause the truck to run an active regen cycle as it sees fit. If you happen to be in a place where you don't want an active regen run, you flip that switch to tell the ECM that now isn't the best time to push 1200° exhaust out the stack.
      Keep in mind that this won't necessarily prevent a passive regen from running, as a passive regen happens when the trucks exhaust is naturally high enough to combust the soot collected in the particulate filter, such as when pulling the Ike Gauntlet.
      Hope this helps.

      I admit the truck is cool but in my opinion I much rather save my money and get a dually or if I want to spend around $100k I might as well get a semi truck with a flattop sleeper, this truck is trying to convince me that it's the best of both worlds but in all honest all I got from it was that I'm better off choosing one or the other
