- Eddie Vedder's tribute to a Chicago Cubs World Series, inspired by Ernie Banks. Vedder asked us to update this video for Pearl Jam's 2013 performance at Wrigley Field, and it played on the big screen that night after a legendary 2 hour rain delay. We originally produced this video for him when the song was released during the 2008 Cubs Playoff run.

Eddie wrote this at the request of Ernie Banks. Ernie wanted a "Cubs Anthem" and Eddie Vedder was the only person Ernie wanted to write and sing the song.

I grew up on the north side in the 50's with a Cub's fan for a father and the running joke in the family was 'the first words I learned to speak as a baby were "maybe next year"'. Next year is NOW, wish my dad was alive to see it happen!!

I'm writing this with tears in my eyes 12+ hours after watching one of my dearest dreams come true. My old man wasn't around to teach me the ways of being a Cub fan. But this morning I showed my son what our beloved Cubs did. That's the beauty of this game, the highs and lows create real magic.

In 1988 my 77-year-old grandmother who was a lifelong Cubs fan was on her deathbed with cancer and was watching the Cubs game and said to me "Well it doesn't look like the Cubs are going to do it this year" 5 minutes later she passed away and those were her final words. GO CUBS!!

My grandfather and my uncle were both die hard cubs fans. Both passed away. My uncle was buried in a Cubs jersey. He wasn't a man that dressed formally. He did wear suits on occasion but for the most part he was very casual. He died from a blood clot in 2009. My grandfather died in 2012 from cancer. They loved the cubs. I believe that they were cheering and celebrating the Cubs world series victory from heaven.

Even though I'm not a Cubs fan (I did root for them in the 2016 World Series though), visiting Wrigley Field is on my bucket list, and should always be the Cubs home.

Being that I love The Cubs and The Red Sox equally, my only disappointment is that The Cubs couldn't have won against The Yankees like The Red Sox won against The Cardinals in 2004.

back in 2012 my dad passed away I remember he was one of the biggest cubs fans i could ever know i remember sitting down for each of these games and thinking of hi the whole way through and how happy he would of been to see his cubs win it all. I also remember the day after going into my calculus class to have my teacher play this video and i could only think of my dad and i was in tears for about a good hour thinking about how i wished he could of seen it and everyone else who didn't get to make it too to watch them win it I've always been a cubs fan and always will be to be honest i don't really care that much if we get another world series yes it would be awesome to get another one but i feel this one in 2016 will be the most remembered one for years and years to come
I’m from Jacksonville, and this song always gets me and makes me smile. I know our boys will go all the way one day and I think of how I’ll be blaring this song when the Jags finally hoist the Lombardi.

my stepfather grew up in the Chicago area and was a Cubbies fan until his deathbed last year, I grew up a 'Stros fan but we made it work! LOL - I will forever back the Cubbies for "GrmpaArnie" - miss you bud...I know you're up in Heaven watching your team with anticipated vigor!!
I was never a fan of baseball, but i understand loyalty and dedication and we have heard of the Cub struggle to go all the way, so to all you Cub's fan's out there, celebrate and cheer, smile and cry, it makes me smile to know you guys made it. One hell of an example to never loose hope.

I'm a Yankees fan. I've had my luck of seeing my team win it all. But I'll never forget watching the Cubs win it all. I was with other fellow Yankees fans watching game 7 against the Indians. They didn't want to watch it, but I forced them to watch history. Baseball history. And they and I were all glad we did watch the Cubs win it all in an incredible fashion. W

A week after the Cubs won it in 2016 I was on an airplane listening to this song on my old IPOD. The person next to me was wondering why I was tearing up, but understood when he listened to the song.

I felt the same. My Daddy got me into baseball, I was raised on "There's always next year" and was genuinely surprised to learn Take Me Out To The Ballgame wasn't written by Harry Caray and changed for the rest of the league.

This song still makes me cry. I can’t help but think of all the fans who left us on earth and didn’t get to see this. Then I think of Harry Caray. I would have loved to have seen his reaction. It still seems like a dream the Cubs won it all.
It was one of the best moments in my life to see my Cubbies win. My Dad died in 2006, to see his team win would have made his life. I've loved my team my whole life, and to finally see them win was just amazing.
My team of lovable losers, of underdogs and "maybe next years" finally did it, and goddamn did it feel amazing.
I will never not watch this when TH-cam suggests it. I will never NOT cry when i watch it. 7 years later and I will forever hear Pat scream out "AND THE CUBS WIN THE WORLD SERIES!"

It's been a helluva ride. We never were the dynasty we were supposed to be, but at least we got one. Back in 2016 it seemed like these guys were gonna be here forever, but I guess all good things come to an end. Hopefully I'll see another in my lifetime, but I know that someday down the line, whether it be in two years or fifty years, we'll go all the way again.

I'm a red sox fan and i was so happy to see the cubbies win the WS because i felt for them. One of my best friends is first and foremost a sox fan but his mother's family is from the Chicago area and big cubs fans so he would always root for them as his NL team. I watched both the sox and cubs win w/him and i couldn't tell you which 1 he was happier for. I also really embraced that cubs team because they had theo, lester and I'm a huge bill murray and eddie Vedder fan

Stay with me through this. I am a resident of Arizona, so I am well aware of the culture and the love that Cubs fans have for their beloved Cubs. I am a yankee fan from birth, however I am a baseball fan first. Whatever is best for baseball is where my interests lie. I was watching this video on 8/28/17 and the first thing I said was "Holy S&() The cubs won a world series. Still amazed it actually happened. Good for you all you loyal cub fans and that you could share that with family and friends who are young and old. Congrats for the fans who suffered so long and are now able to rest in peace. But nuttin was a better feeling cryn into my grandpops cubs blanket n than looking up to the heavens knowning that he finally got one! Im forever grateful to the cubs n the organization. That to us fans wasnt jus a world series. It was much more.

My college boyfriend and best friend would show this to me at least once a month. He was a massive cubs fan. He passed away this week at 27 years young. I remember he would tear up every time and get major goosebumps. Watching this again is now giving me tears in my eyes because it brings me back to him and our time together in college.
