What brand are these canvases? I cant seem to find a good 12x12 wooden canvas that I can use on the back side without staples that is also thick enough to stand on it own? these look great. Also your work is amazing!
Gac 100 has 2 main features. It is there to protect from "support induced discoloration" meaning your painting surface can actually turn yellow if the wood is not treated. This is what Gac 100 was made for. It's also used to seal the back of the wood. Wood draws moisture from the air so if it's not sealed you have a high chance of warping. Some say a gloss medium will also help, but ive only ever used gac 100 so unfortunately I don't have any substitute.

@@hahaaroha4597 Good luck, hey, if you're persistant you may even be able to research the types of chemicals in gac 100 and formulate some alternative of your own.
@@hahaaroha4597 During lockdown, I used matt clear coat on natural surfaces that could draw moisture. I applied the clear coat twice thinly and sanded it down with fine sandpaper after it had dried. Then I prepared the panels as usual with Gesso. When I ran out of Gesso, I mixed my own. I must add that I don't do oil paintings. I used these wooden panels primarily for acrylics or mixed media.

What if you don’t have GAC 100 or if you don’t have any access to it? Is there a good substitute, or could I just use acrylic gesso right away?
