I personally think 14 needs 10v10 traditional battlegrounds It just needs to be open and fun not chaos or cramped This would be for The casual people who want the feel of something fair But don’t want to be in the most chaotic modes
what I want is for pvp in general to look more like WoW let me initiate duels anywhere in the overworld make it toggleable in settings and off by default if it bothers people that much to get duel requests or at least give us instanced arenas for simple elimination matches let us do team matches as well, not just 1v1
The PvP World Quest in the Cobalt Assembly is funnily enough one of my favourite PvP "mods" in DF right now because it's a mode wher eyou run around in a Free-For All colelcting Torghast Powers.I'd love to see an Arena or BG more that does that.
Everything you said was dead on! Only thing I would add is having the ability to duel others in any over world location and adding a pvp zone where pve and pvp objectives are intertwined. Thank you for helping these great thoughts get out there.
Not only are healers scarce in shuffles, the class balance is way out of tune as certain specs can delete healers and underperforming dps even when they're not CCd and/or are being healed. So combine this with players who are randoms to each other meaning little communication except shot calling, shuffles is gonna continue to have low participation until Blizzard fixes the class balance and *MAYBE* promote the use voice chat in shuffles.
Moreover, when your class gets gutted in WoW, rerolling a new one involves a long grind before you can even TRY it. It makes it doubly punishing when Blizzard misses the mark with balance because you have to level AND gear all over again. I haven’t gotten far enough in FFXIV to explore the PvP scene, but the job system looks to be less of a grind, especially to reroll. Part of what probably contributes to LoL PvP being bigger is the fact that you can hop right in and press play without needing to worry about the time sink of content you didn’t come for.
I have friends in FFXIV who are very much pvp heads(one who does WoW pvp and likes that more on both casual and hardcore sides, and the other who played Lineage 2 religiously when it was still good), but don't enjoy the game's PVP because of things intrinsically linked to how the game plays as a whole instead of not having reward incentives. They still play FFXIV because PVE is good and it's a great social game. That made me think about an idea. Have you thought about making a video about how PVP plays in either game and how that can turn away players? Like, specific mechanics that might be unpleasant but have to be in there unless you want to rework a lot of things within the game to accomodate the change. I'm saying this because I don't know about WoW enough to actually talk about it myself.
That's an interesting idea! 14's netcode does make the gameplay more predictive and proactive where WoW is much more about being reactive and trading value.

I mean, every single game with that feature will have those things no matter how much limited people might be. That said, FFXIV's PvP also has a lot of those cheaters, paid carries, wintraders and the like too. I don't really count them because it doesn't matter to my point when it's the same for everyone.

Thanks to crystalline conflict and moogle treasure trove I now enjoy crystalline conflict and frontlines i like the dynasty warriors feel to it. Honestly i will most likely always play solo but adding a que form multiple people would probably increase pvp popularity.

Not having duo PVP in Crystalline is the reason i don't play that mode at all.... Playing that with randoms is just a major pain in the ass.

PvP needs to exist in general in FFXIV. The shit barely fking exists. WoW is good but there needs to be a gear scaling and no gear scaling option.

1 year later, after leaving and returning to FFXIV after the "Big Change," I can definitely say that both the PVP and the healing feels worse.
Never happening open queue in wow.
