I abhor trump's entire family & all his supporters, so I cannot stand to watch the inauguration. Thinking of do-nothing Melania back as First Lady almost makes me ill.
She’s staying in NY for Baron’s college. He’s a grown adult and she still uses Baron as an excuse. She might be in the White House for “f^#*ing Christmas” to deck the halls in the gaudiest Christmas display.
As someone who marched a lot in 2017-2019, I can point out that these protests served to 1) show the world that not all Americans were okay with what was happening, 2) signal to lone Blue people who became aware of the march(es) that there was a large number of people opposing Trump and inspire them to connect with others, 3) buck up those who participated so that they could move forward and form groups in their own communities following instructions from Women's March, 4) allow folks from different states to connect and feel part of a bigger whole, and 5) give people a chance to meet local politicians that they would not ordinarily meet with. I got to meet Jeff Jackson (new AG in NC and rising star) at a march for teachers in 2018 and have been following him and donating ever since. Please rethink the denigration of efforts from people who were totally demoralized in 2016 and needed some way to act. All over the world people protest en masse to show their numbers and promote their message, and they probably always will.
Among the things we need to organize people to do LOCALLY is to LOBBY OUR REPS to do their jobs and shore up what remains of our Constitution and Laws or what is left of them. *Letter*Writing*Parties* for those who think that (issue, issue, issue and issue) is important, with PEOPLE LIKE ELIZABETH, (her skill set) to give us advice on issues like the 14th Amendment, AND people who are knowledgeable about medicine for example to help us FRAME our letters to our Pols on issues like the trans rights or reproduction. (One of the ways to build community strength.)
Welcome back:) I belong to the Santa Clarita Valley Democrats, and at our December gathering it was announced that in early February, we will be mobilizing to help grow services that support and sustain our community and our neighborhoods. I love hearing that you believe this a way to engage people to vote🇺🇸
13:11. You are so right. Look at the National Organization for Women (NOW), in the 1970s and 80s. There was a powerful and extensive community of local NOW Chapters throughout the country. We had regional leadership, state leadership and, of course, national leadership. Sometime around 1987 the National NOW leadership decided to stop sharing the portion of NOW dues that went to local chapters. Essentially they quit supporting the local, grassroots membership chapters where the work was done. Within 5 years the local chapters were all but gone, the organization lost its clout and NOW is now a faded memory. Political organization MUST start, be supported and find its voice from the grassroots level.
Thank you for this (and for answering me on Bluesky). So much good information and advice. I have just followed Karen Attiah on B/sky. All very worrying. I very lucky to be old and living in France.
Break was good, a needed change of pace plus breathing room. Back promises to be daunting but is welcome in its own way. I'm on the other side of my move from CO to NM and need to start sussing new terrain and immediate surroundings while still unpacking.
While I'm down to bare bones watching Legacy Media I keep up with podcasts, newsletters and other alternative media. I won't watch the Inauguration LIVE, but will view a replay on CSpan that night. It's just my way of punishing the media that let us down by not adding to the their audience. Looks like META may have changed course on AI Profiles. Thanks Karen Attiah.
You've disappointed me by saying that we should not enforce his disqualification from holding govt office. The State can allow ballots to have his name. SCOTUS never removed his disqualification. This is NOT wasted time! You misunderstand the ruling. Congress must REMIOVE his disqualification or endorce it!
1:14 PM Eastern At this moment we just saw Johnson of ? vote for JEFFRIES (total 94) and Johnson of LA vote for himself (total 101) NOW is when it will get interesting. Honestly I am betting that Johnson will get it and that he will be challenged for it in a few weeks, February or March, we should get up a betting pool....
I'll be watching the inauguration and taking notes. I'm imagining trumpf wishes he could have a military parade roll by the podium with goose-stepping soldiers.

Good to have ECM back. Monday through Thursday works for me. Need to save up energy for a long marathon that will last for years. We will prevail.
you are right, if people are engaged in community efforts they are already invested in voting to support those efforts.

Welcome back.. missed you, but followed your posts on BlueSky...
So thankful for you here in 2025, especially for Fridays in Trumpland 2.0!
Absolutely agree Elizabeth in regards to Maslow.......

My response to Justice Roberts:
“Ya think?”
That’s your choice

He just lost the first round.
@2:34pm est. Nope he was able to get votes changed in his favor. So Mike Johnson is speaker on the first ballot.
💪🏽❤️🙏🏼

And that AI profile on IG can’t be blocked. Crazy.
Hoping their chaos = incompetence and more failure.
PROJECT 2025 recommended the three judges to Trump and that’s how they were put in.
GOP failing again. Get it together or step aside.😂
