Nobody saying ppl can't wear braids but be fr the braids u get at the African spot if white girld started wearing them often it would be ,so exotic on the good hair to BM and society then before u know history has changed and they somehow started the braid trend, ain't nothing wrong with gate keeping u think white ppl let us rewrite history and say they was slaves?

    Braids are international.
The different styles are culturally specific.
I appreciated everything that she said. She also wanted to learn how to braid, and she did. She also gave credit where credit was due.

I have seen people of my ethnic group who didn’t have naturally straight hair wear a wig silky straight like they had it from birth but someone who has straight hair can’t change theirs with braids😳. You may have forgotten this historical event, but as late as 2022 legislation was passed that jobs can discriminate against somebody wearing protective hairstyles, such as braids or locks. All they have to put as the reason why is “hair”no further explanation needed . so even though you admire the culture and you don’t mind that she is admiring the culture this still has significant percussion reactions for you (black women and men who have been taught and told their hair is unprofessional in their natural state and resorted to braids as a more “ culturally, acceptable option”)is still making laws against blacks and their hairstyle. It’s still a mockery

If you look at African culture we have tribes that have naturally straight hair and blonde hair. The fact the we straighten our hair is nothing new either. We've been doing it for centuries. Egyptians wore wigs all the time. They use things in their time to alter the hair texture too. (This is from a Cosmetologist. I had to study this ) Many cultures have different variations of braided styles. Whichever way you as a person decides to do your hair own it!!!

For the first time in my life I really love my hair & get so many complements. I owe it all to Robin. Having fine ,curly hair it is hard to find the rt products but Robin’s texture is similar to mine so she knew which things would work. Without her guidance I would have giving up early in the transition process & never discovered how beautiful my natural texture was💜

She's not claiming to be black or that she invented braids. Stop trying to gatekeep everything. Cultures all over the world braid their hair in many ways just like black people. The only time it should be a problem is when someone claims to be an ethnicity or race that they are not. Or they try to claim they started it for example the Kardashians of the world who are always getting credit for stuff that black people have been doing forever.
