BEAST WARS "Badass Optimus Primal"

- Optimus Primal is ambushed by Scorponok, who manages to implant a Cyberbee onto Optimus Primal's chest before being driven away. Back at the Axalon, Primal recuperates in a CR chamber while Dinobot explains that the bee is a viral mine designed by Scorponok to infect Optimus's core systems and humble his personality, making him too cowardly to lead adequately. Rhinox deduces that because the mine has infected all of Primal's core systems, removing the bee is impossible without killing the Maximal commander, and doing so would trigger a self-destruct that would destroy everything within sprinting distance. As they wonder what to do next, the CR chamber shakes and is blasted apart. Out stomps Optimus Primal, ready for battle. The cyberbee has had the opposite effect on Primal, turning him into a crazed berserker. Obviously, Scorponok's "notorious incompetence" has caused the Predacon's plan to backfire. Still, in his current state, Primal is now a danger to himself and his teammates, and is still at risk of perishing under the system drain of the mine. Primal wants to take advantage of their enemy's lack of knowledge of the mine's malfunction to launch a surprise assault. Optimus accidentally shoots and activates an alarm, which then sets him into a tantrum. The Maximals try to stop him, but Primal shoves them all away and takes off for the Predacon base on his own. After blasting his way in, Optimus Primal takes on Tarantulas and pins him to the wall with his own weapon. Primal then breaks through another wall to grab Waspinator and blow him away. After tearing through the Predacon crew, Optimus Primal ends up confronting Megatron, who teasingly dangles the cure in front of his nose while giving an ultimatum: Submit to him and live, or stay defiant and die from the mine. Optimus rips the bee from his chest, activating its self-destruct. He tosses it at Megatron and it attaches to the Predacon leader's back where he can't reach. Megatron drops the anti-virus and flees to Scorponok for help. Fortunately for Primal, Cheetor manages to arrive just in time to grab the cure and administer it to the Maximal leader before his spark gives out. Megatron reaches Scorponok, but not in time, and the Cyberbee blows just after the Maximals rush outside the base.

Honestly wish we got to see more of him in his “battle” mode, his mouth being shielded is a pretty dope look for primal

I like how Primal’s (And by extension, Dinobot’s) seemingly reckless plan actually worked…
2:24-2:26 Basically Primal’s equivalent of “Fine, I’ll do it myself.” Thanos would be proud.
In this one episode, Primal acts a lot like bayverse Optimus prime
A literal prime example of both the strength and weakness of this show: they told good and intense stories - but "death" and destruction was only "allowed" when they really wanted a character gone.
If being blown apart would mean deactivation the beast wars would have been over at about half-time of the series, with the Maximals winning on the account of them having survivors. Predacons spent a good amount of time blasting eachother apart.
They make sure every death is around the destruction of the spark rather than destruction of body (except tigerhawk, whose body got completely vaporized)

There were a few unfortunately "discontinued" characters, Skorponok and Terrorsaur deserved better than a lava bath and never being mentioned again, but the show did a great job of making it clear when a character was properly exiting the series.

hahaha too accurate. maybe he had one of those bees on him the entire series.
It’s only now, later in life, did I realize that O.P. traveled from Maximal Base to Predacon Base and not once get an Energon Surge…
Thing is though, Dinobot may have not been far off with assuming the cyber bee would turn Optimus into a coward, fear and anger come from the same place.
At least it would have gotten results.
Watch the actual episode, it was supposed to do exactly that what Dinobot said, Megatron gets pissed with Scorponok because it didn't...

They should do a remaster of all of the beast wars episodes using the animation style of transformers prime, exact story lines and all just better animation (not gonna lie the animation was awesome for the time it came from)

I mean i'd not say no, but I'd prefer a true continuation of the story in some form, or even a reboot as long as it had good writers. Beast Wars is special as it is, and honestly I like S2 and 3 animation for the most part.
@@ataridc don’t get me wrong I like the original version I just think that a revamp leading into a well written continuation would be great, it’d give the new team an idea of the source material so they don’t mess up the continuity like some other shows that stray too far from the source.
Well, at least in beast machines in the second season Megatron made good use of Scorpinok's bad programming

Don't understand why that didn't kill them for good? It seemed like it destroyed a huge chunk of the Darksyde and i can't imagine Megatron's body been THAT durable to withstand an explosion of that size.

@@michaelwilson-xw4hz may be. Or perhaps Scorpinoc and megatron were counting on optimus going into stasis lock eventually, knowing he’d reach the antidote too late.
And i’ll be honest. Megatron from Beast wars and beast machines is more ruthless than regular megatron. If you’ve seen Beast machines then you know that megatron (Beast wars/ machines) stole every transformer sparks. And made mindless drones. Like regular megatron wouldn’t go that far. Sure he wanted to rule cybertron and in some cases Earth and Cybertron. But those were tamed in comparison to beast war/machines megatron.
Maybe it was a failsafe implanted at Megatron's orders? After all, putting Primal in Stasis Lock buys time to bypass and neutralize the Viral Mine, which would ruin Megatron's plan for the episode.
