I think Primal is probably the one movie Maximal I really, really like. Doesn't feel right to only have him without the rest of the team (who didn't really hit the mark for me) but I reckon I'll be getting an Apelinq on day one
Cheator & Rhinox are fairly intersting figures, Airrazor, is pretty much a modfifed Kingdom figure but given the fact she never actually transformed in the movie, I can see why they went that route, thou the mainline Airrazor actually did something different in terms of transformation
Interesting observation i`ve made about this.
The main line one basically does what Season 1 beastwars optimus primal does
and The Studio series figure actually roughly follows the transformation scheme of Transmetal optimus primal, just without the Surf board.
So am I the only one who realizes the transformation is just a more advanced/ complicated version of Transmetal Primal's? Granted, that had one of the best Primal transformations.
I pre-ordered him. Got him and I'm not disappointed. Awesome figure. Little nitpicks. Marketed as Leader Class but it's actually Voyager the big one. But the accessories you get with it and the engineering, yeah I agree with price point. Awesome figure I rate 9.6 out of 10.

100% agree, price seems steep but once you get it in hand its so worth it
Super on the fence about Primal as Leaders are $75 here in Canada. Bot mode though looks amazing, detailed, articulated, and has a good inclusion of accessories. Height may not exactly be on his side but still looks a lot better value than the SS Scourge which retails for about the same has one arm canon and some compromised articulation.
$75? i thought $55 was a bit pricey, glad the only leaders i plan on getting for a while are legacy scourge (which im gonna get at ross, yay), ss101 scourge, and legacy united laser prime repack (i missed the original and toxitron is amazing)

@@adrianl7701 it is. Core is 17.99 (14.99 in 2024) , Deluxes are 36.99, Voyagers are 47.99, Leaders are 76.99 and Commanders are 134.99. it used to be 30 for DLX, 40 for VOY and 70 for LDR

I had the same tightness issue on the transwarp key. I’m order to split it, twist it around many times until it feels comfortable. I did that and it splits much easier
I'd use some silicon oil to lubricate the joint, rather than brute force it.
That's risky. If the joint tis too tight, you might just shear the peg and twist that off.

I just heated mine up with a hair dryer and that worked like a charm. Mine would not rotate at all. I just ended up hurting my fingers, lol
Thats the same problem with me i think its because its so small that its hard to grab both ends
btw, the key splitting is cool. You can put either half on the chains, and they're spikes. Currently, they reside in ports on my ER prime trailer, and are helping red alert, and artfire try and fix ironhide, as helping hand type deals, while manerva and that speedia 500 lambo cop debrief prowl lol.
I got a few figures now, it's hard to remember all their names on a dime lol

I loveee this thing. Ive had it for some time. It woulda hit different with the battle mask tho. And what would have but it over the top for me is if they figured out a way to put an ab crunch but i still love it. Ape mode is really nice too. I also feel like the arms being rotated for the fur to be facing inwards instead of being on the outside was a mistransformation. Cause its literally more accurate for it to be on the outside. Even the front cgi box art shows it that way
I think the arms are errors too, the right arm on my copy is labelled as L2
Hmmm. I can't help but think the arms are way over engineered to achieve very little and the legs really needed more more engineering as they look half finished :/

Your intro for this video was fire, my man. Love to watch the creative growth on your videos. Anyway, yeah this one of my fav Primals ever.
Love this one, but the Takara one edges out a little bit higher simply because it can actually do the accurate gorilla walk. Gorillas actually walk on their first knuckles, not their fists. The extra hand articulation the Ultimate figure has allows for this pose.
I don't have him yet, but this is how I would've made him a voyager.
Give Battletrap the chain, and either give Bumblebee Prime's axe for fun, or just give it to prime.
Now Primal just has his swords and the Key. I also would've simplified his leg transformation by hiding the feet better but w/ the base of the one we got. Voyager!
I just managed to find one today in Target! It was on sale too for like $10 off, so I absolutely impulse bought it and it was ABSOLUTELY worth it!
Yeah, I have tiny nitpicks about this toy but that's about all the complaints I have. Sweet Primus the studio series line for ROTB just hit it out of the park and Primal is the cream of the crop. I honestly can't keep my hands off of him, he is that good.
Leaders are so expensive now, that they've taken commander's spot as the once every couple months special treat buy. that being said, if they are less than great, they go back. I just can't afford to accepts any less. That being said too lol, This guy is my Number 1 for 2023, unless something very unexpected pops up. I've got a feel for what's coming out through 24, and I don't think he'll lose his 1 status untul that concept megs next year. He's by far the most poseable figure my chug ass has, and the one I can't put down, having brought in 9 others SINCE him. Yup, if you on the fence, from a broke ass, DO IT!!!

Honestly one of my only complaints is the lack of a ab crunch but I’m probably spoiled by gunpla and figuarts. Amazingly fun figure
on the thighs were you can plug in the swords, it fits stands with proper stand pegs which makes it a lot easier to pose him and get him into that pose against battle trap in the final battle
That transition to posing was on another level!!!!! 🤯🤯🤯
It was really cool to see the design language as transmetal primal. Had to transform them together because of loved seeing the generations of primal together

I've never really been Into Beast Wars. I'm an Autobot/Decepticon guy. But these ROTB Maximals are awesome! I probably won't pick any up because my little brother absolutely loved Beasts Wars and is trying to get them all while I get all the Autobots. Primal looks amazing 😍 the figure is one of the best Voyager+ Leader class figures I've seen.

This guy is SUPER solid, tbh, I was not expecting anything amazing from him, just thought he was gonna be cool, but no, this guy is a very SOLID leader even though he's about the size of a Voyager, and comes with a lot of accessories, also nice if you have SS Buzzworthy ROTB Prime.
I still want to see all of these SS beasts as new characters from Beast Planet in a future Hasbro capsule line.
I like the Takara cause it’s definitely the most bang for the buck. The price is ridiculous for the studio series should be 39.99 to be honest. Still awesome figure tho
I feel like people think leader is suppose to be big but no the BIG ones are either Commander class or titans class
It used to be back in the day and it was worth now its not and yall can say oh the engineering and detail that's worth it it's really not because we got engineering and detail back then and the leader were huge all for 45 dollars and now we're paying 55 dollars for a voyager with extra accessories when 102 ss prime has just as much engineering as 106 primal its stupid how prices are up because our economy is ass

Peg the chains onto the pegs on the sides of the swords. Put the swords on his back with those pegs facing inwards and the chains look like they're hanging off the backs of his shoulders.
Bigger question is where do you put the key?

Personally I liked the Takara more. The Gorilla mode look better and while the transformation on the SS is not bad, the Takara transformation is more simplify espcially the legs and no kiddles on it in gorilla mode!
Yeah tho in gorilla mode the takara one has awful calves compared to the voyager
I really want this studio series figure but idk if I really 100% want to pay $55. I’ll think about it but this is a great review, good scale and paint though 😊

I have the Yolopark Optimus Prime, BB, Scourge and Optimus Primal, I’m awaiting Cheetor and Rhinox to me them are more satisfying to display and invest into more

I almost bought this earlier but they had SS Snarl and I grabbed it so I can get near the end of completing the SS Dinobot team with the eagerly awaited SS Swoop so I’m happy I chose Snarl to display with Grimlock, Slag, Sludge but man Optimus Primal would have been a instant buy if I didn’t see Snarl. They only had 1 of each. However I would have given up either and have to wait for a chance to find them or get them online if they had the BB concept Megatron oh I want that figure yessssss
If the robot mode had a ab crunch it would fix the gorilla posture.

SS Optimus Primal is great. I bought two of the Primal battle master cannons for him. If you take the spiked ball from Battletrap and the chain from Primal you can make a big whip for Megatron (I gave it to the Netflix version).
He is not my favorite Primal, he's my favorite FIGURE for now, and probably like I said, til that megs drops. I don't really do live action either. I've got maybe 20/25 live aciton figures, so that's not even 10% of my collection, BUT this dude is glorious. I also orient the arms completly reversed in monkey mode, from TTG here. So that the furry big forearms are out front. If you want realism you should also, bend the elbow a little towrds the main body. Like the elbows pushed out in front a little. Watch a gorilla on TNC or something. As he walks off all proudly after throwing poo on a kid behind a gate, his arms are more pushed forward, instead of in towards the body. It looks so good emulating that.
While I’m happy enough with Optimus, Rhinox, and Novakane, I do wanna get Primal.
Im not one for beastformers, they usually all feel lazy. This one(and rotb cheetor) are exceptions because they are so poseable and dynamic

If they didn't bother with the chain details, they could've bring those chain joints closer and add more joints on there.
i cancelled my pre order on this guy but not because i don't want it, i actually really want this figure so bad, but i just wasn't able to afford him by the time of the figure's release, hoping i can get him soon.
$55 is the perfect price because in my area I paid $95 for this toy

You don't need to rotate the robot mode hands. Mind came packaged with them for robot mode the right way.
When I first saw this figure I was pretty sure it was gonna be a good one, now that I have it I legit can’t stop playing with it, I look at it on my shelf and I turn into Oogway

I did intend to get this figure, but as soon as I knew I had Prime on the way that was the moment I ordered it. Definitely a top figure contender, I’m no Beast Wars fan but ROTB got me sold, though I’m not getting Beasts outside of these movies. Agree on the tight connection on the transwarp key, I’m scared to break it too
Also with the arms in ape mode, they are also mislabelled (right arm marked as L2)
Not counting the Masterpiece, I would say this is def the best Primal toy. Although I'm still nostalgic to the 1996 toy

I love the kingdom primal because it just looks so show accurate in bot mode. Monkey mode is meh. So I was hesitent at first to get the ss one because kingdom primal was my definitive primal to display and I like keeping one version of a character on the shelf. But then I bought it just for the hell of it and wow I dodged a bullet with this one because I love it! I almost missed out on such a great figure and even though I still love the kingdom mold this one is a vast improvement for me.

Also, dude, you got the arms backward in beast mode; aren't the big fur pads, which are facing out in robot mode, supposed to remain out in beast mode? The elbow joint goes both ways
Fur pads are outside in movie, also the right arm on my copy is labelled L2, it’s just the way he’s packaged and the instructions so Hasbro error
I’m pretty sure Evan said they went with the faceplate because they assumed he’d have that on for most of the movie

also, if you have balls enough to do it. The heads pop off easy, and for photos you can put the bot head, on the monkey ball "totally organic i swear lol" and get that looking straight at you position, when he's bent down low. Just put the big head to the side til you're done, and be careful with the camera angle, cuz umm.... dude skipped neck day lol but it's totally worth doing.

So I was shopping at target and they had this, I went to buy it but they couldn't get it to scan so i ended up getting him for only 25 dollars (us).
But he's so good I would've paid full price!
(Edit) the forearm panels do have dedicated storge under the arm panel in monkey mode so they don't sit against the bicep

I was really disappointed with this guy. He isn't bad by any means, he's really good, it just doesn't feel complete if that makes sense. I honestly prefer Yolopark to this guys because that Primal just has more of a wow factor to me
