      I like that he has found a new favorite. I'm completely satisfied with my system and am following my own path of evolution. I do remember the epiphany of discovering the obscene dimensional clarity of having all the filtering done before the amplifier. I would totally recommend this kind of system for someone who just wants to enjoy the music and dig into that instead of gear.

    I pulled the trigger on these after being on the fence. My 3rd set of Buchardts after S400, S400 mk2. The value and simplicy these offer was too enticing - will make for a nice clean solution. I will still have my S400MK2 setup where I can fuss with cabling, dacs, preamps, amps and streamers. Can’t wait to compare them.

    • @HiFiHuff
      @HiFiHuff  ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Prob not as Sonus is not a company who send me anything for review. With some companies (no idea if SF is like this) one must agree to certain things, and I do not do that. I stopped playing the game 3 years ago in camera reviews. I decided to never play that game with audio reviews. Therefore I will always be limited to showcasing what I buy or gear from companies who are not worried about what I will say in the review. I do have some dealers who send me things for reviews but some of them have to get "permission" from the manufacturer and many times they say no. I think if a company is proud of their product they should let it be reviewed. I do not do negative reviews anyway as if it's bad or something I do not like I just do not review it. This is not a business for me as I do not make money. Instead this channel costs me money so it's tough to get all of the gear in for review as I do not play the game. Maybe I should start but that's sort of like selling my soul.

    What I take from this is that digital technology has reached the stage where any shortcomings can be corrected by a computer built into the speaker cabinet. You play a known noise through the speakers and record the sound while you wander around the listening area with your phone. The system then calibrates itself to produce a corrected version of any future playback material so that it sounds the best it can. So no need for any other equipment, just these two boxes and a streaming source. Everything is just digitally calibrated to sound as great as possible without user intervention. The end of hifi and super high end systems is nigh because this technique can correct for anything, in theory. There is nowhere else to go from here…

    I don’t get active speakers, what’s the benefits? If you buy a nice amp with a built in streamer you have the cable to the power supply + the speaker cables = 3 cables. If you buy active speakers and use power cables for them + the powered hub you also have 3 cables. It’s supposed to be a “clean look”, but in reality it’s not?

    • @PixelViking
      @PixelViking 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There are pros and cons. It’s not just cables. Active speakers have monoblock amps made to fit that specific speaker. Most have DSP specifically for that speaker’s drivers. Crossover is different in actives (and can even change with simple software / mastertunings). In a surround setup (with WiSA up to 8 channels 5.1.2) cables are shorter because you don’t need to run them all back to the surround amp. Room correction is included (if you get the platin hub). Some actives are ‘Roon Ready’ so you only need a Roon server and speakers (no streamer). Ease of use / setup is the keyword in actives.
      And you can have speakers in many rooms and you don’t need amps and streamers too. One ‘streamer’ in your main room can stream to all rooms - at the same time or to which ever room you choose…

      @jamesmichael900 the purifi woofer is not something we have made (sadly). It's not really a claim that it's the best, it's technically facts. But you could always say that you might prefer the sound of something else, but It beats any woofers on nearly all parameters on paper, and from my experience also in listing test

      Not sure where you saw the $7-8k price. They price them as a pair and it seems the price depends on finish and if you add the wireless hub. They have the special up now until the 31st with some money off. I believe the lowest cost finish is $3650 for the pair. All info is at their site though.

      Extremely long excursion requires a long pleated surround. You don't buy speakers to look at the woofer surround, you buy them to listen to them. These are designed and made by Purify which includes the legendary Bruno Putzeys in the design team.

      The best mid/woofer drivers on the planet, Google Purifi, there's extreme innovation in those drivers, basically they can go to full 20 mm linear excursion in the bass, without any audible distortion to the midrange. This 6,5" driver produces as much bass as normal 8" drivers, so it's more like having a 3 way floor standing, without the crossover between the bass and midrange and compact size. Also, being DSP driven, they are boosted in the deep end, and with excursion limiters, so it will sound far larger than it is.
