The Bravo II in 3V has been my favorite knife for a couple years now. The factory sheath now sits on a shelf. I carry it in my modified Becker BK7 sheath as a drop leg rig. It is always on my leg if I'm in the bush. I am getting a custom leather drop leg rig made by Albion Leather with one of my JX6's in CPM-154 as a companion, Basically it is what I always wanted my Becker BK7 to be. It batons like a champ, feathersticks very well and chops well enough. The more you use it , the more you will like it

I have owned this knife for over a year now and taken it in the woods many times. I love it. I love the bravo line. My EDC knife is the Bravo EDC in M4. I usually use my Bravo one in 3V however, when I want an all purpose knife with me I carry My Bravo 2 in 3V.

I own the Bravo edc, Bravo 1, Bravo 1.5, Bravo 2 and Bravo 3. The only one of those that is dissapointing in any way is the bravo 3 (too blade heavy, handle too small for my personal liking). The Bravo 1 and 2 are outstanding preforming knives. They are paired up in one of my camping kits as my go to hard use knives.

Just ordered the same one... looks so good. Update... this knive it's just beginning before I'll buy Bravo 3 not smaller one. So Bravo 2 it's very good knive.
Another update on this knife after more than a year ... It is so simple and balanced in proportions for me that 20 years ago in the army bayonet from AK47 there is no chance with this knife today. What pleases me about it is good weight, including kinetic strength and simplicity without any goodies weakening its design. In the hand lies perfectly and the maneuverability of the wrist has no delays or resistance. I grew up from a small age among knives when they were still the size of my elbow. It is certainly one of the few that inspires admiration in me. Ideal.

I love it. You're right it does look like a beast, but I could see that being an excellent semi-permanent camp sort of knife. Several uses there I would think.

My first ever Barkie is a Bravo 2. I got it mainly for woodworking, it's basically a very light and long axe which is what I wanted. I make spoons, cups etc and this thing is perfect for getting 80-90% of the shape done. You can do some extremely precise chopping. The blade is straight so you can easily get flat surfaces and since it's long enough it works both as a push and draw knife. Since the spine has only a very shallow drop it works well as a chisel. And I really love the blade thickness since you can get all kinds of grips on the blade part without the need for gloves. Since the tip is also thick you can brace your thumb to do all kinds of heavy leaver cuts and it doesn't fatigue the finger. It's perfect for what I wanted it for. It really does replace a whole bunch of dedicated tools.
It's heavy to carry on a belt, but works on an equipment belt just fine. It's not long enough to be a good trail clearing tool, it's too long and thick for most other camp tasks. It can do all those things, but it doesn't shine in anything apart from splitting wood and making anti-vampire equipment. And you also need a companion for it to do the finer tasks as it's too heavy, too long, too thick for finer tasks.

I never understood why the bravo 2 didn't get any love either? I bought a rampless one in 3v with a spear point and it's the best knife I own hands down! Good to see you picked one of these up Chris. Great review!

Been using one for 3 years now in 3V I love it. Now granted I lived in the desert where a 4-5 inch blade does very well even a 3" blade does the job. But in those moments when I need a bigger knife I go to the Bravo 2. I mainly use my Bravo 1 in 3V but I am considering a LT model.

I own bravo 2 in 3v for years. This knife is so great i even retire my plsk1 by blind horse.
The way its grind saber to convex makes it so easy to maintain, and edge incredibly strong.
I have been using and obusing this knife extensively past 3 years , and i never even once took it to sharpening stone , i just clean it and strop it ,!!! The only thing i did to my bravo is made sheath for it. Leather sheath its come with it is not realy good, i did accidentally cut off that sequr strop right at the first time i drew it out . No big deal and all !!! I got orange plastick bucket out of walmart for $5 , some hardwer and made exelent sheath out of it, !!!!
So guys Bravo 2 is only knife you ever need .
Bravo 1 is a little to shert , bravo 3 is to big.
Bravo 1.5 is good to but nothing can beat bravo 2.,!!!

Where I live, we have predominantly hard woods too, at least in the woods I frequent anyway. Western NY state. I have always liked big knives, so it's right up my ally. I recently bought a BK-7 and customized it too..my very own Jessica, lol. I'm loving it too. Lon Humphry did a Bravo 1 rustic..it's in 1095 though. Not that 1095 is bad, but it's not your 3v. Thanks for showing us this one..I've always wondered about it. As you said..nobody ever really talks about the 2., just the 1 and 1.25 mainly.

Very good knife… for trekking… (& builds emergency shelters in a hurry). Have the model before that one… wee thinner stock & not as big “assed”. Hanging from the belt, it still “docks” into the jeans pocket: easy to sit & ride in the pick-up with it on.

Thank you for another great review! Nice knife, I bought one recently. But really don't know what to do with it rather than play... like you said I'm not planning to go to the middle of nowhere with one knife only :) I watched most of your videos, but you never gave an opinion on different grinds. It would be very interesting to know what do you think, and how do you compare them. For instance, what is good about convex? Mike Stewart says it supports carbides, but none of my friends metallurgists know what's the hell does it mean. I'm too shy to ask Mike, probably he won't answer me :)

This is a a great camping/ 1 day hike knife, paired with a folding knife it covers all my tasks in a day, normally id do a bigass chopper like a jx5 paired with a folding saw and mora kansbol but if i had to carry one blade this would be it purely because its a high end bk7 more or less. My bk7 has gone above and beyond covering all sorts of tasks in one packagaes even though that style of knife iant popular anymore i still love it. The bravo 2 fills the same bill, plus its a batoning monster.

  • @paulmarshall9189

I agree the B1LT is a great knife. Problem with the B2 is the blade is too narrow. The Survivor looks better in that respect, but it has that long swedge. What I'd like to see is is a Survivor with some taper in the primary grind, and no swedge.

I have been carrying a bravo edc in elmax everyday.. I just bought the bravo 1.5 in 3v and I'm loving it. I think the bravo 2 would be just too big for me to carry everyday. I sanded the polish bark river put on the handles off of both the handles and it's so much better for grip.

  • @johnnyra2437
    @johnnyra2437 4 ปีที่แล้ว

You should try to get Ethan Becker and Bark River to start producing CPM 3V versions of the BK7 and BK9... maybe the BK16 and bring back the BK1 too. That way, Kabar can produce the classic models and Bark River can provide a higher end option. If I'm not mistaken, Mike Stewart made the original prototype becker's for Blackjack knives. I know I'd buy then as Becker's are still my go to over the new super steel knives (and I own quite a few cpm 3v, s30v, s35vn, m4, Z-Wear PM, etc) because of how great the work.

What a beast. Looks like you could punch a hole in a Tiger Tank with that thing.

Why don't you do a video showing people how to use the snap on bark river sheaths? I see this all the time on the facebook page about people not being able to snap there sheaths for the first time.

I have the bravo 1.5 ramp-less, and I have always wanted a bravo 2. Where I live in KY. This particular knife could be carried with a Mora while leaving the tomahawk and folding saw at home for long trek camping...also a perfect secondary weapon in the forest because --well, it will never run out of bullets.... : )

I have had my Bravo 1.5 for about 2 year and that is the knife I often bring when I am in the woods. Together with my little Bravo EDC, the two are a very good couple that solves most of the challenges one faces.
