I got a Mora knife with the wooden handle and hand guard, and since it was a high carbon steel, I forced a patina on it by smearing mustard all over the blade and letting it sit for a few hours. It got an awesome patina that made it almost look like Damascus steel. I then used a wood etcher to carve patterns in the handle to make it my own. You do you man. If it makes you happy, that's what the purpose is.
cool but boring MOST people who buys these will do just that many will sit in safes and storage to be sold in the future for more, maybe half will get used and will all form a natural patina VERY few wilol keep it polished and still use it...
I think to truly make it your own, you need to just carry it, and let it patina naturally from your hands and from bouncing around with other stuff in your pocket. That being said, I've also known people to force patinas, and let the "tumbling" action selectively wear an polish the patina off.
I LOVE a natural patina but ive been there done that several times already its no longer special to me thats why im trying something new but I agree it always looks great...To to make it special I chose this becasue I doubt many if any will try this with this specific zippo...
