What edible fish can you target with crab? This may be an odd question, how do you catch them, and once you have one, how do you "kill it / let it die", to be used for bait?
Here in America you can catch Sheepshead, Red Drum (redfish) and black drum on crabs. Redfish and sheepshead are some of the best eating inshore fish in the ocean. Typically you catch the crabs at night using a flashlight and just simply running up and grabbing them when you see them. Its actually a very effective technique and you can easily catch a weeks worth of bait in a night. And usually they’re just hooked on the line live and whole. Some people use small rubber bands like the ones for braces and just rubber band the hook to the crab, that way the crab stays alive and can move around more naturally.
If you want to kill them first before using them as bait, submerge them in ice and sea water,(use sea water since it’ll make a salt slurry). That will quickly kill them and also preserve the bait if you’re not using it immediately.

Sea Bream only and I really mean only!!! Bite on crab in the summer, no shrimp no squid nothing, just crab.
