James Garner was always one of my favorite actors, from the days of Maverick, and The Rockford Files he was always a winner... For a 1992/93 movie the color and clarity was excellent.

@Snaggle Toothed The Skin Game is still a very good movie. I don't think you meant that politics changes the quality of a film, but that's what the semantics of your sentence said. Just like "Tom Sawyer" and "Huckleberry Finn" are outrageously politically incorrect today...they are still great literature. Admire your comments from other videos, btw...

Extraordinary. The snappiest, brightest dialogue than any other movie made since, say, 1940. Garner is perfect. Highly entertaining - about something that would otherwise bore the ass off me, In fact, as Garner's character might say, I'd have to borrow another ass. Much thanks for the upload. Bright, charming movie. Very very watchable.

It has been years since I saw this, since maybe a couple of years following its release. My job at the time this was new was at a place where the manager kept the lobby tv on HBO all the time. As I watched this today I was surprised how much of the dialog stuck with me. For years I have used expressions I picked up from this movie and had forgotten where I'd heard them. "Skiing down Mt. Bullshit", "It's like smoking blackboard chalk", "Prick probably hates cookies, too", and several more. And having watched several dozen hours of Watergate hearings on TH-cam a couple of years ago it was amusing to see Fred Thompson walking around in a Superman outfit the first time he's seen in this.

But it's nice to see some good research for the movie, as Winnipeg, until the late 1970's, had two daily newspapers; the Winnipeg Tribune with the lower circulation and, no longer in business, was the morning paper and the Winnipeg Free Press, still in business, was the afternoon paper.

"We're not just talking f*%k you money John, we're talking f#*k everybody money." Ross Johnson
....... LOVE IT! Before there was a Bobby Axelrod (Billions), however neck to neck Gordon Gekko (Wall Street).

The book was an amazing read, the show, so so. If you want background to this event, try Den of Thieves, the story of Ivan Boesky who got the ball running, that's a great book also!

James Garner and the movie is a big hitter

The movie was more accurate than I expected, but it really let Johnson and his cronies off the hook in one sense. The spending of corporate money for the most lavish personal lifestyles was far far worse than shown here. Athletes were paid hundreds of thousands with token responsibilities so Ross could hang with them. They used the jets at whim.

"Premier" good choice for the name since usually they are a one time event. This movie does a great job of gift wrapping a turd. In reality because of the debt, the employees picked up the tab by losing their jobs en masse.I wonder how many years will need to pass before Hollywood can make Bernie Madoff seem likable?Granted it is difficult not to enjoy Jack Garner's performance. What a great guy.
