I think all three can run the offense well. But there is a difference between the talent and ceiling of Moore and Merklinger. No doubt Moore can run this offense but he's had the exact same number of starts as Merklinger. 0. There is a reason one was nationally ranked where he was and the other night. This is no disparity on Moore whatsoever. But the arm talent, judged by all the same media that ranked NIco number one, ranked Moore where they and not where they ranked Merklinger. If Heupel was at TN 3 years before he was, would he have recruited Moore? No matter what if Nico were to go down, he would play them both as Moore is gone next year and Merklinger would be solely QB2. With a headset, and a season of preparation, I'm not sure there is anything Moore would know to do that Heupel simply wouldn't tell Merklinger to do through a headset or sideline call. I feel with this offense, Moore could win games against a UK potentially, as well as MSU but no chance at a UGA or Alabama and likely not OU. In game time are talent is a hard thing to predict. Moore has the ceiling arm talent to beat a Bama or UGA. Both have played well and learned much but imo, QB2 cannot solely be run by a single QB between these two. I hope we don't have to find this out the hard way but it might be game specific which would start but imo, both would play in said game.
