    I just realized part of what makes this so beautiful is the sound of longing in her voice. It sounds like her heart hurts when she speaks. Rewind. Listen again as she speaks of the stars. Do you hear it?

    i love the parallel, the way she presents to us the wonders of humanity while presenting to us the possibilities of a bigger world and greater wonders out of the universe - like a reminder to be humbled by our experiences. it's truly a beautiful presentation and i thoroughly enjoyed every single moment of it.

    This was incredible. The way it painted humanity as just a little fish. I think that it portrayed the arrogance of humanity in perceiving itself as more than animal. I especially appreciated the way she utilised the myth that goldfish have a six second memory in order to further characterise the true ignorance behind humanity's elitism.

    This idea that there is more than just us. We are not the base that all things will be judged off of. To things outside of ourselves, we are nothing. Just another speck. And yet, there is so much inside of us that an entire universe could not contain it all. There is always so much more. More emotions than words can describe. More art than the hand can draw. More experience than a life can keep. We are all never ending. We are all a universe of never ending "more's".

    I don’t know if it's just me but at times when I start to daydream I think to myself, “why am I only seeing the perspective of Viviana? Why am I living this life and only this life?” I feel like this video is a bit similar to the curiosity I sometimes get. We only see the perspective of “humans” and see fish as something “stupid”. We think we have gotten to know everything, but what is everything? Everything got us is the various lives on land, and planets in the outer world, but there’s more to outer space, there’s more to life. We only think of the life that is here but not the life that we still have not met. We have not discovered everything because everything to us is very limited. What if people we have not yet met have discovered other things that mean everything to them. We focus on the life of humans only and not life of others outside of this bubble of “everything”. I enjoyed this video a lot, it brought up more ideas to think and daydream about and get myself lost in.

    I am in love with the abyss the speaker portrays in her message. Seeing the world and understanding that there is much more that escapes our understanding. Her sarcastic tone as she speaks to the "silly fish" throughout the whole video and then it flips as she regards humans in a similar way. I think sometimes we are egocentric and think the world revolves around us. The main point of this video is to open our eyes to our ignorance and to at least be aware that there can be so much more than what meets the eye.

    The poem is one of my favourites and I feel so good when I listen to it, but I don't think that we know almost everything because there are so many questions without answers and so many unsolved misteries. I do not think that it is possible for us to know everything. Yes, humans are amazing and they do such wonderful things. But there are times when I just tell myself this question: How can we be so silly? Because, I have to admit it, we are often silly. It is different: there are great minds here which can do so much and I wonder how everything is possible because we have evoluated so much and after that I wonder about how are we stuck here on this earth where are so many things to do and to discover. Or at least, that's how I see things.
    And I am going to say it again: I love this poem si does anyone know another poems like these one? The song on the backround matches perfectly and I love the simple drawings. Her voice is so calm and the things that she is talking about are true. Sometimes I think about what she says here too. :)

    Upon watching the video, I got a better understanding of existentialism through perspective. The animations throughout the video provide insight into the complexity of existentialism. The comparison of the human to the fish illustrates the superiority that humans have against all living things. However, despite us humans thinking that we’re so much better than all other living things, we’re all the same. At the end of the day, all of our memory and capabilities vanish once we die like if we never had the power to do anything. We’re so blinded by our own existence that we often forget we were nothing at one point of our existence. This also made me think about how we take life for granted instead of just appreciating it. We’re so stuck on trying to prove ourselves to the world and trying to figure out our purpose that we forget none of that will matter once we’re dead.

  • @joannaramirez603
    @joannaramirez603 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Wow, this video was mind blowing. The visual art and the author's particular words used for the poem was amazing. I could see her message clearly. Humans can be stunning creatures that hold power, however we value ourselves too high. Our arrogance leads us to create such atrocities. We are not as innocent or simple as fish. This depicts the beauty of human nature, however it reminds us of how little we are compared to the eyes of another higher beings. As our minds advance, we get more fascinated over things we have studied and used such as trees. In addition, this can venture to existentialism. The concept of the whole video correlates to how our existence is above all. Our existence makes us who we are and shapes our surroundings. We are the ones that make our decisions as we go through life. Our existence is above all in the eyes of an existentialist.

    I was awed at the end of the video. How does God see us? Does he see us the same way we look at the fish? Imagine the power and strength God has on his own compared to what power we have over a tiny fish. Is it how much we know and what we can do that truly defines us as a people? I really enjoyed this poem and the meaning was powerful.

    This video to it mentions how people have more to them than what they let people see. The animation in the video was able to help to understand the video better, as it gives you a sense of what some people might be feeling. Therefore I think that the animation allows the viewer to connect with video better. In the video I think that it is talking about how us as humans have a lack of communication with nature as it says that we are stuck in a circle and to me the circle can be like technology holding us back from actually being humans. Overall I think the video helps people to be able to view the world in a different way, as it helped me to get new ideas of the world that we live in today.

    This poem was beautiful. It is reminiscent of existentialist thinking that no matter what we do and what we as a species accomplish, it ultimately holds no real value or purpose. That we as a species dedicate so much time and effort to strive in life and discover things but that it isn’t really going to change anything. Humans look down on other species because we can think abstract thoughts and predict and analyse; that we have created numerous innovations for the purpose of finding our purpose, but that it will never make a significant change because at the end of the day, we are still insignificant when compared to the universe and time. That we are like the goldfish, trying to get out of the bowl and discover what is beyond that thick veil of darkness that we call space. We should ultimately conform with the notion that nothing is changing and that we are insignificant.

  • @eduardojuarez5110
    @eduardojuarez5110 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    This piece is truly touching, the simple comparison of how a fish means so little to a human is a perfect example that revolves around the notion of existentialism, a special theme that provides a system of how things can really be. Humans can really do it all, it most deeply provides a god status when a parallelism is amazingly described and annotated to the point where a fish signifies its own meaning, the way the belief of existentialism means simply to exist, while also suggesting something greater exists. The journey the poet takes here is expanded into how meaning shift through perspective, as humans we tend to see the world as our servant and many try to bend things accordingly, however they are always limited by something, every being is limited by death, maybe the next existentialist term. For the most part, this under;yield the notion of being nothing when compared to a fish of a god says the same thing about us being in a circle over and over again.

    What does it mean to be human? I wonder many times at night and ponder about my mere existence. What is my role on this earth? What is the point? At least once in your lifetime, you question your life and existence. At times, I overthink too much and yes, it does get overwhelming to not exactly know the purpose, but perhaps, we do. Being human is the most beautiful thing. We are able to feel a wide range of emotions. These emotions is what makes us human. There is nothing more beautiful than being able to feel and live. Whether you are happy, sad, angry, this is exactly what makes us human. We exist to be human and be creative. We are here to understand and this video allowed me to understand even more. I will always wonder what it means to be human and why we have all these range of emotions, but I could not be any grateful.

    I was able to capture the sarcasm this narrator provided throughout the video. This video expanded my knowledge on existentialism grew even bigger. A sort of comparison took place between a “little fish” and humans. Us, humans believe that we are superior for being on land when in reality we are just as equal as any animal or tree. In my perspective, we humans must attempt stop trying to be better than anyone and be better for ourselves as individuals. There is more to us than what we allow others to see. I also believe that it describes how we have no communication with nature as well as with other people and we fail to view things from a different perspective. As the previous video described, we are unaware of what our environments are going through and we will only realize it then when it is too late because we are selfish to give some of our time to other things rather than ourselves.

    This poem was brilliant. I loved the way it was structured, the way it was said and the ending that followed behind it.
    We as human think of ourselves as the superior being that has no flaws. We think of ourselves as the only beings capable of overcoming any hardships. Everything below is seems to be unable to comprehend the things we have achieved as humans. They are but a speck of dust compared to us that are able to do so many wonders. However, our existence is just the same as theirs. We are all here without a purpose to serve but rather a purpose to make. Why do we believe we are such strong beings, yet do not even know the purpose for our own existing. We search our earth, we search our Galaxy and we try to search our universe, but this just seems to an excuse because we are scared. We are scared of the unknown. We do not know why we exist. We do not know why we live out lives just to die at the end and become nothingness. We do not know if we are reborn, if there is a god, if there is any actual reason as to why we exist. We simply know nothing. As humans we just search to fill in that hole of not knowing. I enjoyed the ending of this poem. Where a being far from out knowledge, compares us exactly how we compared the fish. The humans are compared to being "stupid" because we are unaware of everything that exist above us. The lives we could have lived are forgotten as a mere dream that could have been. The trees still astonish us over and over even though we know they exist but not why they exist.

  • @deniellegill1968
    @deniellegill1968 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    “Humans” written by Meghann Plunkett was very impactful when she mentioned how God would think of us similar to the way we view the fish. Like the fish we too are stuck in the same “circle circle” glass as well as get our “minds wiped clean” with every rebirth just like the fish every six seconds. I found the comparison between the fish and human meaningful due to the fact we speak of all the great achievements we have accomplished, but at the end of the day are utterly meaningless because as the author mentions we forget about everything and are born again to repeat the never ending cycle. One point I did not understand from Meghann Plunkett was when she mentions that “trees are surprising to them everytime”, referring to surprising to humans. All I could think of was how people are so intrigued by nature which could be what the author is trying to say; however feel as if there might be a deeper meaning to it.

    In this video it demonstrated that there is more in the world than the human eye can see and she expressed this by the parallel, the way she presents to us the wonders of humanity while presenting to us the possibilities of a bigger world and greater wonders out of the universe like a reminder to be humbled by our experiences. it's truly a beautiful presentation and i thoroughly enjoyed every single moment of it. I also believe that the silly fish represented a person and how it is being selfish the animal only cares about himself and no the people around him. Overall this video demonstrates how we should care for other and not just ourselves and be aware of what is going on.

    As I was watching this video, I can make a connection to existentialism. The fish can represent the people who force themselves to be someone they aren’t, the ones who follow someone else’s footsteps instead of following their heart. Meghann Plunkett states that the fish cannot dream and do not think outside of the box. The reason for that is because they grew up with old faith. They do not think outside of the box which is an advantage humans have. Humans are able to go to the moon and dream about their accomplishments, but the fish will only stay in its bowl because it is afraid to think like a human. Humans express their work of art in materialistic goods and books while fishes only swim with the surrounding they grew up in. Humans start to advance once they build cars and special materials for individuals who have trouble seeing, while fishes just swim in clam waters.

  • @amberdavila2743
    @amberdavila2743 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    The concept of this video is that there is many things out there than simply humans. We, humans, are not the foundation of all the things to be judged from. Having too things from the exterior within ourselves, we are just another speck or object. And also there is more things on the inside of ourselves than what the universe can sustain. There is always so many things to explore and to be found. Humans have been advancing for many years and keep on advancing even more which makes them diverse and complex. If we would break down what humans can do it will take eternity to do so. For say, more ideas than what the brain can think of, more experiences than what life can keep, more art that can be drawn besides what our hands can draw. We are technically a universe that has never an ending. There is so many things to be discovered and explored.

    This video mentions that there is more to us than what we let people see. The animation provided allows the viewers to obtain a better understanding of the meaning. I was able to look at this video from a different perspective as well. I believe that existentialism is making us be viewed as something small in this world if that makes any sense. I also believe that it talks about how we have no communication with nature as well as with other people and trying to view things from a different perspective. This video allows us to think deeper on a certain topic or thing. It has a connection to nature and other things that can be found around us. Overall I believe that it talks about the importance of viewing things from a different perspective to get a better understanding. This video has brought different ideas and how to look at things differently.

    I really liked this video because it connects humanity to a fish. To me, this example represents on how humans are more superior than all living things, and mother nature. Even though we are compared to a fish in the video, we also have some similarities. The common thing we have in common is that everyday we wake up to the same situation, school, work, sleep. We also survive just like fish. You never know when our last day is. Society does let us live our life to the fullest because everyday is repetitive. Finally, this video made me realized to see the life differently, and enjoy what God has for humanity.

  • @lizbeth9545

    Meghann Plunkett’s video, Humans, made me believe of the egocentrism that most humans have obtained throughout their lifetime and have lost their focus in searching for a purpose in their life by the development of all our superior power that we have against other creatures today. The video reminded me of all of the conflict that society is going through right now in which we are divided by groups to compete in the amount of power that we contain; however, the idea of Existentialism states how we have the liberty to define our life regardless of how is watching or judging. We have the liberty to take advantage of the items and the environment that we are surrounded by; however, many of us set our minds to become superior to other creatures such as the fish mentioned in the video which could correlate with groups or creatures we believe are below us.

    Humans always think they are superior to many things that surrounds us like the gold fish in the glass bowl. We think we are truly free and have discovered everything there is, but in reality we are like the fish in the bowl, we have only scratched the surface of our existence. Humans are stuck in a bowl which is our limit of remembering each life till the next one. When she is describing the fish, it all starts to make since towards the ending that the entire time she was talking about how humans are. I like the way she structured the poem and how well it went with the theme it was trying to portray.

  • @itzelmora7459
    @itzelmora7459 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Through this video, I was able to get a sense of superiority from our kind. We often believe that we are almighty as we can think, remember, dream, like nothing else. Our sense of existentialism is very clear in this video as the reader mentions several accomplishments by which have become possible because of us. We tend to believe that we have the power to create anything and accomplish anything and be superior to any other being but we are not. Sure we discover and become more knowledgeable day by day, but we are nobody to the universe but just a speck of cells. We look down upon what we can, but we tend to forget that we are not as high up as we seem to believe. We have the ability to do so much but this video shows us how someone above us views us just like that fish. We are no different than a fish to someone above us. We have limits as to what we can create out of this world and what we can contribute to have a sense of existentialism. We've gone out of our world, we've created so many devices, and have tried to be the most advanced species yet still wonder so much and become astonished about a tree that can do none of that yet still be questioned by us "superior beings".

    As I was watching this video, I had make a connection on Existentialism. I found this video to be mind blowing, her message was very clearly how she used her words for the poem. I believe that the fish can be a representation on people who force themselves to become someone they are not and they follow other people than instead of following their own heart. The humans can be stunning creatures that hold the power; however, we are valuing ourselves too high. We are not simple nor innocent as a fish. The concept that this video creates is that how existence is above all. Our existence is what makes is above all in the eyes of an existentialist. Humans begin to advance once they have start to build cars and materials for individuals who are having trouble seeing, while fishes just swim in the calm waters.

    This poem really got me thinking how we could just like the fish mentioned in it, be living in only a “bowl”. There is plenty of stuff out there in the universe, there may even be more than just one universe; however we wouldn’t know because even though we are so advanced, we are still limited. Even though we are the superior species ruling earth, we are still enclosed. This video also got me thinking about our government and how it runs. How they keep the people restricted to most of the things going on around them. Trying to prevent them from learning about things that could help them grow. Just as like the fish mentioned in the video. Another thing this had me thinking about was how, sometimes people underestimate the capabilities of others. How they tempt to judge them rather than give them the tools they need to become better and this can be reflected in our society. We would be better if only we would help each other out, but there’s always a need for a difference in ranking. Just like mentioned in the video, on how humans are the matters species on earth compared to the fish.

    This video makes me consider the manner in which we take a gander at different things, for example, creatures. We trust that these creatures even recognize what we experience. This video gives a little depiction of what us people experience. The people see these fishes as a way that they are set in this aquarium where they can't escape. They can't go out there and live what we live through, fundamentally their live it entirely exhausting. We say every one of these things regarding it yet then we see ourselves a similar way. We are caught in this world, for example, earth that we can't escape, we are fundamentally similar to a fish. We experience very similar things again and again which is a similar way angles experience. This video influenced me to accept pretty much every one of the things now and then we aren't ready to escape since we are being caught.

    We can identify ourselves and control our own destinies and even those of others. To define ourselves we require self awareness as we can see others and put them down rather than focus on what we really need in the life we live. The information we see is always gonna appear and reappear just as history would in any generation, but we seem to forget this fact and it could take us down as a whole individual, not as a society. This is no domino effect. Our mindset will help us improve together, but we forget that and we can teach those who need it, but rather forget them and just throw it all down the drain. The little we know can be a good thing as there is so much out there. We see others as perceiving us, but there is much more out there. Are we taken for granted as well? We have the mindset of superior, but who is beyond us looking for a comment to our us down.

    In reality, aren’t we all that “stupid fish” at the end yes they will never be compared to us in the way we move in our daily life in the way we are able to do different things but, don’t our minds stay in the same place as always? Don’t we try to change but then end up changing the fact that we want to change? Indeed this was a a tremendous work of art that got to my heart deeply. I was able to realize the hypocrite I am blaming others when instead I should blame myself.

    Within the first sentence of this poem, it immediately caught my attention I honestly enjoyed it so much. Maybe because my own thoughts often wander on like that. The hilarious idea that we humans often think of ourselfs as superiors, we often put up ourselfs in a high pedastol because we have "accomplished" so much and we have come to the concluion that we can overcome anything, there are no barriers for us that we can not go over. We make fun of the fish for living in such a small bowl, that it does not remember past a second yet we live exactly the same way. We use to live so long our memories were stronger than they are now, we live in a small tiny world, often searching the galaxy and such the thought never crossing our mind that we might come across someone much more superior to us. I enjoyed the ending because it came back to a full circle with God calling us stupid for livibg just like the fish.

    Humans as a group are caught up in their own lives and the problems that they face every day with little thought of anything that isn't immediately in their line of sight. We can go our whole lives thinking that we are on top and that nothing can take that from us and that is what leads to many of our problems. Because we can't think of anything other than what is happening today and how we can get that satisfaction that we need at this moment we are only setting ourselves up for a harder time in the future. We allow ourselves to become alienated from those things that are separate from us and that gives us more opportunity to think that we are superior which is the very thing that provides us with war, and pollution, and so much hate for people who are just a little different from us. We give no second thought to the idea that maybe there is something out there that is better than us because we never allow anything else to get that chance that we had. Instead, those things are stifled and pushed down until we don't have to see them anymore. This alienation makes us see the fish as inferior, and instead of appreciating the differences it has we instead look at it and see the differences for how they make it different from us when we should see the similarities we have. After all, we are both only able to see what's in front of us and then it is easily forgotten, and we can never see or understand anything that is beyond us just the same as the little fish stuck in the ball.

    The idea of being alive feels so confining; it’s as if the moment that I was born, my fate was sealed to belong to death. When I was little, I always thought that animals had superpowers, I wanted to fly like the pigeon above me, run as fast as the cheetah I saw at the zoo, and breathe in the bright ocean like the dolphin I observed. However, what I envied the most was the elusive mantis shrimp that saw twelve-fold more colors than we ever could. Walking in the sidewalk, I would see the pebbles that I knew had bright colors embedded within them, but alas I would never be able to see them. I would never be able to wear the colors that exist since I will never get to feel them. We have evolved countless of times to become the most intelligent species with limits only our physicality creates, yet one feeble species of shrimp get to experience all the alluring colors, how nonsensical is that!

    In this video Meghann Plunkett is based on the ideas that humans are superior to other species in this case fishes. She uses sarcasm when she mentions “I’d hate to be you, stuck in that circle, circle glass bowl” to the fish because in the end all we are is people stuck in a sphere that are just equal to a tree and an animal that can't remember anything after every rebirth. This can be related to existentialism since we are so evolved that we can be happy, make eyes for people to see, and reached the moon. But in the end we are also just stuck and can't be happy so we have to enjoy our time alive since your brain will only remember one life time at a time.

    In this world, we the humans believe to be the main characters of our universe. This leads us to believe that anything that is not human, is essentially below us since with time, we are able to eventually conquer that part of the universe. Here we see that a fish is compared to the many accomplishments that we have or will have made in the future. The result is that a fish would be “stupid” to us since its life is limited due to its inability to dream and change. This gives humans a goal so to speak for ever-evolving creations to prove how much we are capable of. This mindset is made to ignore anything deemed inferior and for that we separate ourselves from the world. We do not regard our own surrounding and the value of everything around us instead seeing it all as a tool for our own gain.
