    My wife and I are history nerds, so of course, we are moving to Salem from Seattle next month. Of all the videos we've watched about the area, we have enjoyed yours the most. Keep 'em coming. ;-)

      Wow- moving to Salem! Seattle is a beautiful city as well. You will have no shortage of exploring and side trips in this area. I hope you love it and maybe I'll see you in Salem!

    I'm a history nut and particularly fascinated by the history of Salem. Your videos are wonderful and have led me down many rabbit holes of further reading. Thank you for your work!

    French Canadian here :). Regarding the pressing; translation of the hard and forceful punishment would be: "peine forte et dure" instead of "durech". Very interesting videos and pictures that you share on Facebook, Beth. Love Salem, and all history of New England. Thank you for all that you share, I can enjoy from afar :-)

    Beautiful cemetery 🖤 Have visited once, hope to return. Such sadness and terror, now very peaceful. Amazing history, all of it. Great video.

    Beautiful video as always and great story! Thank you also for clearing up the "land grab" theory. However, there is one small tidbit that many do not know. Giles did plead "not guilty." However, what he does not follow it with was "by God and my country," which was required. So, as I understand it to be, they were waiting for him to say that last part of that sentence which Giles refused to do, even when those rocks were piled on him.

      YES! You are correct on that. What I understand is he also said he was innocent under arrest, but because he never completed his plea in the meeting house they could not proceed. There are lots of nuances about these times that would make for a very long (but very interesting) tour if I could include them all!

    loved the part of the parker brothers games and about the jail! so interesting! Finally I know what the small tombstones really mean! I am a historian so thanks for a very interesting video full of info!
    I have one question though, they say it is crazy to visit during mid or end of Oct, you think visiting around Oct 20th is that packed? what about visiting after Halloween? is it still cool and with some momentum? we are planning to visit from Mexico City.

    • @SalemwithBeth
      @SalemwithBeth  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Visitors who think Halloween is too busy now visit earlier in the month of October, so pretty much every weekend is congested. It depends on what you are looking for. October is fun with weekend festivals, events, and lots of people watching! If you want to avoid the huge crowds come on a weekday in the fall (will still be busy but not like the weekends) or come in the summer which is beautiful! You can add a sail on our harbor and see the beautiful gardens in bloom.

    So interesting. Can you do some videos on Salem B&Bs and historic homes.?

    • @SalemwithBeth
      @SalemwithBeth  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I will put this on my list! Salem is now passing some Air BNB guidelines which may change things. Lots of conversation about affordable housing vs. short term rentals

      Oh, I was born before ALOT of things we use all day, every day. Crazy the changes that have taken place in the world since 1960...
