I enjoyed this production Dan. My dad purchased N2347 along with the 2 other original 110 Specials, N15E, and N101H in 1968 and set about rebuilding them. We finished N15E, now in the EAA Museum, and then began work on 2347. Bill Symmes desperately wanted a Clipwing, so Dad made a deal with him to finish it for him instead. Sadly Dad died in April 1977 so Bill had a cadre of friends whose work Dad respected finish it up. I’m pleased to see it’s still managed to survive to this day and hope to someday see it again. It’s the most actively flown 110 Spl since the early Seventies when Dad and John McCulloch, in N36Y, often flew together at flyins around the Carolinas. Thanks again!

Thanks, Dave. Such cool history in these airframes. Thanks to your Dad there are some survivors that could have been gone forever! I have flown in N2347 and it was pretty amazing.

@@c170bdan That had to be exciting! I remember riding with John in Little Butch doing flybys before we finished 15E and seeing 225-230 ias diving toward the runway!

Hi Dan - I saw this plane today at the Ranger F23 fly in. I had never see this type before and got on my computer to find out more about the aircraft. It is just a great looking airplane!

We were sitting near this Clipwing yesterday so you may have walked right by us! Such amazing little vintage airplanes. Hope you found our web site too that shows the brief history of the Clipwings.
