I was personally very impressed with how level-headed she was during the experience. She was calling out instructions left and right while forcefully pinning herself to the gator in anticipation of the roll. The way she coached the guy through pinning and then escaping was equally as impressive to me.
You could tell she went in on her own! Lindsey, you are badass, and handled it like a champ. Can't imagine having to deal with all this crap after.
She had amazing instincts to roll when the alligator rolled. Than leg locking it’s head was mind blowing

She made it look like instincts but that was professional excellence... She was nervous about missing the timing of her shoulder drop before the first roll but she went for it when the roll came and pulled it off. Just sayin' because it is absolutely magnificent when a professional so masterfully steps through a difficult/risky situation that they've only previously trained for and makes it look/sound like instincts played a role!

Commeon you can also say horsepeople are a different breed. When you work with horses,, you will get hurt, that is norma! and not the horses fault.And if it is only that you are in the way of their head's. If you do not only sit on a riding school donkey, you will fall off, ect and we say, too :' it could have been worse", because most of the time it is that way.
I’m amazed she was able to remain calm during all that!! The chap that jumped in to help her was so, so brave and they were able to work together really well to make sure there was a good result. I’m really glad they’re both ok.
His wife was the one that filmed it and posted it.
I agree her staying calm and rolling with him completely saved her hand or arm from getting ripped off. Props to her.

I'm so glad I watched this video. Unfortunately I did watch the viral video, but Lindsay handled it SO well, something in me knew she was a PROFESSIONAL handler. After watching this interview, I've gained SO much insight into the animal handling world esp how Chris was talking about the haters and also the perspective of the animal itself... Huge kudos to Lindsay for being the reason those kids weren't traumatized and instead turning that situation into a positive for them! By their reported reactions and plans to go back, they felt more excited and connected to the animals AFTER the incident rather than apprehensive. That shocked me at first, but I do believe it after hearing Lindsay describe how she handled it!
I enjoyed this whole conversation. It was fascinating to hear each of your perspectives talking through what happened and relating other experiences to it. Well you cant reason with an animal, so what else are you supposed to do wish it gets sent to prision. But I do view the relationship between a zookeeper and an animal as if it was a family member, just an accident like a misunderstanding.
Thanks for doing this interview. I went looking for some more info because Lindsay looked to me to be a woman who was in control and I hoped everything turned out ok. I’m really sorry to hear that the video was released without your consent. It was excellent to hear how you all care for these wild animals and how you are advocates for them and the way you articulated the relationship with them. Much respect.
I love your videos, you two and this was great. You put to rest to many false things people believe and I hope they listen. As a self taught musician, I know its totally different, but people really don't realize that these are specialized fields and people don't give enough respect or understanding. You both deserve all the love, support and positivity with all the work you all do!
Lindsay, you handled the situation like a pro. You remained calm under extreme pressure (figuratively and literally), and you were able to direct the people trying to help you. Speaking as a man, I probably would have passed out and been eaten. Also, props to the guy who jumped in to help.

I refused to watch the "viral video", figuring that she wasn't going to be the one profiting on it. So - when I saw THIS video, I clicked immediately. Glad Lindsay is okay, even more glad that she understood the risks and has no problem with them - and will go back to her career when she can. Love it!

i think it’s so cool and inspiring how she can still advocate gators/crocs despite the injury she just had taken. i’m not sure if i would have the ability to separate emotion and logic in this scenario and i’m thankful that people like yall exist 🥺

Wow!!! We just had somebody reach out after watching this video to share a similar experience she had with doctors after she was bitten by a tegu! He started googling tegu bites and found out they were related to komodos and they said they needed to amputate her arm! They were getting ready to prep her for surgery to remove her arm for A LIZARD BITE!!! 🤦🏼♀️

Ignorance is amazing. I hope she didn't have it done. I've been bit by snakes, iguanas and other reptiles and never had a problem. But my granddaughter was scratched by her cat and ended up in the hospital for two weeks. She was terribly ill. I'm so glad you did this. I was concerned about her. She's a real trouper. Loved the way she handled it. And to the person who filmed it and then released it, shame on you. I hope she is able to sue you for anything you made on this. And sending prayers for a speedy recovery.

A good opportunity to use the incident and help educate and inform people about the animals and what you are working on with them. Fantastic interview, I’m really glad you guys covered the topic of how awful sensationalizing other people’s pain because it’s honestly ridiculous that someone is getting rich off of Lindsey’s injury.

We've been to Scales & Tales Utah many times--my daughter took a jr. zookeeper class there--and we've seen the training that Darth Gator goes through and his response to commands. Lindsay, so glad you're ok and lots of respect for what you do. Hopefully the powers that be will see this incident for what it is and not cave to outside pressure to punish the facility or the alligator and stop the amazing outreach and education that goes on.

I love scales and tails. I’ve been there many times and even been to birthday parties that hired them to come in for shows! They are a huge part of the community here. Im happy that Lindsay and Darth Gator are okay! It makes me so angry that they shared the video without Lindsays consent. I had no idea! Lindsay is amazing and she handled it so well.

I've never been there, I live in the east coast, so I'm too far away. But she does seem like a lovely person, it is a shame that they posted it without her consent or without her point of view.
I would've got her consent first before sharing the video, however I'm sure them sharing the video was a positive thing too because I'm sure many people decided to help her out financially to help pay her hospital bills. That man who got on top of the gator and helped her deserves a steak dinner and then some for what he did that day, he is very brave for doing that!
The whole antibiotics thing 😂 yup I know what you mean. I've gotten bit by so many animals I just don't care anymore pigs, cats, dogs, goats, sheep, birds, squirrels, horses, cows, snakes, guinea pigs, rabbits and a spider (which I have a phobia too), my husband uses super glue to close up wounds on himself so I kinda chuckled at the own stitches. I'm glad Lindsey is okay and doing well mentally. Thank you to her and you two for sharing her side. ❤

Im so glad u guys did this vid the right way and not like some of these other reptile utubers who constantly want to dramatize this for more views. Ive been respectively commenting to other utubers when they keep posting all this shit the way they do is just hurting all of us who keep and work with reptiles weather its public education or private. With all the new laws being passed those vids just helps them and makes it easier for politicians to keep banning animals which can also hurt the species and the conservation part as well. So this is the best video covering this issue. Great job much respect u guys.

I am very thankful that she is recovering and for the most part okay. On a side note I think what y'all do with the shows, teaching, and rescue is awesome as there are so many people that misunderstand theses animals.

My first thought was she knew exactly what she was doing. As you can clearly see she climbed into the enclosure and rolled with the gator. As she already anticipated what it would do. And then stayed calm enough to direct others on how to help her.

Also if a vet gets bit by a dog they are treating/ training would they say that vet can’t do his/her job noooooo why should you be treated any different just because your animal is different
