    What was the final cost for the rebuild? Excluding the hull purchase.

    So the fuel tank is permantley glassed in ? bad idea

    • @fredyboxnz1365
      @fredyboxnz1365 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      not the worst idea alot of american boats do it this way but they dont put in the proper marine grade metal tanks in so then u have to cut the floor open and pull it out but if they used the correct marine grade metal for the tank its perfectly fine

    How did u prep the hull prior to glassig It and what kind of resin did u use? Polyester ure epoxi?

    • @TheCaptainMag
      @TheCaptainMag  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The hull is sanded back then cleaned with acetone before glassing. Erick uses polyester ISO laminating resin. Hope this helps.

    woven rovings are so old hat. Why didn't you use a Double bias, a lot stronger.

    • @CaptMarkSVAlcina
      @CaptMarkSVAlcina 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Graeme Smith yes good point

    • @TheCaptainMag
      @TheCaptainMag  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Erick says that woven rovings are a more suitable material for the job as it's more pliable around the edges and gaps, noting the rovings were rolled into the strakes and around the chine. Erick also says he uses double bias extensively in his Whitepointer 263, largely because it doesn’t show print through, as woven rovings tend to show.

      Steven Williams I have fished out of one of these , it was yellow and was powered by 90hp Yamaha two stroke , we called it “the yellow peril” , very fast boat to fish wide for yellowfin tuna. That boat caught more big yellowfin than any other boat in the area.
