The best part is all of those custom ACs are actual AC ranked Ravens from various Gen 3 games. Hell, someone custom built the intro AC for MoA and we still don't have a kit of that despite Kotobukiya giving us the Gen 1 Nineball (supposeably Kotobukiya was also going to give us the intro AC for MoA as well and possibly AC1 intro AC but Kotobukiya dropped AC production around that time).
Exactly. The mecha genre pretty much exists to sell toys and model kits. And that's not necessarily a bad thing as every mecha fan knows. We've gotten some amazing stories in the genre.
@@Godzilla00X Same as great western shows being cancelled because of low ratings. There is this fantasic 90s sci-fi show called Space: Above and Beyond (a grim, realistic military sci-fi show, kinda like a proto Battlestar Galactica) that got cancelled after one season. Fox, a network notorious for cancelling great shows, claimed it cost too much and didn't get enough viewers to justify more seasons.
LOL, the vid needed to randomly buffer at 3:07 _right after_ you said "weren't just inspired by gundam." the unintended added pause for effect was excellent
WonFes garage kits are some special pieces, sometimes I wish these were mass releases...genuinely gorgeous work from some amazing creators! Congrats on the Gulpla kit...I think it's called...
I went to wonderfest last february to meet an artist that make fanmade nendoroid model kits, bought 2 kits from him, gave him a plush i made by hands and in exchange of the plush he will make a Rias Gremory nendoroid for me. I also bought a few rare figures in the flea market(i had soo much bargains). And finally went to see the new announcement for me it was nendoroids, i was laughting that there was a jaws nendoroid. I went to see the moving gundam the day before wonderfest
That would be so hilarious if you accidentally signed up for the self-defense Force thinking it was fake being a Foreigner like American or something 😂
I'm just glad my country hasn't discovered the awesome power of cosplay for its military recruiters. My life would've gone in a completely different direction.
The military does tend to recruit at large events. When I used to go to NY Auto Show, the Marines had a booth in one of the corners, with recruitment materials and swag. I guess technically you couldn't sign up there, but it is not a bad place for advertising.
Old bootlegs can be weird and charming. I have a korean knockoff VF-1J from the 90s. I'm pretty sure it's a copy of Bandai's 1/55 Macross figures. The "synopsis" on the back of the box (which is in English for some reason) is hilarious. The story it tells has absolutely nothing to do with Macross and sounds more like a weird 70s super robot plot. The figure itself is pretty bad, but I keep it for the novelty factor.
I hope this would make you take a look at 3rd party kits of Gundams that have not been given that much attention by Bandai in recent times, like: - Solomon Physalis (MGEX GP02 - Eternal Star Glory (MG Stargazer) Both of those are awesome kits that I'm sure yoh would enjoy as well.
I'd have kind of thought, just from the look of the kit, that it was more of the obvious "take that" type thing that pops up in things where they basically filed off the specific copyrightable stuff from another, similar thing and then use it in your show/comics/whatever just to have it get it's ass kicked. Marvel and DC have been doing that for at least half a century now with each other and other things...
Another thing to add to the list of things to do if I ever make it to Japan. My wallet will hate me. But the JSDF thing isn't a big surprise. We used to take recruiters with us when we took a bird to airshows. They would literally have a stack of enlistment forms with them sitting on the ramp while we were giving (Usually hungover) tours of the aircraft.
Yeah it reminds me of americas army and how armies use video games for recruitment. It's probably a hobby with a lot of groups vulernable to recruitment

IP law is so dumb, I am a small artist and it spins my head to think something you make with your own two hands, you can't transfer the ownership of that object for its value if it has magical IP law capitalists have casted upon it like a spell. Kind of an L for humanity to decide that something that can be copied for free, like an artistic style or style of robot whatever, is off limits for the small artists to sell and humanities potential creative and craftsmanship output reduced as a result
Cash. I think I saw a few high-end booths advertising that they took cards, but cash is the way to go. I don't know if there's any ATMs nearby, but it's best to get your money in advance. (If there is one at the venue, I'd assume the line's gonna be very long)
Does anyone know where one could find a gunpla store in Tokyo that sells 2nd hand gunpla? I sometimes see posts of second hand gunpla sold in clear plastic bags but couldn't find where 😅
@@kakarot197 yes! I meant gunpla that are already built. So any store that sells 2nd hand things like Hard-Off will sell one, right? If I can't find it there, do you have any suggestions where else should I try?
Guldan should be the enemy faction of the next gundam anime lol

Every mecha show is merchandise driven and the cash must flow so that they can make more episodes with promotion of new toys along the way.
Exactly. The mecha genre pretty much exists to sell toys and model kits. And that's not necessarily a bad thing as every mecha fan knows. We've gotten some amazing stories in the genre.
Nothing more painful than a good show canceled due to low toy sales

3:58 OH. MY. GOGG. I WANT THESE, great research!!!
6:55 The US also has some military recruiting booths at bigger cons. My local major con has the Navy & their Esports team as a regular booth.
