I had the pleasure of meeting him and his family a few times. One of my children is named after Nicky Hayden. I felt compelled to attend I and am honored that the family allowed the public to show their support. Truly a great man and a great family. It was a heartbreaking experience and the community showed their love.
I used to photograph the races from 98-01 and spent a lot of time around the Hayden family. Nicky was definitely my favorite. Since my son is older, the best I could do was name one of my cats Nicky Hayden. He's a big orange guy (my cheetah) who was found at my work in a state of shock. When I took him to the vet (who also is a racing enthusiast and rides) he asked his name and I immediately christened him Nicky Hayden to which my vet replied "that's the best name I've ever heard".

Now this is what I call a true motorcycle riding community. Over here there were only race bikes no choppers, baggers, tourers and stuff on a memorial run like this. There are a lot of communities inside the community in Germany, but they all have one goal and that`s riding motorcycles. I don`t get it!! R.I.P. #69 may you ride on in heaven!

I was never a huge Nicky Hayden fan I was like Bostrom and his other opponents better.. that being said no one can say that he was not a skilled person he was completely exciting to watch especially in the Grand Prix I I've met almost all of his family at the race tracks when I go to see MotoGP in America I did not want to admit this but tears are coming out of my eyes right now we are all going to miss you Nicky
