    South facing are exposed to the sun more, which allows for more opportunity of expanding/contracting due to more frequent temperature changes.

    I have this problem around the whole window. Should I go with just caulking or use mud for this situations?

    I have a question. My mom's house has window frame like yours. Since my kids come over to my mom's house and they put the toy cars on the window frame then they move the cars back wnd forth so that makes the frame gets thiner to the point that I can see the corner bead appearing along the edge of the window. But I'm not sure what kind of drywall is being used on the frame. Should I cut the new drywall to place it or use all purpose drywall compound to cover the frame?

      Follow the label if you want the fix to last.

      @GDanielCho 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      you just have to have a very wet brush as shown when you paint on top of the calk and it works out decent

      @@GDanielCho I like things to last so decent doesn’t cut it.

      @@jimstaggs9168 if it lasts 5 years thats honestly long enough. Job takes 20 mins

    • @jimstaggs9168
      @jimstaggs9168 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GDanielCho I seriously doubt that’s lasting 5 years. Maybe 2.
      If you’re a maintenance guy or something, this is typical and I get it.
      If you want to level up and work for clients that pay you more than $15 per hour and have repeat customers you’ll need to level up

    in the replacement window world, u just use 100%silicone, the color of the window usually. and do a nice bead around the window

      Incorrect, won’t be able to repaint it. Need to use latex based so you could paint over it.

    I could be wrong, but I think you gotta lay down a thicker beed and not use your finger. There are caulking tools to get you a nice triangle style caulking corner. No way it will crack when it is that thick . (What she said) lol 🤣

      I agree. I am not a professional but I always dry tool my beed and don't use any tape. I have had excellent results.

    wonder if the heat from the sun causes it to crack… south gets sun all day during summer

    • @niekvermeer9221
      @niekvermeer9221 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's exactly what it is, when the window frame and walls gets warm from the sun it expands and when it cools of again it shrinks. It's that movement that causes it to crack
