    Good thing you were there Thursday and not Wednesday...switching issues at Hunter had RVL service cut back to Cranford with subtstitute buses to from Newark to Union, Roselle Park, and Cranford.

    nice action! I fanned the Lehigh Line on Sunday afternoon, another beautiful day. when there isn’t a heritage unit, 23G is always the highlight of the afternoon (scheduled out of Croxton 3:45). always so many engines and the leader (on Sunday) had an awesome P5!

    I love the gauntlet tracks at these stations.
    I see the Tropicana juice train pretty often as it uses the old Reading (current CSX) New York Short line which my house backs up to. I still remember in the late 80's and early 90's when they were Orange boxcars and then the white Tropicana boxcars were introduced

    I used to see those Tropicana cars run through Washington, DC when I used to live and work in the Area. Now when I see freights in the SLC area, they're either UP or short line trains. And there certainly aren't any Tropicana cars.

    The windows are not dirty. There is a major problem with the polycarbonate windows installed on these cars. What appears to be dirt are tiny cracks in the window coating. One option NJT is looking at is replacing all the windows but that can cost upwards of 8 million bucks. Another option - NJT is working with Rutgers engineering department to see if there is some way of restoring the existing windows.

      It’s not fun riding on these trains and not having the vaguest idea where you are. The Long Island Rail Road has the same problem with their M7’s on the sunny side of the train.

      I tried to explain this to Tim. Part of the problem is the cleaning solution that's being used. It's scratching the polycarbonate windows.

      Well, hopefully they can resolve the problem, so passengers know where they are instead of riding in the twilight zone

    Nice! 288 also actually originates out of Rossville, TN not Rossport.

    How do people know where these freight trains originate and to their destination?

    • @3985uprr
      @3985uprr  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There are online guides. I also have a source who can tell me what those trains are.
