In Texas she would get the DP because she tortured someone to death. There was overwhelming evidence that she helped get him in the suitcase. And, knowing the dangers of positional asphyxiation, left him in the suitcase to suffer. It doesn't matter if she intended for him to die. That is 2nd degree murder. 15 years with her serving only 8 is a travesty of justice. She has to know someone in the Florida justice system that is giving her this special treatment. Penalty should be LWOP.

Im not in FL. Would she be up for parole in 8 years leaving 4 more to serve ? Or she has to serve minimum 85% of the 15 and that’s the 12 years? Either way turning it down was absolutely INSANE

@@jessicahudson3085 cases that are bad are 85 percent or a 100 percent (1st degree murder) and they have to do every bit of that, so no good time. Cases that are not egregious or as bad as sex/violent crimes are 9/10 times at 50 percent of their sentence. And they can also get good time on top of that too even. So let’s say someone went to prison for 10 years for their 5th or 6th dui and got 10 at 50 percent. They have to do 5 years and they can also do school, get their GED, etc to get even more time off and probably end up doing like around 4 years. I had to look this part up to give u the correct information but Florida doesn’t have parole. So she would have no parole

Sometimes a deal can be offered as a tactic which means in sentencing they can get a harsher sentence.
It’s also likely they gave her a great offer knowing she would refuse and when the inevitable guilty verdict comes in the judge can throw the book at her.

@@greenflagracing7067 I understand what you are saying. We saw Casey Anthony get away with murder, and other stunning verdicts. And in some ways, in many trials I have lost faith in a few juries. Normally at this point I am not willing to stick my neck out and guess what a jury will do, but in this case I will say hands down she will be convicted.
I'm confident of this conviction for several reasons, mainly having to do with the fact that even though she now has a lawyer, she is still clearly calling the shots. And making very bad decisions. Her lawyer is outmatched AND has a client that insists that she knows more about law than anyone else. I don't see a jury having any empathy for her at all, she comes across as a know it all.
But I do agree with you on the basic statement that yes, it is often surprising what a jury will believe, that is very true.

I am a former defense attorney and prosecutor from California. Rejecting this offer is madness😮. I couldn't live with myself if I didn't use everything in my power to make her take this offer.
