You have such a beautiful area to be living in. Your hard work is going to pay off and you’re going to have a lovely home again. I love seeing Callie help dig.
Sean, you are doing something that a lot of wish we had done. I worked for over half a century, half of that was in the military. In a week I will be retired and will be moving back to my home state of West Virginia. At 70 it will be a joy I have one grandnephew and soon to be five grandnieces I want to watch grow up. Come spring of next year I look forward to hunting spring turkeys, morsel mushrooms, ramps, rock lettuce, polk and other wild greens. Come summer I look forward to the garden growing season. Come fall I look forward to deer and turkey season. So much I have missed, mostly I miss my parents. So I plan to put use to what time the good Lord has left for me. Life is like the wind it comes and it goes, so enjoy the most of it. Looking forward to your next video, take care. God be with you and your family.

@Sam Steri has anyone suggested you switch to decaf. It's his land and I believe he is very self conscious about the environment if you follow him you would know he goes for trees that are dying. As for the bear or dear fish or whatever he doesn't kill for sport it's to feed his family. Maybe I have a disability and I'm to old to do what he dose I enjoy watching his videos they are informative and enjoying if he makes a buck so be it I'm a capitalist more power to him as for you , being miserable like you was suck and lonely try love and praise.
I was a technician. We were measuring a problem piece, and needed accurate measures, but the tape we had was in 1/8 inch increments. I eyeballed it. They took the piece away and the engineers redid it with precision measuring tools. One came back and let me know my eyeball was 1/1000th off. Lol...I think he was shocked, but I was never sure if he expected better or worse! And yet I can’t manage to cut a piece of wood accurately, and can’t hammer a nail more than halfway in without mutilating it...Shawn just amazes me with his skills!
I can dig all this hard work.....seems like this cabin is much larger....and more ambitious than the old one. Nice relaxing music with the drone work...gives the wilderness scope....:) Very soothing music.
Shawn James - This brought tears to my eyes ....just the beauty of the camera work/overhead of the river trip. It reminds me of some of the scenes in "A River Runs Through It". I know you have borrowed the music, but the video cinematography is YOU. Well done. Now..... those scenes a few weeks back of Cali running slow mo through the snow/ice.... those were great, too. High caliber; makes my day!
Also just want to say, as a person living in Texas, it's always fun to watch people be able to dig a hole more than 3" deep without a hydraulic rock crusher 😂 Limestone and bedrock are only about a foot from the surface here
He was luck to fine the one spot in Northern Ontario that doesn't have bedrock two inches below. Northern Ontario is part of the Canadian Shield some of the oldest and hardest rock in the world
I beg to differ, the house levelers (a necessary service in north Texas) went down 19 feet to find the chalk rock beneath my house and charged me accordingly. However, part of that charge was probably for digging through fire ants all the way around. I’m fascinated to learn that part of Canada is sandy soil. Hope it’s easier to dig than the black gumbo my house sits on (hard, hard, hard).
I figured out why I love this channel so much! I used to watch my Grandpa build trains for a hobby. He built 1/4 size steam engines and track, hoping to watch his grandkids enjoy riding them one day. He never realized that dream and he finished both trains about 95% before he passed away. I "worked" side by side with him, handing him this and that and watching him bore holes in metal or bend metal and attach it to wood for the track. We worked silently mostly, not needing to say much. Then we went back to the house to watch TV and eat ice cream with Grandma. Ah...this takes me back.

The video was 2hrs long and you was building your cabin log after log one by one. I watched video to the end and always waiting for another one. BRILLIANT 👏👍👌.So much better then movies in tv.
You are most hard working person iv'e ever seen in my entire life. Nothing is to hard,to tough nor impossible for you. My hat is off in front of you Sir.
Even the dog is trying to help superb , you are a machine pal your work ethic is second to none love the channel 👍
We have rivers like this around Sudbury. Lazy old rivers that go every which way. Your videos are inspiring. Thank you for being you and sharing your passions.
Moving to our property this weekend. Might be without internet for awhile so it was good to see this before we left!
Best wishes on your move John. I did the same thing 2 years ago - best move I ever made.
I usually don't post much but that scenery while canoeing was absolutely beautiful I would love to just sit on the banks and close my eyes and take in the sounds of running water birds and everything else. I wish i.could be there.
mmeeeee too...**sigh** this is the only way I can travel.....
You hear this constantly but watching you build from the dirt up is just pure fun.
Then the blissful, calming scenes. What a treasure.
It is really nice to see you take a break and go paddling with your famiy. Beautiful area and footage.
Your videos help lift me out of my depression, if sometimes only for the length of them. Thank you.
its the opposite for me...i can barely watch the self torture he does....lol
@@davidofshield4452 - I'm assuming you mean "torture"?
@@walliedingwell580 yeah...lol
In the middle of starting to build his log cabin home and winter comes quick there......And takes time for going canoeing 🛶 with his family. Shawn is a mans man and every man on the planet who wants to keep his family intact should take notes 📝! Kudos Shawn 👍😁👍
One can never get bored with your videos Sir. Stunning wilderness, wonderful honest life!
Soul therapy in every vid. 🙏💛
Legend is that Shawn dug out that river in his early twentys
That legend is old
😂🤣😂 I believe it!
Brilliant hahaha
Taking on a new homestead by turning the other cheek is CHUCK NORRIS status in my book . You have our respect
Wouldn't surprise me, really! He is the working-est man I have ever seen.
I commend you for the mix of work and pleasurable family time.
This is a much better spot for your new cabin. So much more peaceful and scenic. Love the River.
Just breathtaking viewing the scenes
Love canoeing or kayaking it’s wonderful on calm waters to soak up everything surrounding you. What a treasure to live there.
This is very inspirational teaching d young ones to walk hard but digging a hole dat big dat wide by urself without a proper tool to help pls mr shawn ur wife n daughters need u in their life for a long time to come.
"life is not a race it's the journey that counts" You have got wonderful life.
its not a race, it is race
I'm not sure what that means
one should at least try.. :)
If you can't make it to the Mountains, simply don't watch the Billion dollar News channels for a week and watch Shawns old movies! My heart and mind are so much more at rest following surgery!
Wow, what a wonderful day on the river with your family. Good for you, Shawn!
It’s amazing to me how you visualize what you’re going to do before you do it. It is such a huge project. The video is so beautiful. Thank you for sharing your hard work with us and your talent for videography. You have many gifts.💖
Thank you ' thank you' this has been the most inspirational '' video' as well as has a feeling of heaven on earth'' Shawn you are a map maker guiding the way for others'' you have a beautiful' family keep doing what your doing it has payed off'' i am excited to see the homestead come together as well as other projects and fun times you share with all of us. the music the scenery and Cali' girl helping her dad always makes me smile'' she also is a good spotter watches you while your working' love Cali she is a beautiful person as her mom n dad and the girls.
Smart girl Cali putting the toys where they get in Shawn's way
Cali has to make certain Shawn observes enough play time to keep happy ;) ... thats her job lol
Callie's thinking the toy is Shawn's most treasured possession in the world so she's making sure Shawn knows exactly where it is at all times. When Shawn's busy, she'll be happy to hold it for him just in case he needs it at any moment. Whenever the naughty orange thing flies off on its own, she'll be happy to find it and bring it back for Shawn because it's very important to him.

Really 🤦♀️🤦♀️
Segment of you canoeing with family is just breathtaking...what a truly beautiful World we live in, when we choose to actually live in it ...thank you Sean x
Excited to see this new cabin come to life!
Such a calming and relaxing kind of peace to be on your own land, building your dreams and enjoying God's beautiful surroundings....I admire what you're doing Shawn, and your wonderful family. And I love, love Cali!!! Thank you for allowing me to live my dream thru you!!
Today's laugh out loud moment brought to you by Cali at 7:40. Love that dog!!!
I can't stop saying wow on that wonderful and beautiful scenery with your wife and daughter Mr James. And of course Cali too ... God speed, stay safe
Much better location for a water loving dog. Great to see how much you are getting done.
...and your own sand Bar too‼️. Majestic-Panoramic-Tranquility. Wow!
After all that hard work, its lovely to see you enjoy some quality time with the family.
I just wanted to thank you. I had neck surgery a week ago and during my recovery I sat and watched video after video of yours. I love the outdoors and you’re living a bit of my dream for myself. Your videos helped me heal and kept me calm. My husband would teased me a time or two for watching so many. But, they truly helped.. You’re doing a great job and I just love Cali. Thanks again
Glorious scenery, and outstanding camera work. 👏
My only sadness at watching these videos is when they come to an end. Thank you for enriching my life - the canoe shots from above were stunning but I equally enjoyed watching you dig a hole for your new log cabin. And Cali and her orange toy..... well .... it just adds up to sheer joy.
Thank you for sharing your journey .Love the beauty of your world around you and the mood you set.
Cali digging the top of the pile to help you, makes my heart melt. the bond you have is truly wonderful 😍
Shawn - you're an inspiration. Going to work on my property this weekend and it's always encouraging/convicting to see how much work you put in BY HAND. Thanks for sharing the journey with us.
The canoeing segment almost made me cry: what beauty and serenity shared with your family. The music fit the mood perfectly. I run out of superlatives after watching these videos from the very start. Thank you for sharing your wonderful journey. I felt like I was actually in the canoeing segment with you. What a feeling. Give Cali a BIG SMOOCH from Mike & Ronnie. GOD BLESS
WOW Shawn. That sure is a LOT of excavating for one guy with hand tools. As always you are an inspiration for maintaining and improving an honest work ethic. Looking forward to all of the new homestead construction videos. The closing is truly profound. Enjoy and appreciate the good parts of the river of life so that you are better able to endure the inevitable but temporary rough waters that we must all paddle our way through. BTW....I really like your canoe. Going to check out Swift's website.
Hello Shawn... I'm sure glad Cali was there, to help you dig out all that dirt, ;) lol.
Seriously, you're an amazing human, that is a lot of work for one man. Looks like you, your wife, and daughter (plus Cali) had a wonderful day.
Been a number one fan of you Shawn since 2019.
you have got to be the inspiration of many, to me, you are one of the reason pursuing things in life to also soon make such a project like this here in Siargao.
HAT'S DOWN!
From the comments you seem and are blessed to be a man of skill, technique, perseverance, compassion, and devotion to task. A man for all seasons. Your dog has a true Shepherd to follow and protect. Blessings🙌😊
Wow, it was nice to be out there on the river with you guys - if only for a few minutes. Thanks
yuh.., I feel the same way, put it on my large screen tv.....
and off I go.....***sigh*** just beautiful...!!!
I really love reading all the comments just as much as watching your videos.
I want to Thank You for the Chaga, I've been searching for this for awhile. All the best for you and your family with your new homestead
The music was on point Shawn,Just watching you and your family on the river was so relaxing i just shut my eyes and i was there.Thank you for taking us along and letting us see and feel what you do.
All of this "homework" 🪓🔨📐🎥 done with 2 hands, 2 eyes, 2 ears, 2 feet, 2 hearts, and 1 dog 🐕
Impressive 👍👍 so this is possible. A man-and-his-dog, wind 💨 rain 💦or shine 🌞 There's still peace in this world 💎
It warms me to see you with your family on the water Shawn. The photography, watching Cali help you dig and the beginnings of your new cabin are all magical, but taking time away from that to be with your family is more so.
Cali says... I'll help dad. I don't have a shovel but I have these paws and I'll help you dig! 😉😂 So cute.
;)
As someone with a chronic anxiety/panic disorder, I have to say your videos are a slice of heaven, watching the build, as well as giving me the results of a good therapy session ❤️
I watch two other Canadian filmmakers and their dogs and it appears Cali is a natural born movie star, always with the lighting and the blocking, she deserves an Emmy for Best Dog in a short film! All the other dogs seem to only know how to show their butts to the lens! ....or maybe it's just the editing but I doubt it!
The shadows and reflections in the brackish water is a painter's delight. Beautiful shots. The music so fitting and relaxing Shawn and co...
The hard work you put in is unbelievable! You inspire us all to keep plugging away. Even when our daily tasks are no where near as impressive as yours! Digging a basement with hand tools! Jeez Louise! None of that looks easy, but certainly the first foot or so full of roots looks like a real bear to get through! Thanks for sharing with us.
There's that sweet girl !!! The V.P. of morale, hard at work helping dad dig the soil! Good dog, that Cali. Nice footage with the drone over the river.
Genius cinematography. You're one of the most talented people I know. Your ability to edit is just as great as your building.
God bless this man and his amazing channel he provides to so many viewers ! Some crazy people would find negative things about Sean ! Personally I think like thousands of his viewers , he’s a genius ! He lives just three hours south of me ! He is truly an inspiration and dedication of life ! His videos are breathtaking and make you reflect on life ! I’m 56 and bruised up big time for pushing my bod to the max and paying for it ! Hope when this dream of yours is over you can slow down somewhat ! Take care Sean ! Love your channel !
shaun has to be the hardest working man on you tube. love the videos. all this hard work shows just how much you love your family.
So fascinating to see you build your cabin ground up. Can’t wait to see the journey. What a beautiful trip down river. So peaceful and amazing. I can certainly understand why you want to be there!
Shawn what a great video.
The ending was beautiful to see you relax and enjoy what's around you.
Your work ethic is second to none.
But that last segment was so powerful it touched my core.
Thanks for sharing your life
And may god bless you and keep you and your family safe.
Shawn, you keep on amazing us. A basement? TAhis is the real starst of the new building,
Thanks to you, every Friday is an interesting moment. I cordially greet you and wish you pleasant moments every day.
Glad to see Cali helping you dig the basement.
I can dig all this hard work.....seems like this cabin is much larger....and more ambitious than the old one. Nice relaxing music with the drone work...gives the wilderness scope....:) Very soothing music.
*NO fear, we hope for the best and Prepare for the Worst. Love and Light from New Mexico. Start your Prepping NOW ! Great Channel !*
I salute your endeavour Sean . The rhythm of digging is so important
I love to try and observe where you get your strength - physical, mental, spiritual - from. It is such a lesson to me.
Shawn mentioned eons ago he meditates and does yoga. Therein lies your answer to his mindfulness.
and don't forget the chaga tea, lots and lots of chaga!! :))))))
Northern Ontario is part of the Canadian Shield some of the oldest and hardest rock in the world
@@lordhoho1 - Cold, bug infested Texas with taller trees and harder to extract oil. Got it. 😂😂😂👍
3"? Georgia read clay checking in here.......
Or water, South Louisiana!🤣
