@@jonmulder The one with het metropoolorkest on North Sea Jazz, where we missed the entire vocoder part because Cory's synth was incorrectly patched, and he yanked the mic mid-performance? I love that one too, even though it drives me crazy never to know find out how cool it would have been has it sounded the way they intended it, and I hate the way they mixed it down, can barely hear all the cool stuf Jacob was doing. Was already amazingly great, but could have been much more insane. :)
Damning good bass and stunning, classy brass. A great listen...like Herbie at his best, he'd be very proud. You knocked it out of the park and some - Big hustle!
I thought Lena Fujii's cover was my favourite (it has an excellent house arrangement), but hearing you blokes cover it with actual instrumentations, makes my heart swell with joy. You've made Herbie Hancock proud. EDIT: What a beautiful tribute!
Well that was just crazy good! Amazing musicianship and an overall great sound makes this more than just a tribute to the great man, but a worthy contribution to y'alls musical identity on its own. The soulfulness of Saad's voice through the vocoder is to die for. And starting at 5:55, Rhodes and Vocoder know each other's licks so well and the way they make it fit is just pure funk. I know it's merely a matter of taste, I'd have gone with a much less thick snare sound (love the drums otherwise), and the guitar could be served with a sound that gives it a bit greater presence on the soundstage when playing along with the rest of the band (especially because when you do hear it, it absolutely kills!) Absolutely amazing, would recommend to everyone who loves a good groove.
I let out a celebratory "yes!" when I heard the solo after the second chorus; I've always felt that would be the perfect place for a burning solo, and you didn't disappoint! Is there any chance this could make its way to Apple Music? Either way, this is the best cover I've heard of this song; it easily compares to the original. Thank you for sharing your amazing work!
Truly an astounding collaborative effort between everyone involved. Loved every second of it the first time I saw this, and I'm coming back week after week to take it all in again.
Dear Saad El Garrab, WOW, what can I say!!! That was an amazing performance... The best cover version I have heard and in fact I think that you took your vocoder parts to another level which, I have to say, in my opinion, was even better than Herbie himself.... Wow WOW WOW!!!!! I need to ask you and I hope that you can help me. I love the mix of your sound of the vocoder. Please can you share with my with me what patch and keyboard you are using, and how you are processing the sound in terms of what efx you are using. I would really appreciate this very much. I hope you can help as I am training my 11 year old son at the moment on vocoder and I would really like to help him recreate your sound as he absolutely loves it so much (big hearts to you)...
Hello :). I used the Korg R3 vocoder (the gray small keyboard on top). I play on the Nord Lead A1 Keyboard because I love the pitch bend but it is just a MIDI controller connected to the Korg R3 . Obviously I tweaked quite a lot the parameters of the vocoder. That's my only advice, any vocoder can work as long as you explore and fine tune each of it's options at your taste ;). Take care :)
That keyboard… damn is that right on… endorphins flowing to this cover… amazing.
The Bass is Bassin'!!!
Horn sections always gets first props. then the bass player, then everyone else including background vocals. Very nice work!!! 🤗🤗🤗
Ini terbaik ❤️
Can't say I'm a big fan of that snare sound, but damn that was good 😎
