    Strixhaven: A Curriculum introduces two new feats: Strixhaven Initiate and Strixhaven Mascot. While they're both specific to the Strixhaven setting, I do think they could be used in any game. They also set a new standard for "branching feats" as well as showing us what a future updated Magic Initiate will most likely look like.
    Thanks for watching!

    The really cool bit with the fractal familiar is that a Chainlock can get the investment of the chain master invocation, which gives families a flying speed, meaning that your level four character could have a huge flying mount

    There’s some oddness with the art elemental mascot’s death burst and what happens to a familiar when it gets to 0 hit points. Familiars don’t actually die when get to 0 hit points, and instead disappear back whatever dimension they came from. The death burst specifies that it occurred when the mascot dies. So, your familiar would never really die, and the death burst would thus never occur. Is that the intention? Perhaps the wording on the death burst should reflect the mascot going to zero hit points rather than it specifying it dying.

    • @bleddynwolf8463
      @bleddynwolf8463 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      familiars can die from things like Power word kill, since in Pok, hit points aren't part of the equation, they just die, so it could work then

    • @Negeta

      @@bleddynwolf8463 I mean… sure, but I don’t think the intent is for the death burst ability to come into play when an NPC uses a 9th level spell to target just your familiar. I suspect that when designing familiars for players to use, they wanted the abilities to be used with some frequency. But then they just word it poorly so that by RAW, it doesn’t work. I think most people will use the RAI, but there will be those tables that prefer RAW.

    With everything I’ve seen from SCoC, Quandrix has consistently become my favorite college. Their theme really appeals to me with the whole mathematics/physics vibe and connecting that to nature. Their signature spell, Vortex Warp, is the coolest one in my opinion for what it offers as a tactics or problem-solving utility spell. Their Strixhaven Initiate spell options are really nice, and the Quandrix Student spell list is fantastic with Enlarge/Reduce and Haste, etc. The Fractal Mascot seems like an amazing utility option despite not having flight; it’s bulky, can become Huge (Gargantuan if you have Enlarge/Reduce), can have advantage on attacks that deal force damage, and can go through walls and then be teleported with. Even the UA subclass was really up to my taste. Building a tactician / problem solving wizard, bard or sorcerer seems extremely feasible with everything this college has to offer!
