The idea that he just showed up at the Guardian's studio and some aide was like "Should we go buy a dagger?" and the director just went to the kitchen and was like "No, no, no just use this."
Not obsessing over the ill choice of knife (but who let that happen?), but focusing on Daniel Mays' speaking of these words and upon his visage (oh, his eyes).
Is this a dagger which I see before me? The handle toward my hand? Come, let me clutch thee. I have thee not, and yet I see thee still. Art thou not, fatal vision sensible to feeling as to sight? Or art thou but a dagger of the mind, a false creation, proceeding from the heat oppressed brain? It is the bloody business which informs thus to mine eyes. Thou sure and firm set earth hear not my steps which way they walk for fear thy very stones prate of my whereabouts and take the present horror from the time which now suits with it. Whiles I threat, he lives. Words to the heat of dead to cold breath gives. (A bell rings). I go, and it is done. The bell invites me. Hear it not Duncan for it is a knell that summons thee to heaven, or to hell. (Sorry for it not being the entire speech).

His eyes.. his facial expressions put meaning to spoken words. Great artistry.
I love that it's a kitchen knife. I don't know why.

Bloody fantastic adaptation. Daniel Mays is amazing as Macbeth. The torment and crazed laugh and glazed eyes. Amazing
Is this a WMF kitchen knife which I see before me?
WTF?
A dagger is a combat weapon used for piercing, that's a cooks knife designed for slicing and chopping.
No, Mac my boy, it isn't a dagger, it's a kitchen knife! So everything's gonna be OK.
Shakespeare sounds like music sometimes.
only when acted like this
Give this man an award. Absolutely brilliant.
Love that the restrained power we see in this is just absolute, raw, heart wrenching emotion...👌 Good performance☺
'Always call it the Scottish Play!'
The curse of Macbeth can only be applied while in a theatre
I have only one word for you... Macbeth
Hot Potato
Orchestra Stalls
Puck will make Amends
So you want me to call it the Scottish play...Rather than Macbeth.
. . . or pinch your nose !
Watched this in school, the class couldn't stop wheezing because of the kitchen knife.

A summary of what happens:
Macbeth sees a dagger above the door which leads into the room Duncan is in, hw sees this as a sign that he should kill him
His performance is astonishingly real it's scary.

I always rated Schofield as an actor, but this speech by Mays is pitch perfect.

Helped me a lot for my drama scholarship! Fingers crossed I get it!
All the best!
WTF!!! That was bloody excellent.
Basil Rodericks 1000% agreed! the premise behind this scene is a man losing his mind and he nails those feelings!
im actually so happy because this really helped me in my competition

Brilliant!

Cuz he's from a working class background and the posh actors have the monopoly sadly.

Hello everyone here for school
Very impressive piece of emotional acting. There were a few slight errors in the handling of the text, particularly 'to' instead of 'too cold breath'.
Such cutting wit .
F**K that was great.
can someone tell me the title of the background music
Actors, not stars. Is there someplace we can watch these ???? Perform entire plays? Ty.
I decided to do this for my school project
Ik his hands are close to the camera but his hands are almost cartoonishly large
excellent
He'd be great as Edmund in King Lear.
Great acting, the man appears totally befuddled, which seems apt.
anyone else doing this for year 9 drama
bruh i have to perform this tomorrow. I still can't figure out how to make this float midair. Guess I'll just place it on the floor or something
