These guys will be at my church April 8th...New Life church Denton Texas...They wouldn't perform in a church if their mission wasn't Christ centered. I don't care for hip hop/rap music...but lots of people do...GO GRITS!
I used to play Disney Extreme Skate when I was younger and I loved this song because of the beat. Fast forward I'm 21 years old going to Liberty University feeling nostalgic,I find out this is a Christian song and the 2 artist on this song joined up with another artist to make a group called DC talk while attending Liberty University the name came because "TobyMac" was born in Falls Church, Virginia (the dc metropolitan area)...which is like 5 minutes from where I'm from WHHHAAAAAATTTTTT O_o MIND BLOWN!
They were never part of DC Talk. TobyMac was and he did a song with them, but DCTalk started in the 80s and was made up of Kevin Max, Michael Tait, and TobyMac. Tait is now the lead singer of Newsboys, Kevin Max is the lead singer of Audio Adrenaline, and TobyMac... well, he's been doing his own thing for a while.
The guy on the right throughout the video is my friends' dad who I've known since I was born. I knew his song got into Disney Skate Adventure, and I had the game as a kid, but I had no idea this song was that well known. Pretty crazy finding this out 11 years in the future.
Listened to this back in the day on Disney Extreme Skate Adventure (the game that shaped my music choices for the rest of my life) and never knew this was Christian to today...WOOP! Love this song!
I like a lot of those! Yay for Christian rap! My favorite part about Christian rap is that it gets the same good news out, but in a way that gets people's attention and makes them want to listen to it!
i have been a POD fan since 2002! they aren't REALLY as christian as these other groups, but yeah i first had fundamentals and satellite but wasn't a hardcore fan, until in 2002 when i bought Brown and Snuff the Punk! LOVED IT! Jah Warrior for LIFE!
I enjoy gospel rap its all base on Christ and how the Lord delivered them from there ruggad life style praise God for changed lives.i was a life that was change,i once was lost but now im found,i once was lost but now i see, when one turns to the Lord the veil will be lifted.
this vid shows that all of god's kids count we all got it goin on for the Lord. great work yepyep123 there are all kinda peeps out there that need to be reached. the lord told us to go out into ALL THE WORLD. =^)
He's right, grits is a christian rap group, but I thought the same as you when I first heard them, but after listening to their lyrics and reading them on their cd covers, they are a rap gospel. They sound really good though.
He feel it she feel it we feel it So round and round we go He feel it she feel it we feel it Aaaah here we go He gon' get up she gon' get up we gon' get up Lockin' down the joint til the playa haters shut up Take you to outer limits flawless with no gimmicks Imitate but can't get it Aaaah here we go My brain pattern skip a jiggawatt No more room in the pan I cook up rhymes in a bigger pot On a roll, what you figure got Tricks up my sleeve you won't believe My story weave to a thicker plot Words leep off pages hop on stages We crazy need to be locked in cages Raah you feel it Yeah I'm light skinned vanilla Comin atcha like a pack of gorillas Whole planet gone ape Understand from afar nashville to the lone star state Relate indicator instilled in me by men greater This is where you belong strong you gon' be great Flaunt clout with a scream and a shout cast out doubt Fast like a gun blast drawn out The sounds in leaps and bounds flush out clowns Creeps and hounds Foxes and wolves in sheeps gowns I was born in the cold Moved to the heat Got used to the flame Now I spit it on beat I was raised in the womb Groomed by christ With a gift to raise souls from the tomb Please don't assume We ain't tryna take the slot Blow the spot Worldwide still parta the plot Everybody talkin bout changinthe game But everything I hear why'all soundin the same From the beats to the videos Clothes and look Same concept for your flows and hook See these round here they can raise the dead So come on everybody now bob your head why'all need to heed these words from the wise Rhymes so meaty like jambalaya Got truth for hire Can you stand the fire To see you come alive that's my desire now Boy looka here Have you ever heard a dead man talk before You ever seen a dead man walk before You ever heard dead man lock the flow Like these before We raised the qou Now my time flip make time change You knew another record would hit Explode and make your brains hang Peep my language of my dialect Circulate like a boomerang Man what did you expect
i first heard this song in i think kindergarden on the tv when one of my older pals turned it on durning after school care on tv it was this music video and since then ive loved grits wooooooot
Okay but this used to be on a VHS that my youth group used to play all the time and I don't remember what the VHS was called and now I need to know because I need to find the other songs!
Grits is Christian. They're like the Hip Hop Skillet. I'm atheist and I know this. Lol If you don't believe me take a close look at the lyrics of this song and of My Life Be Like (Ooh Aah).
Actually i think they are Jehovah Witnesses. They refer to the end more often as "The kingdom Come". And im not a religious person and i know that. Referr to the same song
***** How closed minded much? Do you not realize that over half of the music that we listen to, whether its "secular" or "Christian" has Christian elements in them? I really hate to burst your bubble, but the last time I checked, your definition of "real" life doesn't seem to be included in the dictionary.
+Javan Friedel GRITS, also known as G.R.I.T.S., is a Christian hip hop group from Nashville, Tennessee. Their name is an acronym, which stands for "Grammatical Revolution In The Spirit." GRITS is made up of Stacey "Coffee" Jones and Teron "Bonafide" Carter,[1] both of whom were DC Talk dancers.[2]..........Wikipedia
i know that the name GRITS is short for something somebody tell me what it stands for! THANK YOU! Awesome song! for christian music i like Five Iron Frenzy, Supertones, Skillet, 12 stones, Pigeon John, and THESE guys! WOW!
you know its funny, i ask myself that same question.... its something that the human mind cannot EVER comprehend that He was and is and is to come, i wish that for 10 seconds that i could comprehend how He just was.
This song was featured a bit in the movie "As Good As it Gets" (2004?). I believe it's on the film's soundtrack as well. Jack Nicholson plays a businessman who owns a hip-hop label among other things. While the movie is decidely not christian, it's definitely interesting.
(second part of the verse two....) everybody talkin bout changinthe game but everything i hear yall soundin the same from the beats to the videos clothes and look same concept for your flows and hook see these round here they can raise the dead so come on everybody now bob your head yall need to heed these words from the wise rhymes so meaty like jambalaya got truth for hire can you stand the fire to see you come alive that's my desire now Keep spittin it Grits!
lol I forgot that they sang this they really had good mainstream popularity. This use to be played on BET and MTV when it came out. Just goes to show you that people don't listen to lyrics of what they listen to half the time. Then again a decade ago their was a decent amount of mainstream Christian artist even the scene music warped tour scene was mainly mainstream christian bands for a period.
Thanks botbagel, I really enjoyed yuor repsonse its nice to be able to disagree without any conflict. Maybe I was being judgemental I'm not sure, I don't like the video too much is all, but the beat is good. Oh well I'm glad other ppl like it.
What's there to understand? Life is just procreating and as we procreate more we evolve into something greater or something worse. Natural selection my dear friend.
If you accept him in your heart you'll feel the connection and the stronger you get the more closer you get to him the stonger the connection. But you have to accept him first
@klepto2 Mr. J. Medeiros, The Procussions, Matisyahu, 116 Clique, Flame, Kirk Franklin, and KJ-52 (goes way back) are all really great artists with an awesome message :)
These guys will be at my church April 8th...New Life church Denton Texas...They wouldn't perform in a church if their mission wasn't Christ centered. I don't care for hip hop/rap music...but lots of people do...GO GRITS!

That's exactly why I looked up the song! I miss that game so much.
I still find it funny this was from a Disney game.
Did you know that TobyMac did a song with GRITS. It's a very famous song by GRITS.
Yea I didn't know when I posted this a while back but I do now
This song will always be a bop!!!
I agree. Christianity is how we live our lives day to day. It isn't a feeling that we turn on every Sunday morning.
Grits music is not allowed in Church at all.....spiritual, without religion
This band came to my church a long time ago with kj 52 and it was the best concert I've been too.

Finally, I found this song, the memories man.
Rappers smiling, I love it. Don't think I've ever seen that before.

He's right, grits is a christian rap group, but I thought the same as you when I first heard them, but after listening to their lyrics and reading them on their cd covers, they are a rap gospel. They sound really good though.
He feel it she feel it we feel it
So round and round we go
He feel it she feel it we feel it
Aaaah here we go
He gon' get up she gon' get up we gon' get up
Lockin' down the joint til the playa haters shut up
Take you to outer limits flawless with no gimmicks
Imitate but can't get it
Aaaah here we go
My brain pattern skip a jiggawatt
No more room in the pan I cook up rhymes in a bigger pot
On a roll, what you figure got
Tricks up my sleeve you won't believe
My story weave to a thicker plot
Words leep off pages hop on stages
We crazy need to be locked in cages
Raah you feel it
Yeah I'm light skinned vanilla
Comin atcha like a pack of gorillas
Whole planet gone ape
Understand from afar nashville to the lone star state
Relate indicator instilled in me by men greater
This is where you belong strong you gon' be great
Flaunt clout with a scream and a shout cast out doubt
Fast like a gun blast drawn out
The sounds in leaps and bounds flush out clowns Creeps
and hounds
Foxes and wolves in sheeps gowns
I was born in the cold
Moved to the heat
Got used to the flame
Now I spit it on beat
I was raised in the womb
Groomed by christ
With a gift to raise souls from the tomb
Please don't assume
We ain't tryna take the slot
Blow the spot
Worldwide still parta the plot
Everybody talkin bout changinthe game
But everything I hear why'all soundin the same
From the beats to the videos
Clothes and look
Same concept for your flows and hook
See these round here they can raise the dead
So come on everybody now bob your head
why'all need to heed these words from the wise
Rhymes so meaty like jambalaya
Got truth for hire
Can you stand the fire
To see you come alive that's my desire now
Boy looka here
Have you ever heard a dead man talk before
You ever seen a dead man walk before
You ever heard dead man lock the flow
Like these before
We raised the qou
Now my time flip make time change
You knew another record would hit
Explode and make your brains hang
Peep my language of my dialect
Circulate like a boomerang
Man what did you expect
i first heard this song in i think kindergarden on the tv when one of my older pals turned it on durning after school care on tv it was this music video and since then ive loved grits wooooooot
