The thought that she describes Aliyah from ember in the ashes as beautiful and courageous makes me so happy! it has nothing to do with Aliyah’s appearance obviously because she’s fictional.
I read “The Weight of Feathers” last year and it was one of my favorites for the year, can’t wait to read more by her.

Yeessss! The Astonishing Color of After. Easily one of my favourites of this year so far. I connected to it on such a deep and personal level and as you said, just the way Emily X.R. Pan is able to devastate you but then go on to fill you with such a deep sense of hope and happiness is testament to her ability as I writer. Not gonna lie, I was pretty sad about something when I clicked on this video. But you put a smile on my face as always. So thank you so much! Hope the second half of 2018 treats you well. it was really cool that you mentioned a few books i've never heard of before: i think you described one as "underhyped"? i would really love if you did an entire video talking about "underhyped" books you loved, or in general books that just aren't super popular, especially around booktube. it's nice that some books get noticed a lot but i feel like every booktuber always talks about the same books all the time, so something fresh and new would be greatly appreciated. at least that's how i feel!

I read Eleanor & Park on audiobook on a fluke and loved it! I ended up sitting on my couch doing nothing just so I could finish it.
LOVE SIMON WAS AMAZINGGG! 😂😂 also I loved Infinity War to those superhero nerds
One of the biggest surprise books for me was picture us in the light. I picked it up bc of the cover and then read the synopsis and decided I needed it. It broke my heart tight at the end and I suggest it to so many people especially since I haven't seen many fan works from it. which is a shame considering how beautiful the story and message is and how amazing the characters are. If you need a good read check it out please the author did such a good job and deserves way more recognition.
The Astonishing Color of After has been put on my favorites list! It was so wonderful, sad and hopeful all in one!
I cried about 5 different times in the last hour of school for the year, finishing A Reaper at the Gates... we were literally having a party and I sat in the hall gasping and crying every 2 minutes

Vincent and Theo: The Van Gogh Brothers is something that definitely surprised me because it starts off kind of slow and a little too nonfiction-y, but by the end I was still crying and emotional about Vincent

I really FLEW through the first to AEITA books, so I don't remember a ton, but I'm rereading book one now, and HOLY RIZZOLI I'm loving it so much. And now that I've watched a few booktalks and summaries and stuff for the series, I am super pumped for Reaper. I'm ready to be destroyed. But also, I'm not ready LOL. I hope the rest of your year is great!

I'm about 100 pages from the end of Astonishing Color of After, and I'm loving it! I'm a really slow reader, so I'm impressed with myself for getting through such a long book.
I'm just glad to that Queen of Air and Darkness is coming out end of this year. The initial wait till 2019 would have destroyed me too much.

I just read Children of Blood and Bone last month and it was well worth all the hype! Absolutely love it and I'm dying of anticipation for book 2. Plus, I even got my boyfriend (who is not a reader) to pick it up and he's enjoying it as well which makes me so happy!

Also, i need to read the poetry of princess and witch. A lot of poetry books have taken me back because I’d read through them and they’re all relating to heartbreak in relationships- i need poetry that will hit me deeper and I think these will.

The book that was surprising to me this year was Strange the Dreamer! I know everyone says how amazing it is, but it was better than I imagined!
Finally someone undestands my love for An Ember in the Ashes!! I love that series with all of my heart and I think it is soooo underhyped (is that the correct word?) like, I've only ever heard you and Hailey talking about it. Although I must admit that the only reason I gave A Torch Against the Night a 4 star rating was out of pettiness because of what Sabaa did to Elias.
i'm surprised you didn't mention the diviners!! it's on my current tbr, as well as children of blood and bone :) my biggest surprise love of the year was the lunar chronicles, especially cress and winter!!

The Dininers was a very surprising read for me. I was looking for a new audio book and there it was! I got very invested, and the reader did a great job!

Personally I love Queen of the Tearling. I did not go into this book as a fantasy because it was more on the lines of a historical fiction type feel. Then in the second book we find out more about the kingdom and then a dystopian vibe with a bit of magic.
Wolf by Wolf! I've had it in my to read since last year but I only got around to reading it recently. Didn't expect I'd fall in love with a book like 'that' :o
I think the book that surprised me was Warcross was not expecting to love it as much as I did!
If you love lush and lyrical writing with a sad story and great characters, you have to read I'll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson if you haven't already. My favorite of all time.

hi Hannah i’ve just read the night circus and what can i say.... my life is changed. for real. i love that book so much!! in general you love so many books i adore (children of blood and bone is definitely the best book i’ve read this year). and i’m planning to read turtles all the way down soon after hearing you talk about it - i’ve read a few chapters in a bookstore and it already impacted me so much, but i couldn’t buy it that day sadly. i’m also sooooo excited for muse of nightmares (i’m pretty sure i’ve read strange the dreamer because you recommended it and it was one of my favorite reads of last year hahaha)
the biggest surprise this year for me might be nevermoor: the trials of morrison crow because it’s just so wonderful and magical!

I read both of Amanda Lovelace's books this year, and I absolutely love them! Can't wait for Queen of Air and Darkness, and just realized I've been calling the series The Dark Artifacts instead of The Dark Artifices
My biggest surprise of the year was definitely The Upside Of Unrequited. I knew that i would love the book going into it, but i didn’t know that i would love it this much. I honestly think it’s tied with Simon Vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda, and it may have even passed it

If you haven't read We are the Ants by Shaun David Hutchinson, then you definitely should. It reminds me of what you said about The Astonishing Color of After in that it's about a dark topic, namely suicide and depression, but it's injected with a sort of hopeful feeling. Probably not as much as The Astonishing Color... but it's definitely there.
The Queen of the Tearling really disappointed me too. I can't wait until next week because my library will be getting A Reaper at the Gates and I have the first hold. I am ready to have my emotions ruined!
