Their machetes are by & large are outstanding, the trail boss axe is excellent, the trench/war hawks are great, albeit a bit mall ninja. The Recon 1 series are a benchmark for true hard use folders.
The SRK's various iterations, while not my favorite, have received tremendous use/acclaim.
The Trailmaster & Recon Scout are justifiably legends & hard to beat at any pricepoint.
The often sub $30 G.I. tanto is fun to customize.
      Their kitchen knives are solid.
They do alot of Taiwanese manufacturing with very budget steels like 4116, aus-8/10,SK-85 and they often have upgraded versions of s35vn, san mai, 3v e.t.c...
Their quality control is excellent, especially at their price point.
While the Ad-10 and the like aren't my favorite, they're an excellent value if that's what you're looking for.
Can you name a company, with a large product line that surpasses them in the aforementioned capacity?
Not that... your custom scaled s90v para 2, or whatever is better...

Can you cite an example of a CS product that bears those three qualities?
The Ad10 is bulky & relatively very affordable, it's also regarded one of if not the toughest production folder.
Which cold steel products have you used that failed to a similarly priced competitor?
I think they nearly always exceed "good" in their case use & are no less good because better exists, usually at 2-3x the price point.

@@adamjames1375And honestly, there is no other lock stronger than the tri-ad lock I have found in my use. I have a Strider SMF, compression lock Spydercos, Axis lock benchmades, etc. none of those knives make it through batoning or even hard material cutting (like rubber) without developing some bladeplay. I have taken Triad locks through seasoned hardwood batoning and they have developed no play. Yeah CS knives are kinda bulky, but the strength makes up for it. I honestly can’t tell a difference in CS AUS10A and Benchmade’s 154CM in performance. I picked up a 4 Max for $50 and in the world of “tough folders” I have not found one better at ANY price range in terms of strength OR edge geometry for it’s blade stock, it cuts surprisingly well due to the wide flat taper. It can just as easily slice a tomato cleanly as baton through a small log. 🔪

I got the 4Max Scout as soon as they were available. Being a large human, I found it carries nicely & is very comfortable in hand. I've batoned & de-limbed trees with it often since I got it & it's still tight. The Tri-Ad lock is outstanding. While my abuse will never equal that of DBK, I KNOW it can take anything I throw at it! It just requires edge maintenance proportionate to use. Glad you boys ran it through the wringer

The 4 Max scout is better for this with better steel in aus10a than the 8cr13mov or 8cr14mov (which are identical in reality but the Chinese insist they're different). The Sr1 Lite series uses worse washers, smaller screws and the Tri-ad Lock is actually designed with a flaw. It has a 90° angle on the lockbar face which allows failure on spine whacks more often than a normal trial should. The Sr1 Lite also doesn't have full liners making it weaker.

Hahaha yes that opening punch was a bit of magic lads,
As for the knife it’s nice to see you battering more folding knives than ever in your enigmatic style. I was very surprised how much of a good fight the Aus-10A put up until you opened up on it lol. That last shot from the rifle was a bit of beautiful filming😂👍🏼
You two keep up the great work and your own style as always and well keep on watching and waiting for the next instalment.
As always you two stay safe and healthy and keep them loved ones likewise
    🫵🏻😘👍🏼

Wow, I have to say I was kinda hoping that the knife survived the shots but that was probably too much too ask. If it did I'd have pretty much to buy one 😁 Great testing, fellas!

I'm not sure if anyones ever asked, but I'd love to see y'all test out winkler knife and axe. I'd even honest to god be willing to lend you my set knowing full well due to how y'all test them i may not get them back in their original condition lol. I've trusted my life to mine for years... i just don't personally have the heart to do the job right potentially destroying them myself... on the other hand i firmly believe they can take it.

Don't forget it was Lynn Thompson's oft stated opinion that you should never split wood with a knife even a fixed blade

    • @richardhenry1969
      @richardhenry1969 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

Never heard that especially since i have video of lynn chopping wood with several different knives. Coldsteel was the only company that showed videos of them abusing knives. Almost like they invented the whole idea.

I think you can. The important technique is too lightly tap first then wack. It saves the edge more.

Have been buying some cheaper Chinese smaller knives in 8cr Sandvik 12/14 and 440C. I would never go under those steels. And they are remarkable well profiled, even grind and usuable sharpness. But I could always enhance the sharpness mostly by just strop, but to get it at it best, it needs some TLC, and after some not to hard use a tour on the strop makes it back to order again. Why buying small cheap knives, dumpable! Either if forgotten going on a flight, are at a place where knives are prohibited.
