- I’ve been a UX product designer for over 4 years now, and the journey hasn’t been easy... AT ALL
In this video, I’ll tell you how I got from a joiner UX designer who couldn’t find a job for a full year to working at one of the most Loved Workplaces and making 6 figures!
Your first UX UI design portfolio will probably be the most depressing process in your career, but if you're a beginner designer, I want you to remember that there's always hope!
In this video, I'll share some helpful tips that helped me along the way in my Product design journey.
Please keep in mind these are only my opinions as a Product UX Designer. I'm one user out of millions and only express my professional yet personal opinions.
If you're a beginner UX designer, I highly encourage you to adopt critical thinking about apps, always think beyond the interface, and try to understand UX patterns and behaviors that make an app or a product good (or bad).
There are always pros and cons, and a good UX designer knows how to find inspiration even in terrible apps 😊

Perfect timing with this video as I'm currently in the TRENCHES 🥵putting together my portfolio and no lies were told when you said this is the most depressing part of the process. It feels like it's never-ending. This video gives me hope that it's worth the effort, and a new perspective on considering working with an agency.
It’s most literally never ending, since every few years you’ll have more projects and would wanna change your aesthetics 😅
I can’t stress enough how much I recommend working for an agency for at least your first year- the amount of products you’ll tough and experience will make you 100* times more experienced than a designer who worked on one product
It has taught me SO many skills in such a short period of time
You’ll earn a low salary in comparison to an in house designer, but will gain much more in my humble opinion
Could you talk more about how you created your portfolio? Especially the final one, the one that got you hired, like what software you used. I think it was Figma but just having issues trying to figure out how to make the screen scroll like you have. Love this video.
Great video! So proud of you! 👏🏾 👏🏾👏🏾
Awww thank you that’s so sweet of you 😍🥰
Loved the video!🤍
Glad you liked it! 🥰🥰
Hiii, thank u so much for the video! After watching it I became extremely motivated to learn more about UX/UI and actually pursuing this career since it is my goal to work remote and I have a thing for design. But u know, I was afraid that design field might me dying bc of all the trained AI and stuff.. I would also like to hear what do u think about AI replacing designers in general, would that be a thing?
I’m so glad you enjoyed it!
No one really knows what the future holds, but my assumption is that it will take some time to see the full affects of AI
At least for the start- we’ll need designers to design AI tools, right? 😇
If you really want this, and youre passionate enough to work really hard to get it- do it!
Please make a follow-along video of doing a project and adding it into a portfolio. would help students such as myself!
Hey, thanks for your comment!
I’ll think about how to do that
Hey, first comment! Thank you so much for sharing! I've just finished my bootcamp and struggling with my portfolio. Once I'm done I would love to have you review it if you have time! Thank you! Good luck with the channel!
Of course! Drop it in the comments when you’re done and good luck! 🙏💪
@@ItsUXgirl Thank you! It will be very helpful if you can make a video instructing how to present a case study in an engaging way on our portfolio (of course only showing content that you can share). I've read numerous of articles and posts but its always better to have a throughout instruction and see how the actual outcome looks like.😀
I’ll see how I can make it work! 🙏🥰
Do u write "Challange" with a on purpose? I was just wondering. Love the vid, your designs and ur journey
