I worked this Toxic Reasons show at the On Broadway in '83. I thought they were so great I ended up designing and printing a t-shirt for them that I shipped back out to them on the road. I still have a few of those tees around here somewhere. When we were young everything was possible.
That Mutants' song "Color Of Imagination" is fantastic. I don't know if I ever saw them. I lived upstairs from Penelope, Danny, and Jimmy of the Avengers on Mason St. in North Beach. Good times! Is there possibly a video of Negative Trend doing "Venus In Furs" somewhere? I saw them one night at some club, can't remember where, but they did the best darkest cover of that song I've ever heard. I still think about it almost fifty years later. As far as I can tell, they never recorded it. Thanks for the videos, bringing back lots of memories.
This is hard to watch, because when I was a kid this was a very alluring alternative world, and it attracted me because I was a misfit kid, but I was a good kid - smart, good at drawing. Fast forward to today, looking back the punk world wasn’t as much misfits as it was about miscreants & psychopaths. I really tried - played in punk bands, graduated from art school - but the deaths and defamation basically ruined my life and to this day I can’t get away from it, and the friends I had left I had to abandon because they became drunk, addicted, and virulently woke. I see those images now, and I’m not joking when I say that I miss the 80s, and if I had a time machine I’d stick to my homework & stay the hell away from Marxists.
It's definitely a different deal, i went to an underground show last night and out of the 5 bands only one had great music, was about the music. The rest spent more time spouting rhetoric that was utterly unnecessary and ridiculous and hypocritical. I'm 55 and played in bands all over America, it truly seems over musically speaking for the whole punk and alternative idea. Glad to have other outlets that make me happy.

Wonderful stuff. I still have the Black Flag tape somewhere. :)
Hardcore punk before it became a basic skinhead muscleman dick-measuring contest.

"the friends I had left I had to abandon because they became drunk, addicted, and virulently woke" what the heck are you babbling about?
You seem like a huge tool, like with no friends
@@QueefMcGeesHouseYeah - maybe MDC isn’t the best choice for someone who equates “wokeness” with alcohol and drug dependency. 🤷♂️
@@Matthew-qk1xi Literally don't believe you at all.
