I’m sorry to point this out, but it’s worth noting that a significant portion of the electronics, warfare suite, and avionics in the LCA Tejas are sourced from Israel, while the engine is supplied by the U.S. In fact, 70% of its weaponry and systems come from other countries. This heavy reliance on foreign components raises questions about the air force’s confidence in indigenous capabilities. If there was genuine intent to fully embrace this fighter, it would have been inducted back in 2005, with consistent improvements made over time through a block-building approach. While Indian engineers, designers, and technicians are undeniably talented, there appears to be a lack of confidence in the potential of the LCA Tejas and its latest derivatives. This is evident in the Indian Air Force’s preference for European or Russian technology fighters over its homegrown solutions.

AMCA or above is for specific purpose. For daily routine surveillance and Bombings Tejas MK1A, Tejas MK2 orders Rafale is required. AMCA flying cost, RAM coating and Maintenance will be very high. Even US also cannot afford more F35 or F22. They are going back to F16 or F15. Our first priority is for increasing depleting sqardon.
Also, so-called 5th gen fighters come with a number of performance disadvantages vs 4.5 gen planes. The stealth advantage is also eroding under advancements in signal processing. 5th gen was and is a marketing terminology created by aircraft defence manufacturers to sell planes at high prices. The reality is the world has yet to see real 5th gen planes which should have a decisive advantage over 4.5 gen planes, just as 4.5 gen planes are well ahead of 3rd gen aircraft. Now where are the jokers claiming China created a 6th gen plane.
@@mtrest4 100% agree with you. There is no true 5th generation fighter .. it's all a marketing gimmick. Also, super Sukhoi with Gallium Nitrate radar & Astras will be even better than Rafale overall. Soon Ghatak will balance the stealth power to a good extent if inducted in good numbers. So all is not gloom & doom the way cheap slapstick youtubers & their intellectually challenging fans are projecting incessantly. We Indians are perpetually habituated in self-criticism at the drop of a hat basis outward looking merits of others !
@@kkumar736The Ghatak UAV is still a blueprint, Sukhoi upgrades are stuck in a distant pipeline, the Astra missile remains untested, and the gallium nitride radar is purely fictional-but somehow, all of this is already proclaimed superior to the Rafale and on par with fifth-generation fighters! It’s either a desperate attempt to cope with the lack of a fifth-gen fighter or just next-level propaganda. Truly impressive how fantasies are turned into "achievements." At this rate, they might as well claim they've built an intergalactic fleet-because why let reality ruin a good story?
When we question ourselves why lesser nations like turkey and maybe South Korea have forged ahead in building aircraft the answer could be FOCUS on 1 or few projects. Our predominantly public aeronautical sector has too many aeronautical projects on hand, tejas-mark-1a, tejas-mark-2, amca, tedbef, hlft-42;, ijt-32, saras, netra-1, netra-2, orca etc ,etc, etc to name a few a classic case of "Having fingers in too many pies" Or "Jack of all master of none".
Most of these should have been done 10-20 years ago. However since it is only 10 years since we have at least some sort of forward looking government, we are playing catch-up. This is the natural progression in development of aero tech in the country. It has to be followed to generate an ecosystem. No amount of beating around the bush will remedy that. Tejas is a good first attempt. Mk2 is the real deal - a full fledged fighter. AMCA though important doesn't meet all needs, mk2 is required. All we can hope for is to compress the timelines. Here we depend on goodwill of the services. Unfortunately they are known for testing till obsolescence.

Before you speculate, don't you take a look at the number of engineering graduates and R&D investment?
In order to really get value, you need to build 500 of an aircraft type. No point splitting up into so many types. TEJAS mk1A and AMCA between them can do all roles.
I believe amcas internal bay is 2 small. It was a good design 10 years ago but is outdated now. The trend now is towards bigger planes. For more weapons n fuel capacity. Plus need more power n space for future laser weapons. So amca needs to be bigger. Need ALCA not AMCA.
Russia has Sukhoi amd Mig and other and same goes for China and US who have not just one comany, Lockheed Martin, Boeing etc etc... likewise India need another company.
Major challenge for India is we have been designing and discussing so many options for entire Armed forces but little has been actually happening in 30/35 yrs whilst our adversaries have excellent quality and quantity now, we really really needed to fast pace our procurement
Our purpose should be to counter the depleting squadrons..considering 5 generation aircraft They can be used for some specific purpose....Tejas has it's own value.
IAF is being weakened in the name of self-reliance. If MRFA was done on time then concentration can be made only on AMCA. But we do not do anything on time.
I am agree with you Sir,In our India, all are experts! Because they are concerned about India but they forget that our forces also have strategic think tanks, they do not publish their alternatives, so have faith in them.
Tejas Mk2 to TEDBF/ORCA to AMCA is a requirement. You will have to develop the technologies being used for Tejas Mk2 while developing TEDBF and AMCA. So, anyhow you just need to combine the tech to build a Tejas Mk2.
Everything else is a reason, the point is we like to buy from out. Assault rifles are also bought from out, and developing assault rifles is easier compared to jet engines.
India ne asia mei USSR ke baad sabse pahle military aircraft Hal Marut banaya tha aur aaj halat dekho China Japan aur S Korea se bhi hum peeche chal rahe hai 😢
For Twin engine configuration, we can definitely use the current version of the Kaveri engine. We can end the dependency on GE forever. However, the timelines are a concern. It should not take decades to Design, Validate and release the fighter for deployment
It is not about what we want, it is about what the Pvt companies want. Making aircraft is a high risk venture and now of the Indian companies will invest in it - especially for a few hundred aircraft. They have other low risk options available for making money. A simpler solution would be to create another branch of HAL and sell it to the Pvt companies AFTER it is ready to produce final assemblies, NOT before. This way, there is a better chance.
In our company, for any projects one focal point was appointed. He was leading the project. Sameway end users should give a RFI and appoint a focal point. He must be accountable and coordinater between all departments. Basically like CDS.

As a proud indian it's a pain to see. 1.it's been 25 yrs still mrfa 114 pending. 2. We don't have an engine for the 4th generation so the 5th generation AMCA will see the 2050 as the 5th generation needs a different type of engine 3. 6th generation needs a different engine so in 2070 we will see the first 6th generation We are almost 50 yrs behind china that way. So I think we should partner with the Japanese 5th generation program that will speed up things
I hope you'd agree, What matters is the morale of our defence forces and the confidence they have in the tactics & the hardware at their disposal. I think "the morale of defence fans" is insignificant if not childish.
Let AMCA rollout, then we have to work on its bigger tail less configuration which will be our 6th gen fighter. We had already mastered tail less configuration in SWIFT 😊😊.
Biggest problem of tejas mk 2 is we are choosing GE 414 INS6 OVER GE 414 EPE, EPE is much more better than INS6 in every way, but why ADA choose INS6 ,i doesn't understand 😢
We should develop MK1A,MK2,ORCA,TEDBF,AMCA. we need all of them in good numbers. Only with missiles we cannot defend ourselves. Now we should start design of heavy combat helicopter also better than Apache, A good transport variant which can be used for all needs. Drones of different dimensions and roles need to be designed. Multiple engine programs, 2-3aircraft design agencies and many more.
Private Sector should take up the production, atleast one or two more production lines can be opened to give private sector experience the way HAL built experience by assembling. I agree AMCA is important, LCA can be the economical option to do max sorties, AMCA can take up air-superiority role to replace Sukhois. LCA Mk 2 can play the role in between as a swing role MMRCA.
The only solution is develope Swift as actually Drone than just prototype. And Delay Ghatak and develop it as chinese fighter bomber. Fast-track Mk2 with also integrating some advance 5th gen tech to make Mk2 4.5+ and also work on developing advance radars. ACMA also needs to be Fastrack

@suvarnanaam You know, the titanium needed to build the SR-71 came from the USSR. The CIA set up a special operation to procure it. It occurred to me that if India could just get a bit creatively sneaky-sneaky, maybe sourcing the materials from China is viable.
In India, Procedures >>>>>> End Results. Anyway I have been rooting for ORCA since many years - even before Covid times. It was the most logical step given our resources. Let me say it again today - despite Tejas Mk2 program, start ORCA project now - based on current Kaveri engine. In future, if more powerful engines are available, you could evolve this project is a different direction if you want. Don't wait for a better version of Kaveri. This is going to take time. With Tejas, what is the guarantee that US won't create troubles with GE engines 10 years down the line?
@allcaps3584: Every supercilious armchair military expert pompously considers himself an Indian 𝘌𝘭𝘰𝘯 𝘔𝘶𝘴𝘬. 😉 😄😄😄 Having ordered 26 Rafale-𝘔s, the GoI has deferred development of the TEDBF. In any case the country already has 3 ongoing combat aircraft development programmes - Tejas Mk-2, AMCA Mk1 and Ghatak UCAV. If the GoI decides to go in for MRFA, it'll be one more. MRFA - the “interim solution” until the AMCA Mk1 becomes available - is intended to address the IAF's falling air squadron strength. And… the new production lines that will be set up, will ensure that the country has a better alternative to the lackadaisical HAL. Even considering the development of one more indigenous combat aircraft is stupidity. India simply doesn't have the resources for it.
@allcaps3584: Here's an anecdote: Jamsetji was inspired to set up an iron and steel company, when he attended a lecture by Thomas Carlyle on a trip to Manchester. The industrial revolution that had transformed Britain and other countries had, by and large, bypassed India. By the early 1880s, he had set his heart on building a steel plant that would compare with the best of its kind in the world. But, in the early 1900s, no one believed an Indian company could produce steel, but this didn't dissuade him from relentlessly pursuing his dream for years. This took him to New York and the office of Charles Page Perin, a geologist and metallurgist, with knowledge of iron and steel that made him sought after in countries right across the globe. Tata persuaded the metallurgist to come to India. Unfortunately, Jamsetji would not see his dream-the one he had nurtured for 30 years-come to fruition. As Perin was getting his report together, the sad news of Jamsetji Tata passing away in Germany, reached him. It fell on Jamsetji’s son, Sir Dorabji Tata to see his dream to completion. Tata Iron & Steel came into being in 1907 and held the distinction of being Asia’s first integrated steel company. ⁍ 𝕄𝕖𝕣𝕖 𝕓𝕝𝕒𝕓𝕓𝕖𝕣 𝕞𝕠𝕦𝕥𝕙𝕤 𝕔𝕒𝕟 𝕒𝕔𝕙𝕚𝕖𝕧𝕖 𝕟𝕠𝕥𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕘.
Govt should approach private major companies like ( Tata, Mahindra, Adani, L&T , kalyani) for transfer technology, support for built-up infrastructure and initial financial support with (75/20/5) Private+govt+ R&D
I feel India should follow airbus model acquire startups and build a new aerospace companies and bring them into a new company like how airbus has done and subsequent listing
That suggestion was good we should let pvt players be it established company like tata advance systems or L&T and other small and medium start ups to lead the production of latter batches of 97 tejas mk1a with HAL as a supervising and consulting body. If gov decides today on this plan then these pvt companies would have more than 5 years to train their workforce and set up necessary infrastructure. Even if gov decides to increase the cost per unit by few millions to give proper ROI to these companies then also it is not a problem as this extra cost is ultimately fulfilling the long term strategic interest of country by fostering skilled workforce and industries in aerospace sector. So instead of wasting more than 25 billion dollars in MRFA which is already delayed and even if we want to buy them today then also deal signing would take more than 2-3 years and after that 5 years to start the delivery so instead of wasting money there we should utilize these money in programs like this to boost manuacturing and aerospace industries as it will also help india in sustaining growth of civil aviation market.
ask the big industries to get into this like Tata, mahindra, Reliance, Adani they are only looking for business with 1000% returns , they hardly spend money on R&D . They only look IPOS to suck the money from common people. Ask the government to force them to spend on R&D . Ask them to allocate a budget for R&D
Simple sa solution hai sab problems ka 100 fighter jets ko India me assemble karo jo ki kam se kam 4.5 gen ka ho chahe wo Typhoon ho , Su-75 ho ya koi bi Su-30 aur Rafale ke equivalent fighter jet ho isse hame Tejas mk2 ke aane tak ka ek stopgap milega
The way our defense procurement/development proceeds, India will never be able to touch 42 squadron count ever.. War can happen anytime without any notice..
understand the game of chandigarh lobby and importpreet singh, every development is a reason to scrap indigenous aircraft china unveils 6th a/c - scrap Tejas Mk2 Pak acquiring J35 - scrap Tejas Mk2 MRFA needed for squadron strength - scrap Tejas Mk2 180 orders given for Mk1a - scrap Mk2 engine or other delays - change specs of Tejas Mk2 and introduce unobtainable specs and then say scrap it
I think no Big Player will come forward because they are too interested in profit making partnership with foreign companies. So it will be best that Govt. of India took initiative for raising a new or relatively small company under the guidance of HAL for assembling of the upcoming TEJAS aircraft.
Being optimistic is good but there is a vast difference between "ho sakta hai" and "ho gaya hai". We have seen from time to time that even after this shocking revelation of chinese new fighters our government still prefers to sleep on this. If they had even put a little bit more effort on meeting the timeline rather than being totally free "ki jab marji tab prototype and first flight karenge" then we would be atleast flying tejas mk2 by now and AMCA won't be existing only on papers.
MoD should make sure that Tejas MK2 platform moves as per the current timeline only. Any further delay by any Govt agency shall have severe implcations for the whole team. Make them work day and night and if they cannot, make them resign. It is enough already.

Our predominantly public aeronautical sector has too many aeronautical projects on hand, tejas-mark-1a, tejas-mark-2, amca, tedbef, hlft-42;, ijt-32, saras, netra-1, netra-2, orca etc ,etc, etc to name a few a classic case of
"Having fingers in too many pies"
Or
"Jack of all master of none".

Government should consider and learn from Iit madras hyperloop project.
We need private sector entry to make quick jet engines, jet production.
Just to boost private sector capability: In 97 further Tejas mk1A govt/hal should shift blr assembly line/capacity to private sector, distributing 60:40 inhouse capability.
Two major problems are a) continuously changing priorities 2) understanding customers actual requirements and serve it

Bhai bina engine ke kuch nahin kar sakte. Once you have engines, you can make any fancy dubba 5/6/7th generation.
Halwa h kya ? Jo bss chini mila ne se ban jayega
Jaroori nahi hai.
Apna khudka engine ho to acchi baat hai per, agar aircraft he time pe nahi hoga to engine kisme lagaoge.
For ex even Aaj bhe China ke paas accha jet engine nahi hai phir bhi wo Russian aur low quality Chinese engines pe he different aircrafts bana rahe hai
@@Vijaya7225 Sure
however,I just feel a little happy for you to have such understanding 😂 The parameters and overhaul hours of Chinese aviation engines far exceed those of Russia and are catching up with the United States.
Naah man I disagree with your analysis

Russia has Sukhoi amd Mig and other and same goes for China and US who have not just one comany, Lockheed Martin, Boeing etc etc... likewise India need another company.

India should join England and Italy in their 6th generation joint venture. This will save time and catch up with China.

AMCA is a day 1 & 2 fighter whose role is stealth intended to destroy crucial radar and launch installation.
While Su-30, Tejas Mk2 is day 3+ fighter which is intended for air superiority, ground support,.
If amca is deployed on day3 then it need to compromise its stealth for carrying additional missiles on external pylons.

When we have got delayed due tp engine issue we can easily made TEJAS into a single engine 5th gen fighter , it has very low rcs some more modifications can turn it into 5th gen fighter
Additional MK1As shayad itna required nahi hai par MK2 is must.
As a proud indian it's a pain to see.
1.it's been 25 yrs still mrfa 114 pending.
2. We don't have an engine for the 4th generation so the 5th generation AMCA will see the 2050 as the 5th generation needs a different type of engine
3. 6th generation needs a different engine so in 2070 we will see the first 6th generation
We are almost 50 yrs behind china that way. So I think we should partner with the Japanese 5th generation program that will speed up things
HAL should write a letter to GE .. "No Engine No Fun ..Your Son"
I hope you'd agree, What matters is the morale of our defence forces and the confidence they have in the tactics & the hardware at their disposal. I think "the morale of defence fans" is insignificant if not childish.
Tejas, MRFA, AMCA thanks to these initiatives by GOI youtubers like alpha defense have endless sources of youtube revenue😉
Two engines are not enough. Tejas needs at least 3 or 4 engines powering with cow dungs.
Let AMCA rollout, then we have to work on its bigger tail less configuration which will be our 6th gen fighter. We had already mastered tail less configuration in SWIFT 😊😊.
Actually positive development
We should go ahead with Tejas Mk2 , TEDBF, AMCA as it is only the change should be prioritising & pacing up these programmes.
The Indian government has set up a committee to decide whether to establish a special committee, to counter China's 6th gen fighters.
Good morning. Jai Hind !!! My question cum suggestion is - Why Indian Airforce is not using Su-30 MKI production to solve their reducing squadron problem for temporary basis. IAF can acquire atleasst 2-3 squadrons if not more. It can provide some breathing time until Tejas Mk-1A and Mk-2 fill gap

Can't build the engines. It turns out that while India can in fact build Al-31F from raw materials, the raw materials must be sourced from Russia. With the war in Ukraine ongoing and the RusAF needing their own engines and planes, getting those raw materials is now next to impossible. The other two sources for those materials are Ukraine and China.

Anyway I have been rooting for ORCA since many years - even before Covid times. It was the most logical step given our resources. Having ordered 26 Rafale-𝘔s, the GoI has deferred development of the TEDBF.
@allcaps3584:
Here's an anecdote:
Jamsetji was inspired to set up an iron and steel company, when he attended a lecture by Thomas Carlyle on a trip to Manchester.

There is no substitute for indigenous platforms. Sooner or later we have to build our own machines.
Lack of future planning and funds are the main reason.
Govt has money for freebies and politicians but not for defence.
That’s just a sad reality 😢
Govt should approach private major companies like ( Tata, Mahindra, Adani, L&T , kalyani) for transfer technology, support for built-up infrastructure and initial financial support with (75/20/5)
Private+govt+ R&D
Hamari ek aur big problem hai, poor planning aur import lobby 😅
Simple sa solution hai sab problems ka 100 fighter jets ko India me assemble karo jo ki kam se kam 4.5 gen ka ho chahe wo Typhoon ho , Su-75 ho ya koi bi Su-30 aur Rafale ke equivalent fighter jet ho isse hame Tejas mk2 ke aane tak ka ek stopgap milega
Good advice
The way our defense procurement/development proceeds, India will never be able to touch 42 squadron count ever.. War can happen anytime without any notice..
