I disagree largely with the sentiment that Cyril could have chosen the state, made tough decisions and thrived as a popular President and become interfered politically. Anyone but him could have do that. Cyril has no leadership acumen, his credentials in the liberation stuggle and sense of consciousness drag him down. Between Marikana all the way to Phala phala there is no way he could’ve built a credible state. He is not a character or integrity that is willing to stand the tests that come with this responsibility. I fear this imagination of him conquering the state at the expense of the party is tainted with Ramaphoria!

The real ANC left the room at the ousting of Mbeki by the honcho of corruption Jacob Zuma, he destroyed country and ANC with his greed. His only interest was enriching himself and his dysfunctional children. He talks about land and free education but did nothing about both during his 9 year tenure. Sadly, Ramaphosa followed in corrupt Zuma's footsteps, instead of following in Mandela and Mbeki's footsteps.

My summation of Cyril in the light of this discussion is that the man failed as the president of country, evidence is everywhere you look, and the man also failed also as the president of the ANC, the party has never been so weak, every poll tells the story of the demise of the ANC. Under the definition of the word "failure" they should put his face. What a shame, so many promises but nothing to show for it.

What continued enrichment once again from this latest discussion!
    1. This particular one provoked me to thinking about the construct of "The people as holding the balance of power" which element is still missing in practice. Our leaders are masters and not servants and the people are servants and not masters! . What a dusgrace!
    2. Political parties to me have no room any more in our current day politics/African societies because they are more divisive than uniting. We could do very well with having open dialogue in each and every province and let the people speak out their needs and from there a relevant governing model is crafted to accommodate their needs.
    3. We must always remember that the people came first before the state. The state is merely an instrument that the people use in order to get things done.
Which ever party has the people's welfare at heart, needs to win at the upcoming national elections in RSA since the people have suffered enough. 🙏.

That’s never gonna happen because the so called rainbow nation was imposed on Africans in SA after years and years of oppression and genocide, a legacy which has sustained poverty, inequality and racism amongst Africans in SA. So as long as these factors remain, you can keep dreaming about some superficial “collaboration”

Here we have two PhD’s who should be running the country like the National Party, instead they and our endless list of PhD political analysts, waste their unpatriotic intellect analyzing the behavior of our brave illiteratti like JZ who are not afraid to lead.
Plato has already said that, “The penalty for the intellectual’s refusal to participate in politics is to be ruled by their inferiors”, but our intellectuals are still indulging in sonic boom tactics by boasting about their PhD’s instead of saving their country.
HF Verwoerd had a PhD and his plans are being executed by the divisive black illiteratti, while our Illuminati are watching on the sidelines.
Education is an instrument for change, rather than an ornament.

Brilliant interview interview again Dr Mpofu-Walsh
Dr Mtimka's articulation of pathways to inclusion reminds me of what we wanted to achieve in the Thinasinako Local Economic Development support programme. This was a partnership between the EU & the Eastern Cape government that ran from 2006 to 2011. One of its pillars was to build entrepreneurial partnerships between local producers (community level) and established commercial agriculture, thus enabling the former to gain access to local and international value chains. I will definitely be on the lookout for his book on the subject once published. Spread the fire

Great analysis of the SA''s political landscape. The key word is 'Leverage' towards the end.

Thanks a lot, Sizwe for bringing the Doc. what an inspirational discussion with lots of in-depts and practical applications in all our individual environments. let's create a mass based organic massive organizations and collaborations to solve our century old economic issues. I am a firm believer that where there are lots of problems there are also lots of opportunities to solve them. Ironically, I had an hour-long chat with my friend yesterday about this very subject and how each one of us with capacity should dirty our hands and get involved in solution driven initiatives and not leave everything to politicians but partner with them to resolve instead of being arm critics without our hands on involvement. I am looking forward to reading to your new book " pathway to economic development and inclusion. Happy new year and God bless.

You are doing a great job, well done Sizwe. The Koko interview was amazing the best as yet for me. In that you managed to interview an outcast. There are few interviews worth repeating, but Ongama is not one of those worth repeating. I find his analysis imperious and not sober. He has a side that he clearly leans toward, as he should. Yet he mustn't present himself as objective and nuanced.

May we also have courage to use the wisdom that you share so generously to make our country a jewel of Africa as it was meant to be.

While South African art and cultures undeniably stand among the best globally, the unfortunate reality is that many artists in the country struggle to receive adequate government support. Despite the richness and diversity of creative expressions, limited funding and resources hinder the full potential of South Africa's artistic community. Increased government support could not only elevate the global prominence of South African art but also foster a thriving and sustainable creative ecosystem at home.

Great conversation as always. Just a note to the technical team. Sizwe's mic needs to be closer to his vocal projection range as every time it switches between him and his guest, there is a fluctuation in the vocal's body and depth.
